CAST Clarq Benét (she/her) (Captain Morehouse u/s, Captain Holden u/s, Sailor Swing) is a sophomore musical theater major from Houston, TX. This is her first production with the Department of Drama. Sora J. Kasuga (any/all) (Stunt Choreographer) is a professional circus artist and the co-founder and Head Diva at CirqOvation. Alec Barbour (Fight and Intimacy Choreographer) is a Rochester, NY based actor, fight choreographer, and playwright. He has been studying stage combat since 2005 and is a certified teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors. He received his M.F.A. in acting at the Hilberry Repertory Theatre at Wayne State University in Detroit, where his roles included Iago in Othello, Carson in Gross Indecency, and Charles Lomax in Major Barbara. Regional acting credits include Sir Castor (and fight captain) in Camelot at Drury Lane Theatre and Horner in The Country Wife at Franklin Stage. Amani Dorn (Dialect Coach) is an actor/singer/dancer/teacher from Austin, TX, currently residing in Atlanta, GA. She received an M.F.A. in acting from the University of California, Irvine, and has 18 years of professional experience in performance, teaching, and coaching. She got her start performing in musicals in Austin while an undergrad at the University of Texas and has since performed and coached with and for actors all over the world. While pursuing her M.F.A., she was introduced to Knight-Thompson Speechwork and Fitzmaurice Voicework and has since pursued both cer-

Kate Grover (she/her) (Dramaturg) is a senior theater management major from Northern Virginia, right outside DC. Last spring, she was the assistant director for Melancholy Play: A Chamber Musical (Department of Drama, mainstage). Kate is currently the theater management student representative, the managing director for Black Box Players, and has been on the Galactic Chug Improv Team since her freshman year. Kate is so grateful to be a part of Ghost Ship as one of her last projects at the Syracuse University Department of Drama and she would like to thank everyone in the company for being so spooky and sincere! P L AY W R I G H T Philip Valle. Mr. Valle’s earliest play, The Stall. was first produced while he was an undergrad at U.C. Berkeley. He received his MFA from Arizona State University and currently teaches courses in Directing, Playwriting, and Theatre History at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. His original works, performed in the United States, Canada and Mexico, are inspired by the history of social justice, from the civil rights movement to the anarchic rise of rock and roll. Recent productions of his plays pool ’63, Re-
fried Elvis, and Ghost Ship received numerous national awards, including Outstanding Production of a Devised Work and Outstanding Theatrical Creation from The Kennedy Center. In 2019, Mr. Valle presented his research in the Cognitive Science of Creativity at Queen’s University – Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 2022, Mr. Valle joined collaborators in Mumbai India for an ongoing devised theatrical/film project addressing global Climate Justice and the fashion industry entitled The Bombay Runway.
C H A I R , D E PA R T M E N T O F D R A M A Ralph Zito (he, him) is in his fifteenth year as chair of the Department of Drama. He came to Syracuse University from the Juilliard School Drama Division, where he had been a teacher and director from 1992 to 2010 and chair of the Voice and Speech Department since 1999. He was a director and adjunct lecturer in the Barnard College Theater Department from 2006 until 2010 and has been a guest artist at training programs across the country, including the Old Globe in San Diego, The University of Texas at Austin, and the Academy for Classical Acting in Washington, DC. Directing credits for the Department of Drama include: The Spitfire Grill, As You Like It, Gruesome Play-
ground Injuries, and The Aliens. He has served as a voice, text or dialect consultant for numerous professional productions both on and off-Broadway, including: The Light in the Piazza; Awake and Sing!; The Herbal Bed; Mrs. Klein; The Fiery Furnace; The Time of the Cuckoo (Lincoln Center Theatre); Tongue of a Bird; The Merchant of Venice (New York Shakespeare Festival); The Pitchfork Disney (Blue Light Theatre Company); Birdy (The Women’s Project); The Model Apartment (Primary Stages); the New York premiere of Tony Kushner’s SLAVS! (New York Theatre Workshop); and The African Company Presents Richard III (The Acting Company). His regional theater credits include numerous productions at The Shakespeare

C H A I R , D E PA R T M E N T O F D R A M A Theatre and Arena Stage in Washington, DC; Syracuse Stage; Baltimore CENTERSTAGE; Hartford Stage; and the McCarter Theatre, among others. A former touring member of The Acting Company, he served as artistic associate of The Chautauqua Theatre Company for seven years and was a member of the Board of Directors of The American Society
for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT) for six years. He is a graduate of Harvard University, The Juilliard School, and the American Center for the Alexander Technique. He was recently awarded the prestigious Juilliard President’s Medal in recognition of his contributions to both Juilliard and to the broader performing arts community.
