WHEN A LISTED HISTORIC BUILDING IS THE INSTALL SITE
The one thing you can generally say about listed buildings is that they never contain straight walls and rarely a single 90° angle, so the design and installation of a modern workshop into an historic structure brings its own challenges.

For dk engineering the look is vital. when their customers come in they see the cars then their eyes take in the workshop.
The Little Green Street Farm facilities of DK Engineering includes a workshop large enough to work on many Ferraris at a time (there is always a long list of cars patiently waiting for attention by the DK specialist engineers), a machine shop, rolling road, dedicated engine shop, which System Store
System Store Solutions has become specialists in this type of workshop build, and not least because of the long term partnership with DK Engineering. As a globally renowned Ferrari Specialist who deals in the sales, acquisition, turnkey restoration, race and concourse preparation, as well as servicing parts and storage of Ferraris, DK Engineering has grown considerably since their inception in 1977. With their workshops being housed in beautiful listed buildings, the installation of a workspace that complements the buildings and the work being done to the classic Ferrari’s is certainly a challenge but one System Store Solutions excels at. The team at System Store Solutions enjoy working with David Cottingham, founder of DK engineering, who has a very clear idea of how a workshop should be. Firstly easy to clean durable work surfaces and plenty of storage space to keep tools and parts in specific locations to give an almost laboratory feel to the workshops, making the environment a pleasure to both work in and visit.
Solutions has kitted out with a range of workbenches, bespoke units, mobile workstations and specialist cabinets. All fitted into the beautiful Victorian barns with care and consideration for their surroundings, making a practical and sympathetic environment to work on some of the most beautiful cars ever made.

A partnership that has seen a decade of developments and growth caring for the world’s finest cars is as much about the cars as it is about the tools and workshops as GTO Engineering plans it’s next steps There are few people in the world who do not know of the legendary name Ferrari and even dream of owning one of Enzo Ferrari’s iconic creations. Certainly, unlike your every day runaround, any classic Ferrari owner is assured in the knowledge that their car will not devalue with age and currently is likely to increase in value. With the first Ferrari emerging from the Maranello factory in 1947, it embodied the passion and determination of Enzo Ferrari, and a classic Ferrari today is often considered to be one of the world’s most sought after collectables, as well as a very wise investment. GTO Engineering is a global leader in the restoration and care of these classic Ferraris for both on the road and track and the Lyon family, who own and run the business, have the same passion and consideration for perfection Enzo had. The team at System Store Solutions are delighted that they have been an integral part of GTO Engineering’s development for over a decade now and the partnership showcases the attitude of both companies to deliver the best quality in craftsmanship and service for their customers. From the start Mark Lyon, founder of GTO Engineering has striven for his workshop to fit the quality and craftsmanship seen in the Ferraris being worked on and today the workshop at GTO Engineering has in excess of 20 cars being restored, maintained, or prepared for racing, with a further 10-15 held in storage for customers. In addition, GTO Engineering sources and even makes various parts too rare to find, and this is an area of the business that is also growing immensely quickly. Throughout this time System Store Solutions has worked with Mark to deliver an environment that gives the engineers a clean and functional workspace. Now GTO Engineering has made the bold move to design and build a state of the art workspace, with individual workstations for up to 20 cars being worked on, machine rooms, parts and tool rooms as well as storage areas to fit their growing needs. With the amount of history being worked on, the Lyon family are also integrating a museum into the building, to showcase the multitude of blueprints and historical parts from the rarest of Ferraris they own. It is good to know these beautiful classics will be in safe hands for many decades to come.

Storage Solutions Designs Specific to the Needs of the Customer New Forest Classic Cars attention to their car components is second to none
New Forest Classic Cars are specialists in the complete restoration of the iconic Jaguar E-type Series 1. As new customers to System Store Solutions they gave us a very interesting brief. They were looking for dedicated mobile storage units which would have foam drawer inserts cut specifically for the parts taken off an E-Type. For News Forest Classic Cars this means their attention to detail throughout their rebuilds and restorations of the Series 1 will always be maintained, with each Series 1 having its own personal part storage unit ensuring the car stays together with their parts from restoration to paint shop to rebuild. By doing this, New Forest Classic Cars ensures each car’s heritage and restoration is kept to the original factory specification as detailed in the Jaguar Heritage Certificate. For System Store Solutions it has been great to adapt the tool protection inserts to protect the parts of these magnificent cars. More detailed information on this project check out the System Store Solutions website news page.
From Retro styles to A e r o s pa c e s ta n d a r d s All our customers have one thing in common – to find a way to keep their work area tidy and to maximise the efficiency of their workforce. Where they differ is in the range and size of different designs and storage solutions they select for their needs. Over the years we often find that a storage solution we have designed for one sector of our work is ideal for another. For example, the bespoke design for a museum glass fronted storage works well when displaying trophies or delicate parts, a cabinet with a rolling shelving system designed for a large automotive manufacturer was ideal for the storage of specialised parts in the historic sector.
