and intimidating place for patients in need. this creates a stigma regarding mental healthcare. this center has many materials that have a residential feel. immenities such as a fitness center, learning kitchen, day room, game room, art therapy, and music therapy allow for patients to readjust to society after suffering from various behavioral health issues that can often be socially debilitating. the design of the space allows for patients to gain a sense of independence while still being safe. the intention of this design is to restore the body and mind through, and create an optimal healing environment.

This purpose behind the design of this center is to reduce the stigma surrounding behavioral health, and create an optimal healing environment where patients can thrive. The design consists of spaces that appear more residential than institutional while still keeping safety standards in mind. This center is a place of restoration and healing where people are encouraged to learn to take care of themselves while being supported the whole time.

PAVE STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION PAVE Student Design Competition Fall 2018 PAVE is an international competition for visual merchandising and retail design. Each year the competition is sponsored by a different company. This project is for the Home Depot. Backyard Oasis Fall 2018 The backyard oasis is a trendier take on the greenhouse. It is an area where customers can shop for indoor plants, and also contains a touch screen where they can scan bar codes to find product information such as reviews, and also learn more about gardening.

7

Garden Creation Center (pictured above) Fall 2018 The Garden Creation Center is an area where customers can learn how to grow their own vegetable gardens. The design consists of a movable planter bed where store associates can give demonstrations. It also contains touch screens within the tables where customers can upload photos to aid in visualization of their garden spaces, take notes, and look for products online.

PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL- PATIENT ROOM Spring 2018 This patient room design is meant to be a space that is relaxing and engaging for pediatric patients. It has a space for guests to sit and visit, a TV, chalkboards for drawing, and a headwall design that allows the patient to control the intensity and color of the lights.

12

PEDIATRIC HOSPITALPLAYROOM

PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL DESIGN- PLAYROOM Spring 2018 The playroom provides a space for patients and younger visitors to get out of their rooms and play. IIDA STUDENT BOOTH COMPETITION

IIDA STUDENT BOOTH COMPETITION Spring 2018 The guidelines for this project were to create a booth design for IIDA. The booth will be at the Orgatec trade show in Cologne, Germany. TURKISH RESTAURANT- MAIN FLOOR

17

TURKISH RESTAURANT- MAIN LEVEL Fall 2016 For this project we worked with students at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. The hypothetical client wanted a high-end restaurant located in the Old Ankara Train Station. The concept for this design was to merge traditional Turkish culture with a modern and inviting atmosphere. The main level is a restaurant and bar, while the upper level is a hookah bar.

HOME RENOVATION

Home Renovation Fall 2015 For this project we were asked by some close friends of our instructor to help them come up with a new design for a house they were flipping. The house is located in Blowing Rock, NC. The house had experienced a fire so it was a complete renovation. This was an individual project.

23

LOWER LEVEL This hand-rendered plan is for the lower level of the home renovation project. The plan is designed to meet ADA guidelines and uses strategies of aging-in-place.

UPPER LEVEL The upper level of this design is a loft suitable for a caretaker or guest bedroom.
