Spirit and Roots is a week long music festival, that celebrates Native American heritage. The goal of this festival is to educate society about our own American roots, and to bring awareness to the Native Americans. The call to action here is to come enjoy the music, but also learn about the Native American culture and spark an interest in preserving their way of life.
The Spirit and Roots logo is a combination of type and graphic. The typeface is Weston, a very log cabin, outdoorsy font paired with a classic North Western totem pole, being used to create the ‘I‘ in spirit.

The poster includes a full list of musicians playing during the festival, as well as a list of Native American activities being featured. The background is an image of the Washington mountains, with an illustrated tree line, lining the bottom of the poster. I also wanted to include the arrows to add a touch of classic Native American icons. I chose to make this the model for most of the print pieces.

This will be the map for the visitors to help guide them around the festival grounds. Every station is labeled and a map legend has been included.
This is the line-up schedule. This includes the date and time of each performing artist.
As for the merchandise, I wanted to create a series of lyrical posters for the visitors to buy. Each year the festival will design and print posters featuring the most
popular artist’s lyrics against a mountainous Northwestern landscape. Of course no music festival is complete without some branded shades and hipster tanks.
Here is how the website splash page, lodging page, mobile app and mobile map will look on several different devices. I wanted to show the responsiveness of both the website and the app. The website can be viewed via any mobile device, like an iPhone or iPad, as well as any mobile Android device.
The mobile app will include a login page, a schedule of events, the official line-up and the map. There is also an option to create your own schedule, which alerts the user of any changes. The map uses a GPS system to pick up the user’s location, and helpfully guides them to where they need to go.
