Today Maria’s here to talk to us about her fashion styles in her career and outside of her career.
What do you wear when you are training? Well, I don’t wear tennis kit which is a tennis dress or skirt. I tend to wear what anyone else would wear, mostly legging and a sports bra (if I’m training abroad) but otherwise I normally juts wear tracksuit bottoms and a jumper. Is there any peculiar brand to tend to go for? I tend to go for Nike, as I am sponsored by Nike, however other brands such as Adidas or Asics equally do good quality products. In matches you wear both dresses and skirts, but which one do you prefer? I prefer dresses as its fashionable and trendy, but the dress does get uncomfortable so I like wearing a sports vest and skirt. In clothing do you look for good quality or looks? When I am buying clothes whether its sportswear or not the most important thing for me is if its comfortable or not and the fitting I can’t have clothes too big or too tight fitting.
Do you see yourself as a sports fashion icon? I do not consider myself to be a sports fashion icon because I just wear what any other lady would wear, I don’t wear anything unique and different from anyone else. Who is your sports fashion icon? Well I don’t have a player that I like, but the fashion designer Stella Mccartney I think she a fashion icon for tennis. As her products are so unique and beautiful.
Do you have any of her products even though she works though Adidas? Uhm yeah, I do but I only wear it to train in, as I received a lovely Stella Mccartney dress from my Mum for Christmas. I must admit I have brought I couple myself now that I think of it. How did your mum feel when you got your ban from doping? Well she said that she was disappointed in me, all the work I put in. Also, she mentioned that I have let down my fans, family and sponsors. My Mum said that she was embarrassed when I had to attend lots of interview and conferences explaining and announces what I had done. As you said you had to attend to interviews, what do you wear to formal events? I often wear a posh long dress but I have worn short one before. I wore a jumpsuit a couple of times and I remember once a wore a suit with a posh shirt. I mostly always wear high heels.
How would you describe your style as? Classy and sophisticated Do you find it weird wearing that kind of attire? The only element I find weird is the high heels as my feet aren’t use to being so high, but I do believe that my fans and the public finds it weird when sports people where formal clothing as they aren’t use to seeing us dressed smartly, they just see us in our kit sweating

Everyone knows Beckham as footballer but he is also a very good fashion icon and today we talk about why and how some people see him as a fashion icon. Mostly Beckham is known for being a footballer and not many knows that he models underwear for certain brands. Beckham is known for being a role model to young boys for being a brilliant footballer and for most young adults being a celebrity crush for girls. He is famous for being very family oriented, a good sportsman being an ambassador for London 2012 Olympics for Samsung, Britain’s most iconic athlete and he is also an elite global advertising brand. Due to all his hard work and dedication his work has been recognised and he was awarded with an OBE. The football star has also started a football academy up and has books out about himself. But apart from all of this he is s fashion icon for many reasons and many people idolise him. Firstly, his tattoos which attracts the media, Beckham has about 40 mostly on his arms which forms
his famous sleeve his first one was in 1999 for his first-born son Brooklyn Beckham. David is also the face of Armani for the underwear campaign by doing this he represents modern masculinity, sports hero, husband and father with a great sense of style. Him and his wife has realised their own fragrances with over 25 fragrances and after shaves so the public can not only look like him but smell like him. For the public to look like him he has a fashion line with H&M starting off with underwear then it evolved with a full clothing line with two full collection so you can dress like him. The public see his hair as very fashionable. The man knows what style to wear at very occasion and being stylish and fashionable at the same time. For the people who play football he also has got a fashion line with Adidas original David Beckham which has a clothing line and football boots you can play football in the same boots as he does.
