Celebrations at Kings Langley Aged Care

The Adventist Aged Care Residential Facility and Retirement Village innovative 28 million dollar rebuilding and refurbishment of its’ Kings Langley complex is now complete. The project included construction of 21 new independent living units as well as complete refurbishment of its existing Residential Aged Care Facility including building a new 45-bed wing.

The Federal Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland MP unveiled a plaque to commemorate the opening on Thursday 20th April, along side Pr Terry Johnson, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Adventist Aged Care. Mr Mark Taylor MP, Member for Seven Hills and Julie Griffiths, Blacktown Deputy Mayor, were also in attendance along with staff, residents and families.

“I pay tribute to Adventist Aged Care for its innovative, needsbased care model which will allow older Blacktown residents to live independently and with greater dignity – particularly those with dementia and Alzheimer’s. These new and upgraded facilities will ensure that Blacktown seniors – who helped shape this city into the wonderful place it is today – can continue to live safely in the comunity they love” commented Mrs Rowland.

The new modern Residential Aged Care Facility includes two wings specifically designed to cater for the needs of residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s. The entire complex is fitted with an advanced security system.

“The residential facility includes a number of sophisticated design features that allow staff to set parameters for the management of an individual residents’ needs, eliminating the outdated one-size-fits-all approach,” Mr Johnson noted “And further to aiding a client’s experience, in some areas staff don’t wear uniforms, often sharing meals with residents. This helps to create a home-like environment, so clients with memory loss are more relaxed.”

In addition to the residential facility, there are 72 independent living units co-located within the complex. “Co-location of independent living units and residential care on one integrated campus is an ideal arrangement for couples when one partner requires a higher level of care than the other” says Adventist Aged Care Sydney Managing Director, Brian Swanepoel.
