The University of Bolton & RLR Msport The University of Bolton is one of the few academic locations in Britain where students have the opportunity to study Automotive Performance Engineering by working closely with local employers, and with a respected LMP2 team, RLR Msport, which has been located within the university campus, and System Store Solutions were involved in the re-location from the start. This was an exciting opportunity for the team with consideration needed for providing an efficient workspace for the RLR engineers as well as space for the university students to study and observe.

Carlin Motorsport Work is set to begin on ‘Phase 2’ of Carlin’s workshop where the team will be increasing the number of race bays to manage the expansion of drivers to the team.

System Store Solutions at the Heart of the Way Forward for Motorsport Training System Store Solutions was invited to design and build the workspace environment for RLR Msport after team owner and head lecturer of the Automotive Performance Engineering department, Nick Reynolds, saw the work we had completed at F1 teams Red Bull Racing and Caterham.

“We saw the system used for Red Bull Racing and Caterham F1 set-ups and it was exactly what we wanted here for the team RLR workshops at the University of Bolton. Now we have it installed it’s superb and a real selling point for CAPE (Centre of Automotive Performance Engineering), and a fabulous space for students to gain a real feel for working as part of a race team. Everyone’s delighted with it!”

The Centre has been fitted out with specialist worktops and storage cabinets, including study zones for the students where it is possible to take notes and observe the team at work whilst still central to the action. There was an additional

fully kitted out composites room and a separate laboratory also designed and installed, which enables the University of Bolton to offer the very best in degree courses, in BSc and BEng, as well as ensuring

RLR Msport has an environment to build the best car for the seasons campaign.

In particular, the university and team chose a very hard wearing Trespa worktop which is not only very durable but looks stunning and turns the whole area into a great showcase zone for all visitors to get a real feel of the quality of work being undertaken. Again we worked seamlessly with our worktop solutions partner, Eaton Timber Solutions, to create the stunning finish achieved.

Facilitating the Installation of a New Workspace for Greaves Motorsport and 3D Engineering

Jacob Greaves, owner of Greaves Motorsport explains “With the new 10,000 sqm build we had the perfect opportunity to install a workspace that was a practical, clean and modular, to suit our needs in delivering competitive cars. At the core of our team is Greaves

3D Engineering so we looked for bespoke, turnkey workspace solutions that matched our needs for both the racing team and the engineering side of

our business.

System Store Solutions designed and installed the workshop, engineering facility and island unit bases with four machine slots, which would work as hubs within the workshop. Also installed was a mezzanine floor and 2 race bays for the Nissan powered Zytek’s with all the lines and storage required to run the team effectively and efficiently.

“The work was carried out while we were at Sebring so gave us the minimum of fuss during the install period and we returned to find the System Store Solutions team had worked to a very high standard, giving us exactly what we asked for – a clean, high quality workspace where we can develop our

Carlin Continue to Expand on their Race Bays For Carlin’s technicians it is imperative that they have a clean and efficient working environment to match the standards of today’s F1 team race bays, so they can deliver motorsport stars of the future.

Our original work was completed to the exact requirements and delight of Trevor Carlin, owner of the team, and he is now looking to the Phase 2 expansion of the workshops, inviting System Store Solutions to again provide the perfect install solutions. Phase 2 includes the provision of further race bays to both the Formula Renault 3.5 series and the F3 championship sides of the team, to enhance the highly efficient, tidy and functional workspace already in place.
