eller has come a long way from its humble beginnings back in 1945 when Carl Weller, a home radio repairman, wasn’t satisfied with the bulky,

21

Desoldering Stations

slow-heating soldering irons that were the tools of his trade. The technology he pioneered, combined with his own design ingenuity, created the first soldering gun, an invention that revolutionized the electronics manufacturing and repair industries.

24

Rework Stations

Today, the Weller brand is still synonymous with electronics design innovation, but

in a very different way. Weller is now the most respected name in specialized soldering

31

Hot Air Stations

and desoldering products for production, rework, and repair of through hole and SMT boards, products for contact removal of ICs and QFPs, non-contact hot air products, and much more.

40

Fume Extraction

Weller’s latest line of products again breaks new ground… this time in the fast-

growing arena of lead-free soldering technology. Weller Silver Series stations have the power to handle the extra demands of lead-free soldering and the

42

Soldering Irons

versatility to tackle a wide array of applications. As always, the famous Weller blue signifies products that help maximize

47

Cordless Soldering Irons

productivity with a combination of innovation and value. See for yourself…the time has never been better to get the Weller advantage.

Another Weller breakthrough gives you two pencils in one. This powerful 80-watt pencil allows rapid production when working with lead-free solder, high mass components, and other demanding applications. A special silver heating element for low thermal loss and fast recover make this unit ideal for continuous production work. And the interchangeable barrel gives you the option of working with either a traditional length or shorter tip-to-grip.

HOT AIR STATIONS

D I G I TA L R E W O R K S Y S T E M

THE WELLER A D V A N T A G E :

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

This station has high-end versatility to meet your most demanding rework challenges, including repair of fine-pitch components on densely-packed boards.

n 700 watts of power allow work on larger dual in line and quad pack components

WBH3000S Circuit board holder with hot air pencil stand holds the HAP3 hot air pencil perpendicular to the printed circuit board under repair, raises and lowers it precisely onto the component being reworked, and swings it out of the way for access to the circuit board

n An ion trap assures that only ESD safe hot air is directed at the component n Memory space to store up to 10 thermal profiles ensures process repeatability n Holds circuit boards up to 310 mm x 320 mm for outstanding versatility n IR heating plate has a total heated area of 120 mm x 190 mm with 3 ceramic elements for controlled, even heat. n Set and actual temperatures are digitally displayed on the LCD panel for added control of process n An external sensor can be connected to display actual temperatures at specific areas of the circuit under repair to further guard against damage to sensitive components n The hot plate can be controlled from its own internal control system or integrated into the control system of the WHA3000P or WHA3000V n For full range of hot air nozzles, see page 39

WHA3000P 700-watt hot air station features patented Weller nozzle technology for maximum process control and user friendly operation, plus a powerful variable speed-controlled turbine for an air volume of up to 50 liters/min

WHP3000 Positioned beneath the WBH3000S circuit board holder, this IR heating plate preheats circuit board under repair to reduce possibility of thermal damage.
