Archie was a genius architect Everyone was in awe of his intellect

But all day and all night was the time he would spend On thinking of ways of making new friends

“If only these walls could speak he said Before he put his pillow to his head

Suddenly he sprang out of bed

For an idea had struck inside of his head!

These walls they are certainly not dead!

They just need to be loved and to be fed! “What if I make a house?”

“Who could then become my friend?” he said Ga t his herin an g d l skill s o ah okin ead g Ar do chie wn ra to n she his d

Windows are like eyes

In all shapes and size

Through them you can see

The world around you and me

How can I build and continue to mend The face of my new friend? My friend will need a mouth at the end So that he is one I can apprehend

Apprehend means to understand

A door is a mouth into a space It is easy to find, it is easy to trace You can walk through it or you can race You usually find it at the beginning of a place

But what about the cold and wind? How can the house be cosy within? He thought of the walls, They were much like skin! They could protect, enclose and wouldn’t be thin

Archie’s idea

made him grin

Finally, much like a cherry to the cake There was one more decision Archie had to make

A roof on the house like a hat on a snake! Would complete his project without a mistake

So Archie had to have a plan To combine these elements into a clan He experimented and even began To think of ways to make his house stand

He took out his hammer, and some nails Also, a ruler to measure scale

With wood and metal, a saw and a pail . . .

Archie’s house began to grow as big as a whale! But still, it had a good amount of detail

Soon Archie had made two more friends He started to jump around and dance

He was so glad that he took a chance On using elements that he could enhance

At the end of the day, Being an architect is full of fun and play You can design and build in any way And make friends just like me today!
