Samantha Jade Berman (she/her) (Ensemble, u/s Bertha) is a senior musical theater major from Los Angeles, CA. This is her first production with the Department of Drama, and she is honored to have collaborated with this incredible company, including a guest director and choreographers. She is deeply grateful for the love and support from her peers, instructors, friends, and family, some of whom have traveled across the country to see her perform.

Nyobi Boddie (she/her) (Charles) is a senior musical theater major from West Orange, NJ and is ecstatic to be a part of this company! She has also graced the stage as Black Lillie Anne in the Syracuse University Department of Drama mainstage production of Barbecue. She wishes much love to her fellow players and the creative team.

Mallika Jain Cadin (she/her) (Swing, u/s Catherine, CoDance Captain) is a sophomore musical theater major from Irvine, CA. This is her first production in the Department of Drama and she is thrilled to share the stage with many talented artists, and to have worked with this incredible company. Emily Castillo-Langley (she/her) (Ensemble) is a senior musical theater major from Denton, TX. Gwendalyn Rose Díaz (she/her) ( Leading Player ) is extremely honored to be making her final appearance in a Department of Drama mainstage musical with Pippin! Originally from Houston, TX, she is now a senior B.F.A. musical theater major in the Syracuse University Department of Drama and a nutrition minor in Syracuse University’s Falk College. Connor English (he/they) (Pippin) is a junior musical theater major who resides in Highlands Ranch (Denver), CO, but grew up in Charlottesville, VA. A lover of art and the outdoors, they love the big things, the little things, the loud things, and the quiet things. When they aren’t onstage or in a practice room, they can be found cooking, baking, playing guitar, and having long chats with their friends.

Cate Gould (Swing) is a sophomore musical theater major from Dallas, TX. She is thrilled to participate in her first Department of Drama production and thanks the cast, crew, and creative team for such an incredible experience. Evan Leone (Swing, u/s Charles) is a sophomore musical theater major from Westfield, NJ. Most recent credits include Francis Flute in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at The Classic Theatre of Maryland, and Hugo in Tuck Everlasting at the Redhouse Arts Center. Malvina Lucchini (Ensemble) is a senior musical theater major. She previously appeared in the mainstage production of Ghost Ship as Captain Morehouse and Captain Holden and the mainstage production of Dance Nation as Sofia u/s. Caroline Marchetti (she/her) (Ensemble) is a senior musical theater major from Westport, CT. She recently was a part of the Department of Drama production of Guys and Dolls (swing/understudy) and made her understudy debut as Lieutenant Brannigan. Caroline is honored to have worked with this incredible company and is very grateful for the love and support from her peers, instructors, friends, and family.

Declan Paul McMahon (he/him) (Swing, u/s Lewis) is a sophomore musical theater major from Lawrenceville (Atlanta), GA. This is his first production with the Department of Drama, and he is thrilled to be working with such an incredible company. He is very excited to begin his acting career at Syracuse University. The support from his instructors, family, and peers is invaluable.

Emily Pellecchia (Catherine) is a junior musical theater major from New Jersey. This is her first musical production with the Syracuse University Department of Drama and she is thrilled to be sharing the stage with such a talented group of artists. Past favorite credits include Alyssa Greene (The Prom) at Axelrod PAC, Belle (Beauty and the Beast) at SKyPAC, and Carolyn (The Bridges of Madison County) at Bucks County Playhouse where she was able to work alongside Tony Nominees Kate Baldwin and Hunter Foster. Justin Roach (he/him) (Ensemble) is a sophomore musical theater major from Fort Washington, MD. Some of his regional credits include The Little Mermaid (SFDA) and The Stephen Foster Story (SFDA). This is his first production with the Department of Drama, and he is grateful to have worked with such a kind and supportive company.

Tobias Rytting (he/him) (Ensemble) is a senior musical theater major from Houston, TX. You may have seen him in Department of Drama productions of Sweet Charity (ensemble, u/s Vittorio), Barbecue ( James T) and Head Over Heels (u/s Basilius). He feels very fortunate to be in his fourth mainstage production and work with this wonderful cast and crew.

Bridgette Sanders (she/her) (Theo, Ensemble) is a sophomore musical theater major from Anaheim, CA. She is grateful to be making her Department of Drama debut alongside an infinitely inspiring cast and crew. She extends a special thank you to her parents for their unwavering belief in her as she continues to discover and chase her own “corner of the sky.”

Izzy Scampoli (Bertha) is a senior musical theater major from Boston, MA. She is thrilled to be performing in her first mainstage production at Syracuse University! Some of Izzy’s recent credits include the Department of Drama’s small scale productions of The Skriker (Derelict Skriker) and Myth of the Mountain (u/s Mo). You can also spot Izzy as an extra in Julia on HBOMax, as well as in Good Burger 2 and The Perfect Couple. She would like to thank her family and performance coaches for helping her get where she is today. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Nicolette Smith (she/they) (Ensemble, Co-Dance Captain, Associate Choreographer) is a senior musical theater major from Bucks County, PA. Prior credits include Failure: A Love Story (Department of Drama, mainstage), The Moors (Department of Drama, small scale), and direction/choreography for American Idiot at The Summit Playhouse. They are incredibly grateful to the entire team and the Syracuse University Department of Drama for the education, immense hard-work, opportunity, and consistent support!

Kendall Stewart (she/her) (Leading Player) is a senior musical theater major from Boyds, MD. This is her third production at the Syracuse University Department of Drama. She is happy to be ending her senior year with this amazing production of Pippin. She is very grateful for the love and support from her family, friends, cast, and production team!

Gillian Stoltz (she/her) ( Ensemble, u/s Fastrada ) is thrilled to be starting her senior year with Pippin! Originally from Marietta, GA, she was most recently in the ensembles of My Fair Lady, Escape to Margaritaville, and Beauty and the Beast at Cortland Repertory Theatre. Up next, you’ll find her next swinging the Syracuse Stage/Department of Drama co-production of Cinderella! Truman Tinius ( Lewis, Ensemble ) is a senior musical theater major with a public communications minor. He was most recently seen at The Glimmerglass Festival in the 2024 seasons productions of Pirates of Penzance and La Calisto Other favorite credits include, Head Over Heels (Department of Drama, mainstage ‘24), Candide (Glimmerglass ‘23), Love and War (Glimmerglass ‘23), La Boheme (Glimmerglass ‘23), Dance Nation (Department of Drama, mainstage ‘23), Sweet Charity (Department of Drama, mainstage ‘22), The Sound of Music (Glimmerglass ‘22), and Carmen (Glimmerglass ‘22). Lili Williams (she/her) (Fastrada) is a senior musical theater major from Leesburg, VA. Previous Department of Drama credits include the mainstage production of Guys and Dolls (Swing) and the New Works New Voices production of Myth of the Mountain (u/s Tricia). Most recently, she was seen as Margot in The City of Fairfax Theater’s production of Legally Blonde. Katie Wood (she/her) (Swing) is a sophomore musical theater major from Northern Virginia. This is her first production at the Syracuse University Department of Drama. She is immensely grateful to have gotten to learn and grow with this kind and hard-working company.

ARTISTIC STAFF

Ningning Yang (she/her) (Scenic Designer) is a scenic designer for theatre and screens, and an exploring artist currently interested in the audiovisual experience. She is beyond grateful to come back to the Syracuse University Department of Drama after graduating from the theater design and technology program three years ago. Recent works include WTF Cabaret and Dragon Mama at Williamstown Theatre Festival, A Doll’s House adapted by Jasmine Roth at Carnegie Mellon University, the site-specific production of The Chinese Lady with SouthernPlains Productions, Silent Sky collaborating with the Oklahoma City Planetarium, and Ariodante at the Pittsburgh Opera. @ningning39y.

Jessica Crawford (Costume Designer) is a costume designer from New York City. She received her B.F.A. in theater design and technology at Syracuse University in 2017. Andy LiDestri (he/him) (Lighting Designer) graduated from Syracuse University with a B.F.A. in theater design and technology in 2017 and has been the lighting designer for the Syracuse University Department of Drama productions Crazy For You (Department of Drama, mainstage), We Are Proud to Present… (Department of Drama, mainstage) and On the Lake. He recently joined the staff at Syracuse Stage as the associate lighting and projections supervisor, where he will serve as the head electrician for the Department of Drama mainstage productions. He spent a year in California with German Light Products as their technical product specialist after four years at Turning Stone Resort Casino as their lead lighting technician, lighting various concerts and events. Andy is grateful to be back in the theatre and back in the place that started his lighting career. A big thank you to Emily and Jed. ARTISTIC STAFF

Kevin O’Connor (Sound Designer) is currently in his 16th season working for Syracuse Stage and the Syracuse University Department of Drama. He graduated from St. Lawrence University with a B.A. in music in 2008. Almost all of Kevin’s sound design credits have been with the Department of Drama over the past 12 years, and some of his favorite designs have been Dance Nation (2023), Bright Half Life (2021), Romeo & Juliet (2020), Good Kids (2019), The Baltimore Waltz (2018), Laura and the Sea (2016), Measure for Measure (2015), and Stepping Out (2014). Kevin also created the sound designs for Red Riding Hood, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (2022), Danny, King of the Basement (2021), and Miss Electricity (2018) for the Syracuse Stage/Department of Drama Bank of America Children’s Tour. Besides sound design, Kevin has also worked as the A1 position, controlling the audio console/live mixing, for most of the musicals for both Syracuse Stage and the Department of Drama over the past 15 years. Some of his favorite productions have been Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Elf the Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, Next to Normal, Ring of Fire, Berlin to Broadway, Nine, Avenue Q, Hairspray, Parade, Seussical, Merrily We Roll Along, and Cabaret. He also feels privileged to have worked as the A1 on the productions of Thoughts of a Colored Man (2019) and How to Dance in Ohio (2022), during their Syracuse Stage runs before moving to Broadway.

Dylinn Andrew (Wig Designer) is the resident Wig and Wardrobe Supervisor for Syracuse Stage as well as an adjunct professor for Syracuse University. Drawing on years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist, she has designed shows like Guys and Dolls (Syracuse University Department of Drama) and 9 to 5 (Jamesville-Dewitt High School). Styling work includes Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, and A Christmas Carol (Syracuse Stage). As a jack of all trades type, she has worked alongside many community, regional, and touring theater companies in a variety of skill areas, including costume design/stitching, directing, choreography, music directing, education and Stars of Tomorrow adjudication. Her experience also extends on the stage through professional opera, acting, and as a multi-instrumentalist.

Maya Rose Zepeda (she/they) (Stage Manager) is a senior stage management major from Los Angeles, CA. This is her fifth production with Syracuse University. Other credits include Barbecue (Department of Drama mainstageASM), Sender (Department of Drama mainstage - ASM), Dance Revue (Black Box Players - SM), and Touch(ed) (Department of Drama mainstage - SM). She is incredibly grateful for the love and support from her family, friends, and mentors and thanks them for their continued support.

Molly Evert (she/her) (Dramaturg) is a sophomore theater management major focusing on finance and data analytics from Media, PA. Other Syracuse credits include assistant stage manager of Juliet Letters (Department of Drama loft production).

Torya Beard is the recipient of APAP’s Inaugural CIPA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Creative Producing. Her creative partnership with Ayodele Casel has been a significant collaboration. In addition to the upcoming play, Diary of A Tap Dancer (premiering at A.R.T. December 2024), the pair has developed various projects, including Diary of A Tap Dancer v.4, While I Have The Floor, Rooted for ALL ARTS’ Past, Present, Future Film Festival, Bessie Award-winning dance film, and subsequent stage production, Ayodele Casel: Chasing Magic, Freedom... In Progress for Max Roach 100, Ayodele Casel + Arturo O’Farrill. New York City Center commissions include Diary of a Tap Dancer V.6: Us, Where We Dwell, Rooted for the inaugural five-borough tour of New York City Center’s On The Move, and most recently, Ayodele Casel | Artists At The Center. Beard and Casel are Resident Directors of Dance Lab New York’s Tap Project and were co-curators of the Little Island Dance Festival. They also share a passion for arts education and youth development and appear in Variety and Lifetime’s ‘Power of Women: The Changemakers’ special for their work with A BroaderWay Foundation. Some of Torya’s other projects: Funny Girl Broadway/ North American tour and Waitress (Assistant Director); Jesus Christ Superstar: Highlights from the All-Female Studio Cast Recording (Executive Producer), and the 2023 Bessie Awards (Creative Producer). Torya is Artistic Director at Excellence Community Schools, Co-Founder of tall poPpy and Original Tap House, and sits on the boards of Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance, percussive dance company Sole Defined, and Raja Feather Kelly’s dance-theatre-media company, the feath3r theory (TF3T). Kevin Boseman is a New York City-based choreographer, producer, dancer, singer, and actor whose stage credits include the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the Broadway revival of Equus, and Disney’s The Lion King among others. He most recently choreographed As Much As I Can, an immersive theatrical experience conceived and produced

by innovative storytellers Harley & Co in collaboration with ViiV Healthcare. Other choreographic credits include the world premiere of How To Break by Aaron Jafferis and Jacinth Greywoode at The Village Theatre, Nina Simone: Four Women by Christina Ham at South Coast Repertory Theatre, the world premiere of Stacey Rose’s critically acclaimed America v. 2.1: The Sad Demise & Eventual Extinction of the American Negro at Barrington Stage Company, a concert reading of Tony Award winner Jason Michael Webb and Lelund Durond Thompson’s musical WiLDFLOWER co-produced by National Black Theatre and The Apollo, and the staged reading of The Sensational Sea-Minkettes by Vivian J.O. Barnes at Ojai Playwrights Festival.

MUSIC DIRECTOR

Brian Cimmet has been the Music Director for both the Department of Drama and Syracuse Stage since 2010. He is also a member of the full-time faculty and serves as Program Coordinator for Musical Theater. Outside of Syracuse, Brian’s credits include the Broadway companies of The Drowsy Chaperone, Mary Poppins, and Grease; the off-Broadway companies of I Love You Because (also the cast album), The Tin Pan Alley Rag, Play the Bassoon Soon, Son, and Newsical; and a lifetime of summer stock and regional theater. Stephen Schwartz (Music and Lyrics) wrote the music and lyrics for the current Broadway hit Wicked. In addition, he has contributed music and lyrics to many other shows available for licensing by MTI, including Godspell, Pippin, The Baker’s Wife, Working, Children of Eden, Rags (music by Charles Strouse), Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (music by Alan Menken) and The Prince of Egypt, as well as two musicals for younger audiences, Captain Louie and My Son Pinocchio. Mr. Schwartz has been inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame and has been given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Awards include three Academy Awards, four Grammy Awards, and a special Tony Award for his support of young theatre artists.

MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL

Music Theatre International (MTI) is one of the world’s leading theatrical licensing agencies, granting theatres from around the world the rights to perform the greatest selection of musicals from Broadway and beyond. Founded in 1952 by composer Frank Loesser and orchestrator Don Walker, MTI is a driving force in advancing musical theatre as a vibrant and engaging art form. MTI works directly with the composers, lyricists, and book writers of these musicals to provide official scripts, musical materials, and dynamic theatrical resources to over 100,000 professional, community, and school theatres in the US and in over 150 countries worldwide. MTI is particularly dedicated to educational theatre, and has created special collections to meet the needs of various types of performers and audiences. MTI’s Broadway Junior® shows are 30- and 60-minute musicals for performance by elementary and middle school-aged performers, while MTI’s School Editions are musicals annotated for performance by high school students. MTI maintains its global headquarters in New York City with additional offices in London (MTI Europe) and Melbourne (MTI Australasia).

CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF DRAMA

Ralph Zito (he, him) is in his fifteenth year as chair of the Department of Drama. He came to Syracuse University from the Juilliard School Drama Division, where he had been a teacher and director from 1992 to 2010 and chair of the Voice and Speech Department since 1999. He was a director and adjunct lecturer in the Barnard College Theater Department from 2006 until 2010 and has been a guest artist at training programs across the country, including the Old Globe in San Diego, The University of Texas at Austin, and the Academy for Classical Acting in Washington, DC. Directing credits for the Department of Drama include: The Spitfire Grill, As You Like It, Gruesome Playground Injuries, and The Aliens. He has served as a voice, text or dialect consultant for numerous professional productions both on and off-Broadway, including: The Light in the Piazza; Awake and Sing!; The Herbal Bed; Mrs. Klein; The Fiery Furnace; The Time of the Cuckoo (Lincoln Center Theatre); Tongue of a Bird; The Merchant of Venice (New York Shakespeare Festival); The Pitchfork Disney (Blue Light Theatre Company); Birdy (The Women’s Project); The Model Apartment (Primary Stages); the New York premiere of Tony Kushner’s SLAVS! (New York Theatre Workshop); and The African Company Presents Richard III (The Acting Company). His regional theater credits include numerous productions at The Shakespeare Theatre and Arena Stage in Washington, DC; Syracuse Stage; Baltimore CENTER-

STAGE; Hartford Stage; and the McCarter Theatre, among others. A former touring member of The Acting Company, he served as artistic associate of The Chautauqua Theatre Company for seven years and was a member of the Board of Directors of The American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT) for six years. He is a graduate of Harvard University, The Juilliard School, and the American Center for the Alexander Technique. He was recently awarded the prestigious Juilliard President’s Medal in recognition of his contributions to both Juilliard and to the broader performing arts community.

Part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the Syracuse University Department of Drama offers degree programs in acting, musical theater, theater design and technology, stage management, and theater management utilizing conservatory-style training in a university setting and in collaboration with Syracuse Stage.
