8. MARION VIALADE I am a self taught artist, born in France and now living in Alexandra. A passion for drawing first led me to explore printmaking and illustrating techniques. As I delved further into these disciplines I started getting interested in colour and light and through painting (acrylic and gouache) I am able to experiment with both of these. My work is about places, people and objects that move me - but overall it is about human emotion, mine and others.

OPEN FOR VISITORS Between 9:30am and 3pm. Please contact me prior to visit.

OPEN FOR VISITORS You are welcome to visit my workplace. A phone call first would be appreciated.

My working life has involved the use of wood in one form or another. I have always been fascinated with its colours and grain patterns. My passion is to create art forms that involve classical shapes and the beauty of our indigenous timbers. OPEN FOR VISITORS You are welcome to visit my workplace - a phone call first is a good idea.

15. ROSS COWIE STUDIO 5 A lifelong interest in art has been maintained during a busy business career. I specialise mainly in printmaking having been part of a strong school of printers that emerged from the Otago Art Society. This interest has not precluded me from working in other mediums, including acrylic, charcoal, pencil and ink and ceramic sculpture. The latter has presented me with the opportunity to expand my love of sculptural works and experiment with mixed media. Since moving to Clyde permanently, I have continued running small art classes.

14. RICHARD PARSONS Richard has been painting oil on canvas for the past 30 years. He has developed his own unique style which captures the dramatic landscape of Central Otago and the West Coast. Richard has always had a rich appreciation for the stunning landscape of New Zealand. He tries to capture the land with a timeless feel and the trappings of man, tastefully erased.

My background in fine art, graphic design and retail design is strongly reflected in my recent works. The use of form and line, such as buildings, bridges and the use of perspective is the direct influence of growing up with a father who was an architect. This illustrative style requires me to simplify my composition giving it a wonderfully bold, colourful and print like quality. OPEN FOR VISITORS From 10am, 7 days a week.

20. OLAF MERINGHAUSEN Olaf Meringhausen says his work is a journey through lines. He is inspired by his natural environment but is also influenced by experiences from his former life in Germany. He works in metal but integrates other materials to give colour and life. The welds, cuts and abrasions on the surface of the metal are as much a part of the sculpture as the innovative work he creates.

24. HUGH DERHAM

21. JANE WHITAKER I would describe my paintings as ‘impressionistic.’ My enduring fascination is with fleeting moments in time – such as a racing shadow over a mountain range. As well as landscapes, I am currently working on several portraits of Naseby residents, with the intention of capturing something of the personality, as well as the likeness, of the sitter. I work mainly in oils, water colour and pastel - but also use any other medium that I feel helps to capture the land or its people.

Award winning photographer Janyne Fletcher has branched out from a traditional photography business to the area of creative and landscape photography. She wants to do more than just document things but add life and layers to her photography. Janyne edits, prints and frames all of her own work at her workshop and gallery on the main street of Ranfurly which she operates with her partner Deane.

Hugh is a photographer who has specialised in large format graphic displays for tourism projects. His gallery has two themes, New Zealand alpine landscapes and birds and African wildlife. Most of the New Zealand Landscapes are currently from Canterbury High Country. What is unique is that 41 images are printed onto glass. There is one large mural printed in vinyl 2.4m high and 4m wide, used as wallpaper. OPEN FOR VISITORS Monday - Saturday, 10am - 3pm or by prior arrangement.

25. MURRAY SHEPPARD Murray’s father owned his own furniture design/ cabinet making business so from an early age Murray was fortunate to spend hours having fun in his father’s workshop. After leaving school Murray got involved in farming and the Stock and Station industry. Upon retirement in 2003 it seemed natural for him to return to his childhood interest - working with wood. Murray creates both functional works like bowls and platters as well as decorative, sculptural works of art. OPEN FOR VISITORS Murray welcomes visitors but please call first to make sure he is home.

27. RACHEL HIRABAYASHI The surface of the canvas is where I try to intermesh an idea with a recognizable visual form. Layers of pigment and paint act as a filter for my feelings for a place. Most images are based on memory, something that has made an impression on me, either visually or emotionally. My works in metal are playful and they show my enjoyment of the metalworking process.

35. ROBERT FRANKLIN

38. DOMAINE REWA

I was a part-time studio potter for a decade in the 1970’s. Some four years ago I was encouraged to once again sit at a pottery wheel and this released dramatic results. My knowledge and experience in studio pottery some thirty years ago remains within me in the head and hands but the pieces produced were like nothing that had gone before. I now utilise that knowledge to create works in many of the genres of ceramics including, Raku, Saggar Firing,Stoneware and Porcelain and I exhibit locally and nationally. My work is strongly influenced by both Japanese and Chinese early ceramics. My work is an expression of form, finish and texture, more of the fire, and less of the glaze

The French Potter, Yannick Fourbet, has imported a selection of traditional, and contemporary, handcrafted horticultural pottery from his atelier in Southern France. The display is at Domaine Rewa nestled amongst the plane trees that are so ubiquitous of southern France.

Plans for Yannick’s NZ atelier are underway, it’s expected to be fully functioning by autumn 2019.
