Lab combines the function of an art gallery, space, garden, discussion forum and a social area. Each space was designed to adapt to the changing atmosphere and functional needs. The design concept is to create a journey for the visitors, from building up curiosity and anticipation, to getting inspired by the exhibits, and finally providing a platform for discussions.

The project combines the work of a group of the most innovative companies from all over the world. Led by QUAD Studio as the main interior space designer and curator.Working with digital artists teamLab from Japan, landscape consultant Patrick Blanc from France, industrial designer Ross Lovegrove from England, and exhibition specialist Motse from China, QUAD’s role is similar to a movie director, pulling the strings of the different design talents together and to integrating all these creations into a single space.

Concept Zoning

Each zone of C Future Lab has an artist or consultant we worked with to enrich each art or technological experience, these including Nagami,Ross Lovegrove,Patrick Blanc,Teamlab and Motse. They designed the media art display throughout the exhibition as well as some important furniture such as the reception sculpture with 3D printing technology.

Furniture in the rest of the Lab is trying to resonate with the organic overall design theme from the reception. Hence we designed our own water basin in organic shape. Echoed by the sleek design of the ceiling mounted aashbasin taps.

The basin is custome made by stacking several marble stone together to create a giant mass illusion.

This is a high end residential interior design for one of the longest client who is a great lover for tea and gatherings. He also adores incorporation of Chinese culture into his home.

Thedesignofthearchitectureisamoderninterpretation of Siheyuan which is embodies a green courtyard into the top floor where the exhibition and tea gathering space is. The programs are all surrounding the green courtyard which let light through with glass wall. All space from gathering space to exhibition space you can enjoy the scenery from the courtyard everywhere. In terms of materials we used layered materials to create Asian decorative wall with the modern touch of materials that gives a shine on the surface.

On the top floor a plain white colour mood is selected to enhance the zen vibes and to create more contrast with the greeneries from the courtyard. It is made to be a quiet and peaceful space that is perfect for any tea ceremony with the complimentary experience of art display.

My involvement in this project include designing throughout concept stage in charging the exhibitional space and the living room area as well as its reception.

Rhonghu Phase 4 Mixed Use Development 05

Rhonghu Phase 4 Development is a mixed-use development situated in Rong Gang, Shenzhen, it has the site which connects the high rail station and the residential area up North and it will be the public space that connects the pedestrian flow from both area.

My participation in this project include finishing up the concept design and help fully develop design in schemactic and detail design stage. The planning application has been approved in 2020 July and it meant to enter construction stage in 2020 September. Our design scope include also the lighting design of the facade and resolve them in detailing. Also partial interior design such as ceiling and storefront of those opened retail street area.

The design is kept clean to save cost for client and holds the concept of fluidity which resonates with the district name “Rhonghu“ which means lake in chinese.

One of the design challenges include resolving drastic height difference from the North to the South of the site. Needing to resolve entry area with landscape design.
