Ready for Roasted Radishes?
FOR THE ANCHOVY BUTTER
v 1 4-ounce stick of butter v 4-6 anchovy filets, chopped (I use King Oscar brand that are packed in olive oil) v 2 garlic cloves, peeled and finely minced v teaspoon each of chopped fresh chives, parsley, and dill (feel free to mix up the herbs and use what you love) v a few grinds of black pepper v small pinch of salt - remember the anchovies are quite salty

FOR THE RADISHES
v 2 pounds radishes, halved if very large but feel free to leave the smaller radishes whole v 4 tablespoons anchovy butter *see notes for options v combination of fresh herbs for finishing - I used dill, parsley, and chives
INSTRUCTIONS
TO PREPARE ANCHOVY BUTTER
Place a 4-ounce stick of butter in a bowl, add chopped anchovies, herbs, garlic, salt and pepper, and give a good squish and mix. Set aside if using immediately, or place on a sheet of plastic wrap or wax paper and roll into a tight log, twisting the ends to seal. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
TO PREPARE RADISHES
v Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. v Place radishes on a large, rimmed baking tray - lined with parchment if desired. Add butter. If the butter is hard, simply place slices evenly on the tray as pictured. If the butter is soft, you can use two spoons to drop little blobs here and there. v Place the tray in the preheated oven. After 10 minutes, remove from the oven and give a good mix and toss. v Return to the oven and roast until radishes are soft and have browned and crisped in spots.
This should take another 15-20 minutes. v Remove from oven, toss with herbs and enjoy! 1. In place of butter, you could use coconut oil or ghee; just mix together as instructed. Rolling into a log might be more difficult, so feel free to transfer to a container to store in the fridge 2. If anchovies aren’t your thing, substitute a couple of spoons of miso paste or simply make the butter with garlic and herbs - it will be great!

Registration is open for the 6th Annual CAYA Run for Your Life 5K At Verdun Adventure Bound
By Moira Satre, CAYA Founder and CEO
Participants will run or walk on a beautiful 5K Cross Country Course located at Verdun Adventure Bound, an outward-bound-like youth retreat center located on over 50 acres in Rixeyville. Follow the Sasquatch through the woods to the finish line. Music at the amphitheater, food, and awards will follow the race. This year we are excited to announce that our motivational race speaker is wellness advocate Chris Herren, founder of Herren Wellness, a residential substance use, wellness, and recovery center that helps guests lead healthy, substance-free lives, with locations in Warrenton, VA, and Seekonk, MA. Herren was a high school basketball legend from Fall River, MA, who scored over 2,000 career points while at Durfee High School and was named to the 1994 McDonald’s All-American team. Chris went on to play at Boston College and Fresno State. He played two seasons in the NBA, including one with his hometown team, the Boston Celtics – and seven seasons overseas before losing everything to the disease of addiction. Herren has been sober since August 1, 2008, and he shares his story nationally with the goal of making a positive difference in the lives of others. Proceeds from the Run For Your Life 5K will assist the CAYA Coalition in supporting prevention programs and reduce the stigma of addiction in our community. The mission of the Come As You Are Coalition is to connect people who are impacted by addiction to support, treatment resources and to collaborate with community organizations to support local prevention programs in Culpeper and Fauquier Counties. Senior Supper meals came to a halt back in March of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For years, Fauquier Health has held Senior Suppers as a tradition where seniors from the community could come, socialize, play card games and eat a delicious meal at a discounted rate. Seniors 55 years and older will be able to choose from one entree, two sides, and a fountain drink or milk – all for $6.00 (tax included). In order to make this happen, the Bistro will be set up to accommodate guests while maintaining social distancing measures. Seniors will be able to park and enter through the side bistro entrance area and selfscreen at the temperature station. Upon sanitizing their hands, they will be able to enter the bistro.
