FLEMINGTON ANNUAL EVENTS
SCHEDULE TRADERS HANDBOOK
INTRODUCTION Paddy’s Markets is implementing a new yearly schedule of events at Flemington to attract more customers to the Market. This handbook has been created to provide Paddy’s Flemington traders with information about the events strategy and schedule.
WHAT IS THE PADDY’S MARKETS FLEMINGTON EVENTS STRATEGY? A yearly schedule of festival-style events at Paddy’s Flemington, each centred on a cultural or seasonal theme. The events are intended to attract customers from the different cultural communities. The festival style and different themes of each event will encourage visitors to make repeat visits and view Paddy’s Markets Flemington as an exciting weekend destination.

WHAT IS CHANGING Feedback from traders showed a preference for more frequent events to be held at Paddy’s Flemington. The new events strategy will replace large one-off events like Kids Karnival with smaller, regularly scheduled events. Unlike Kids Karnival, the new events will: •
•
• • •
e held inside Building D instead of outside. This will draw B visitors into the Market and encourage them to browse and shop while attending the events; Take place over multiple days and weeks, instead of on a single day. Events will be held on Fridays and/or Sundays and some will run over two weeks; Target a broader range of customers through a variety of entertainment and activities; Favour local, independent community-based entertainers over professional/commercial acts; Provide a wider range of activities, such as interactive entertainment, food and specialty products to create a market festival atmosphere that is true to each theme.
WHAT IS NOT CHANGING Paddy’s Markets will continue to provide activities and entertainment for: • Chinese New Year • Easter • Christmas • School holidays As well as continuing with cooking demonstrations throughout the year.
