WHICH MOP FITS?
Buying a mophead can be more complicated than it first seems. Not only do you have to consider the type of mophead required for your cleaning environment and operational efficiencies, you also need to consider your current mopping system and any existing handles you wish to reuse. To make things simpler for you, we have listed your mophead options based on your SYR mopping system choice and to help you identify how our mopheads fit onto a handle we have split them into the three categories below.
Interchange handles are at the core of most SYR cleaning tools, allowing for quick and easy swapping of tools by using just one handle
Kentucky mopping involves a re-usable clip to attach mopheads to, providing a simple and strong solution to work with detachable mops
Simply twist and screw to create a secure fitting between the handle and mop. A traditional approach to mopping.

COLOUR CODED CLEANING
Colour coded cleaning is the process of designating colours to cleaning equipment in certain areas of a venue, reducing the spread of germs across areas and increasing hygiene throughout a business or home. GENERAL WASHROOM
GENERAL LOWER RISK AREA
GENERAL FOOD & BAR USE
CLINICAL/ HEALTHCARE
RED BLUE GREEN YELLOW
WHY IS COLOUR CODING SO USEFUL? Using a single mop to clean every floor in a restaurant, for example, can spread bacteria from the washrooms and toilets to kitchen and food preparation areas. This carries with it an inherent risk of cross contamination and consequently, illness. Applying a colour coded system to segregate sensitive areas from one another is the most efficient and effective way of reducing the risk of cross contamination.

HOW TO CLEAN SAFETY FLOORING
Due to the nature of ‘Safety’ flooring, conventional mopping will not, on its own, effectively clean the floor. The mop simply deposits dirt into the micro troughs of the surface and edges which not only leaves the floor looking dirty, but will eventually take away most of the effectiveness of a safety flooring. To effectively clean this type of flooring the use of some form of brushware to reach into the micro troughs is required. This can be achieved using what SYR describe as a heavy duty floor cleaning method - this requires the use of existing mop and buckets but also a Scrator brush or Deck brush, Grout brush and Floor Squeegee. The procedure would be as follows: 1
Section off an area to be cleaned and put out warning signs.
2 3 4
Use the mop and bucket (with cleaning agent), to wet area – at this time do not use the wringer as you will need to wet clean.
5
Use the Squeegee, at a comfortable arms length, pull the squeegee towards you, and tap to take off the excess water, slightly overlap for the second pass, and repeat until whole area is covered.
Bring all the water into one area, and then mop up the remaining residue.
Use the Scrator brush or Deck brush (dependant of size of area) to sweep over the wet area, and the grout brush if required in tiled areas or where there are 90º angles i.e. floor meeting wall. Go over the area with the mop, to take up the excess water.

GROUT BRUSH
FLOOR SQUEEGEE
Using this method will not only remove the majority of water off the floor, resulting in a dryer floor but will also remove more dirt residue, resulting in a clean safe floor with hardly any streak or scuff marks. This method does take more time than a standard mopping process, therefore it is suggested that a section at a time is undertaken. If the process seems too long or complex to the cleaning operative, then the risk is that the task will not be completed effectively. A rota could split areas to ensure that all areas where this type of flooring is present would be cleaned using this heavy duty method a section at a time probably once a week i.e. a corridor, dining area or a classroom, whilst other methods i.e. standard mopping or use of the floor machine be used at all other times. If and where possible to reduce time, it is effective to use a two person team, this would involve person one doing procedures 2, 4 and 6, whilst person two would complete procedures 3 and 5. There is no quick and easy fix for cleaning this type of flooring, but by using the methods as described, it would mean that a good clean and effective safety floor can be easily maintained, rather than be allowed to get into a poor condition that will take away the effectiveness of safety flooring in the first place.

HOW TO CLEAN USING AN OVAL SOCKET MOP
Screw on your handle of choice.
2 Spin out the mophead and lay flat, this is perfect for directional cleaning, keeping consistent pressure on the mophead. 3 Next, you can use each side of the mophead for general mopping, which covers a large surface area and pulls in dirt. 4 Unlike competitors, we have designed an oval socket, always mop with the socket flush with the floor, this will prevent the socket from catching the floor, which may leave scratches and marks.
