Type: Residential; Reconstruction Design/Built: 2014/2018 Involvement: Tender drawings to completion; design and project management under guidance of a senior architect A 1960s dwelling home atop a hill is to be developed and reconstructed with the intention of retaining the features from before. Due to plot size change at site, the house is to be “chopped” at its sides, whilte adding volumes to accomodate new spaces such as a new garage, kitchen, and bedroom requirements of the house. New brick volumes were added as a homage to the family’s legacy in the brickwork business. Additionally, on the perspective of aesthetic interpretation, concrete imprinting methods, inspired by the artist Rachel Whiteread, are methods that were explored to memorialize the features of the past.

A small detached house that was designed with the intent to create a monastic refuge in a site that faced acoustic disturbances from its proximity to a heavily used road. M a g u r o We av e : T h e Tu n a G at e w ay As a reaction from the relocation of Tsukiji Market, the Tuna Gateway will house a new market infrastructure that funnels tuna goods from Ginza Highway, into the district. It will serve as a quality and quantity control hub, while providing facilities and place for tuna-handlers. It is also an architecture of memorial, commemorating the declining population of Blue Fin Tuna, to bring a subtle hint of awareness to a consumption that is running a natural supply dry.

Architecture with Social impact Urban Insertion TACK
def : To temporarily hold a seam or trim in place until it can be permanently sewn. Design Intention The design seeks to stitch the disconnection between multiple user groups in site the site-particularly the adjacent hopsital and surrounding young families. The project aims to not treat architecture as an icon, but rather an urban catalyst to promote public use for communities in the neighbourhood on multitudes of levels.
