GLOBAL BUSINESS LAW

NEW APP

BECOME PART OF THE DIGITAL STORM The iPad is taking the legal profession by storm. More and more firms and individuals are investing in the device to make their professional and personal life more efficient and flexible. Thomson Reuters Global Business Law is a new app designed specifically for iPad wielding lawyers who have a cross-border element to their commercial or contentious practice.

GLOBAL QUESTIONS, LOCAL ANSWERS Global Business Law gives your customers access to the law in 160 countries and 46 practice areas. This allows them to tap into the knowledge of established legal practitioners from across the globe and quickly make sense of local laws related to specific practice areas.

GETTING THE DEAL THROUGH With content sourced from the Getting The Deal Through series – published by Law Business Research – the app is essential for corporate counsel, cross-border legal practitioners and business people alike. Having this content on an iPad allows your customers to instantly compare and contrast the laws in different jurisdictions anytime and anywhere. Getting The Deal Through is also available on Westlaw UK. Having access to the same information on an iPad gives our customers an intuitive interface through which to quickly search, compare and contrast the content across numerous jurisdictions. They can do this without the need for an internet connection; on the move, in their office or in a meeting.

FREE TO DOWNLOAD? This unique app is one of the first products to deliver high value, practical legal content to professionals via an iPad app. The app will only be available via the Apple App Store. It is free to download and comes preloaded with the content from Getting The Deal Through’s very popular Merger Control book. Once downloaded, customers will be able to purchase additional content on other practice areas from within the App itself.

THE ONLY WAY IS APPLE

WIN £300 SUPERCHEQUES

Many of our customers will be comfortable with the process of buying apps and will have done so via their own iTunes accounts many times before. The App Store gives us direct access to the customer’s wallet but can be quite restrictive.

And finally, we are offering a prize of £300 in Supercheques to the person who refers the most customers to the App store to download the app.

No commission but… The app is free. Unfortunately, we will not be able discount sales of content for the app. We will also be unable to attribute commission back to account managers for any sales coming from their customers. But please remember, it’s a brilliant opportunity to show your customers that we’re a company that understands the type of information they need and the ways that they want to tap into that information; anywhere and anytime

Individual purchase Information Managers will have questions about how best to distribute the app and the content amongst colleagues within their firms. Today there is no mechanism within the Apple ecosystem to allow any kind of enterprise-wide distribution. Instead, individuals will purchase content via their own Apple accounts and may wish to expense their purchase back to their firm. They will have to do this through their own internal processes and may be required to establish their firm’s policy on this or discuss it with their information manager.

The competition will begin on Tuesday 25th September, when you will get more information about the app in the Sales and Marketing web-ex. It will run until Friday 23rd October. All you have to do is to send us your emails from customers confirming that they have downloaded the app. Send the emails to l.hall@thomsonreuters.com
