Robert Rennie is a Partner at Harper MacLeod in Glasgow and a Professor of Conveyancing at the University of Glasgow.

The law of leases is perhaps the least academic of all branches of the law, relying as it does on what the parties may agree (especially in commercial leases) and what statutes may impose (especially in residential and agricultural leases). For this reason the authors deal with questions of practice as well as matters of pure law. They use vast experience and their individual specialist knowledge on particular types of lease to provide insight on practicalities and commercial aspects of leases, including negotiation and vocabulary – absolutely essential as court decisions very often depend on the words used in particular leases.
