DR. EUGENE JENKINS was inspired to

become a veterinarian as a young boy. His family always had a dog or cat growing up, and he enjoyed the responsibilities of their care. At the young age of 15, he started working in a veterinary clinic as a kennel assistant, and his love for animals has grown ever since.

He earned his undergraduate degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from West Virginia University and went on to study at Ross University finishing with a clinical year at LSU to obtain his Veterinary Degree. He is now a proud member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

The most important part of his job, says Jenkins, is the comprehensive exchange of information. “Clients need appropriate communication from me about their pet’s needs. It’s also important that I communicate amongst staff in order for our veterinary hospital to function effectively and efficiently. The most difficult communication is when I have to inform owners of fatal illnesses that their pets may have, but I strive to do so with empathy and to offer ways to make their beloved companion as comfortable as possible.”

Jenkins says the goal at Crosspoint is to educate clients about exceptional pet care, public health, promote healthy pets with happy clients and offer the most reasonable, comprehensive veterinary care available. He believes Crosspoint Veterinary Hospital is unique in that they go above and beyond their clients’ expectations. “Dr. McHughes and I want our clients to be involved in the information for their pet’s care and wellbeing. We make sure that owners have no concerns before leaving our hospital. The staff is incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable.”
