A SYDNEY CITY TIMES JOURNALISTIC REPORT 11/06/2065
THE RUMOURS AROUND GLEBE’S ‘SMITH,’ AND THE RECENT, SUSPICIOUS DEATH OF THE MAN WHO SOUGHT TO CATCH HIM, DETECTIVE TIMS.
On Wednesday, June 10, 2065, the Sydney City Times published the shocking images of detective Tims’ apartment, which at the time, was a crime scene for his very own death. These images have reignited the search for Smith’s identity, as never-before-seen evidence of the detective’s findings are scattered throughout his residence, including Smith’s artefacts, and the inspirations behind his city hacking that spanned over three decades.
This journalistic report analyses these three leaked images of the apartment, and looks at some of Smith’s inspirations as well as Detective Tims’ leaked police report from 2050.
Where is Smith now? Is he dead? How did Detective Tims die? Were these two secretly working together? These mysteries may be now solvable...

One of the most interesting finds was a manual, written around 2030-50, which outlines an urban guide to passive privacy. It is unknown who produced this, but we can assume either Smith did, or was at least inspired by these instructions 2.
The following pages are exerts from the manual that the Sydney City Times are allowed to publish...

DEFINING THE VERTICAL THRESHOLD THROUGH HISTORY
Like all train stations throughout Washington D.C., the modern Maglev Stations are state of the art. Stations higher up are too risky to use - the older stations are under less surveillance.
Maglev highways scale the tops of skyrise buildings. The most recent Maglev highways have heavy surveillance and should not be used.
As residents in surburbia continue to urbanise, the demand for skyrise living becomes too intense for developers. The result is cheap, faulty infastructure with flaws in technology like surveillance systems.
First magnetic levitation (maglev) highways scale medium scale buildings. These initial highways are under less surveillance than modern, higher highways and can be used.
Residential housing complexes instantly begin to take advantage of the abolished 130ft building height law. Today, these buildings are not under as much surveillance as more recent builds and are good spots to go under the radar.
Congress abolishes Height Act in response to an increase in urban housing demand following Washington D.C. Statehood.

2030-2050 Common sightings of W.Smith in a tower by tower social mix structure.
2030-2050
The socially mixed buildings that housed both private and social residents saw relentless conflict as a result of dissimilarity. This social structure was initiated for Sydney City’s housing towers in early 2025, but was abandoned in 2035 as violent, ethnocentric events sparked a need for seperation of particular cultural groups from one another. Tensions emerge between meeting housing authorities’ social mix objectives that dismantle existing communities and other regeneration goals to improve community integration and self-reliance. Smith was active elsewhere.
W. Smith has been, allegedly, sighted establishing nodes, sometimes in particular rooms within a block of towers - a physical area to connect various groups to start a dialogue about the government’s (supposed) mistreatment. W. Smith has more difficulty achieving this where the social mix is limited to a block by block seperation of cultural groups - it seems the greater the distance between these seperations, the less we see of Smith.
Uncommon sightings of W.Smith in a block by block social mix structure.

One strategy includes a removal and punking of existing microarchitectures like benches. By adding benches, Smith gains an element of power by controlling public congregation and circulation - Sydney City Government sees this as anti-social loitering, a breaking of the sepeartion grid imposed, and a start to a grass roots uprising
Reflective surfaces are often Smith’s installments. Although they tend to go unnoticed and are difficult to track, there tends to be a message attached

Known as Smith’s Artefactions, the following are pieces of evidence in the personal possession of Tims, which again is cause for suspicion 14.
The following physical evidence are artefacts from both Smith and Tims that the Sydney City Times are allowed to publish...
SMITH’S ARTEFACTIONS FOUND IN THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT ARTEFACTS LINKED TO SMITH THAT HAVE BEEN GATHERED. THEIR FUNCTIONS ARE NOT CLEAR
DETECTIVE TIMS’ SMITH MOVEMENT 2040 ARTEFACTS LINKED TO SMITH AND TIMS
NOTE FROM DETECTIVE TIMS FOUND ON A SMITH POSTCARD
CONCLUSION OF FINDINGS
The items found throughout Tim’s apartment have left more questions than answers. It seems trying to gain a full understanding of Smith is a hopeless task, one that dragged Tims into an endless rabbit hole. He dedicated his life to solving the unsolvable - one can’t simply conclude a never-ending narrative; if Smith was a person, his legacy will continue to grow past his own existence. He has established an ownership of certain acts, whereby his name is more of a reference to an idea than a human being. However, these findings confirm intentional, physical, and orchestrated actions can, in fact, redefine the city fabric. Perhaps this was his intention all along, or perhaps Tims was Smith this entire time - it doesn’t matter the mystery behind his identity doesn’t compare to his impact in Glebe - one that will go down in history
