FROM THE DESK OF T BAR C...
Welcome to the 20th Annual “Best of the Breeds” Bull Sale on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Heartland Livestock, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. It has taken twenty years...but well worth the “weight!”
2024 is the largest and strongest lineup ever presented by the Best of the Breed consignors. In the past twenty years this sale has been a “onestop” shopping center in supplying value added sires for both commercial and purebred sectors alike. These breeds, the Whites, the Sims, the Gups and the Red and Black Angus compliment themselves in producing the ideal feeder calf and replacement heifers.
The Charolais offering is exciting...the Harcourts offer sons of Summit, Badge, and Patriot...homo polled, full of muscle and capacity. Dog Patch introduces a new outcross in Ruger, and the big weaning sire Highlight as well as a large lineup of sons by the predictable Houston. A great set of bulls with breeder potential. The folks at Fairview bring the strongest set of bulls since inception. What a Fleck/Fullblood offering they present. Mainly polled, and homo polled, this is one of the largest offerings of Fullbloods in the country. The Purebreds are hairy, rugged, and will work with all types of programs...reds, blacks, and blazes. Fairview can fill your Simmental needs.
Blair and family bring you a top set of Gelbvieh prospects sired by Hitch and Element. All homo polled...red in colour with one black heifer bull. These bulls are optimum in calving ease and will add pounds at weaning...you’ll want to keep their daughters for replacement pastures.
Black Ridge Angus offer sons of Homegrown, a new sire in their program...you will like their style, shape and hair with optimal birth weight. Sons of Bravo will add power, while Bankroll will add length and the DeWalt’s will add maternal replacement strength into his female progeny.
The boys at Twin Heritage offer an exciting presentation sired by Helix...bulls with calving ease and maternal strength where you will want to keep all the daughters. Consistent in type and kind the Helix sons will add style and eye appeal.
Plan to be with us on March 24th in person, on the phone or online, and do not hesitate to give any of us at T Bar a call as we can assist you with your purchases in a professional and confidential manner.

HARCOURT CHAROLAIS
What a great time to be in the beef business. Long overdue we all say! With all projections saying this will last for 3 years or more it pays to invest in good bulls. Bulls with calving ease, performance and fertility. Our bulls offer all three traits in one athletic package. There is a bull for every budget in our group, but no matter what you choose you can be confident he will work for you and produce a calf that is first cut at the auction mart. Char cross calves bring a premium because feed lots love them for how they perform and yield. Bonus is they don’t need a tag to tell you the breed of the sire. Char bulls stamp their calves no matter what breed the cow is. Take advantage of what Charolais has to offer. We look forward to seeing you all sale day!

Renegade is a great young Summit son that will throw calves that will have extra hair and big tops. Sound from the ground up, this herd bull will work on any type of cow. Longevity is built in as his mother is still producing top calves at the age of 11 years old. His sire was our high seller to Sonderup Charolais in Nebraska a few years ago. His calves are consistent in their fertility and soundness as well as phenotype.
Foundation is a deep sided correct son of the Summit bull. HBC Summit topped our sale at $32,000 to Sonderup Charolais and this herdsire is a typical son. Hairy, correct with a big scrotal. Fertility is high on the Summit sons as is the docility that you can’t beat. He will add hair depth and shape. His mother is made as good as you can make them. Moderate, sound, a heavy milker, with a perfect udder and teat size.
DOUBLE POLLED 2 2
CHARBURG
302L is a calving ease bull that will still give you the performance that we expect when using a Charolais herd sire. He has enough frame to breed mature cows and will work great on a set of Angus/Simmental cows.

Riptide is one of the longest and smoothest bulls we have this year. He has a great foot under him and a big set of red nuts. Riptide was shown successfully at Prince Albert Fair this past summer where he was named Grand Champion Charolais bull. His dam 252H is fast becoming one of the best cows on the place. She was high selling bred heifer 3 years ago from the Steppler program. Consistently producing top dollar offspring is what we strive to have in our herd and 252H is one of those cows.
307L is right at the top of the pen for performance combined with calving ease. He is long sided and very correct with a nice big foot. He has a great haircoat and that herd bull skull. The dam of 307L is 9 years old and still has a perfect udder and great feet. She is also one of our top producing cows. She is the dam of our last 2 entries in the Superstar Sale. Check him out. He is a can’t miss herd sire.
3RD GEN POLLED
308L is the biggest topped stoutest bull in the pen. He has incredible muscle expression he is sure to pass to his calves. Deep bodied, long spined, good haired, correct and quiet are a few of the words I would use to describe him. He is a maternal brother to our donor cow HBC Temptation 802F. Cow family behind this sire is top end.

DOGPATCH CHAROLAIS
Welcome to the 20‘th edition of the Best of the Breeds Bull Sale. Thank you to our repeat buyers, bidders and the new customers that support our program. We focus our breeding on the main areas that cattlemen look at when purchasing a new bull; calving ease, growth and performance, hair, soundness and docility. We provide stout, moderate framed bulls that can get out and service your cows.
This year the majority of our bulls are sired by our two senior herd sires. LEO Houston and LAE Highlight that pass on attributes like great hair, polled performance and docility. Both bulls are known for their exceptional calving ease and structural soundness, thickness and hair coats that make today’s Charolais cross calves in demand. We also used some exciting new AI sires to compliment our own bull battery. Again focusing on new genetics that still provide the key attributes we look for.
As an added feature we are offering a group of coming 2 year old virgin bulls. As many of you know we keep some of the younger calves back as insurance bulls for our customers in case they have a wreck during the summer. Our customers can be confident knowing we have bulls ready to get you through a troubled time. They were developed on free choice hay and we started them on screening pellets this December. These bulls are sound and ready to go to work, and we are proud to offer them. Please call or drop by the farm if you have questions or to view the bulls and their mothers. See you in Yorkton!

FORDEN FAIRVIEW FARM LTD.
Welcome to our 20th Annual Bull Sale. It is great to look back and see where this sale has come from to now be one of the most diverse bull sales around, by breed, quality and quantity. We have been in the Simmental business since the mid 70’s and are soon approaching out 50th year in the breed. We greatly appreciate the loyalty and support we have received over the years and look forward to meeting everyone at the sale on March 24th.
This year’s group of bulls is the most diverse we have ever offered with new AI and walking sires plus our largest selection of ET bulls. If you’re looking for homo polled fleckvieh bulls we have a wide variety to choose from and possibly the most you will find at any sale in the country. We have been building our polled fleckvieh program for over 20 years, long before it was popular. We also have a good selection of red and black bulls, providing the full spectrum available within the breed. All bulls are DNA tested for colour, dilutor and polled or are known by pedigree. This is an investment we make each year offering you more certainty in your breeding program. We moved to a TMR ration for the bulls this year, consisting of barley & alfalfa silage, hay, super oats and a protein pellet. The bulls are on a full herd health program and will be double vaccinated with fusogard to reduce the chances of foot rot.
Please join us for our Bull Pen Open House March 16 & 17 1-5 PM at the farm. This is a great opportunity to look over the bulls prior to the sale as well as walk through the cow herd to see the genetic value that comes along with the bulls. Follow us on Facebook “Forden Fairivew Farm – Simmentals” to stay up to date with our program. Videos will be available on our Facebook page, DLMS and buyagro.com in early March. Energy’s grand dam, Jane, has given us 4 daughters and they are turning into very good females. These bulls are very similar in type – long bodied, big topped, hairy with great dark color and heavy pigmented. Big Bang is another extra age bull from our fall program. He is smooth polled, smooth made with good length and thickness deep into his quarter. His sire Theory, has worked very well in our program adding muscle, making great females, providing ease of calving and of course leaving all his calves polled and well pigmented. His first sons in our sale last year averaged over $11,000. Big Bang’s dam is a sister to Fairview Philosophy who has been used in over 30 herds across Canada and is known to shorten gestation and reduce birth weight. It is hard to find bulls with this dark liver red color, we think you will like him when you see him in person.

GOODVIEW GELBVIEH
Welcome to the 20th Annual Best of the Breeds Bull Sale. We are very excited about the bulls we will have on offer once again this year. We will have both red and black bulls that will work both on heifers, as well as performance bulls to produce those scale busting steers. Our bulls come from good footed, neat uddered, low maintenance cows. At Goodview we put a lot of emphasis on our cows, so you can buy with confidence knowing that the bull you purchased is from a sound, problem free cow herd.
Gelbvieh is a continental breed that has very strong maternal traits such as docility and rich milk that is produced in tight, correct udders. Gelbvieh will add that extra muscle to give your calves the extra pounds you’re looking for at sale time. Gelbvieh calves are born with vigor, which is one of the reasons Gelbvieh influenced females wean more pounds of calf per cow exposed. Use Gelbvieh bulls in your crossbreeding program to get early maturing, long lasting females, as well as sale topping steer calves.
We continue to use a high fiber developer program. We wean the bulls off on oats then after 60 days they are pail fed a bull developer ration along with barley silage and grass alfalfa hay. This diet develops a healthy rumen, while maintaining good long-term health. We target a 3.5 lb. average gain to develop good footed, long lasting bulls that will last for their new owners.
Please join us on March 24 in Yorkton to evaluate our bulls and we can talk about your bull needs. If you can’t make the sale, feel free to call or stop by anytime to tour the bull pen and the cows with their 2024 calves at side. Join us Saturday evening at our hotel and stay the night. If you purchase a bull from Goodview Gelbvieh, we will pay for your one-night stay. Please join us for an afternoon of visiting and cattle viewing on Sunday, March 10 for our customer appreciation day and bull viewing. Customer appreciation day and bull viewing SUNDAY, MARCH 10 at 1:00 PM!

BLB Legacy 305L is an attractive herd sire prospect who we are excited to lead off the sale. BLB 305L has a proven pedigree sired by Flad Element 21E who has left his mark siring high selling females in the Function and Finesse female sale, and sons that work in both seedstock and commercial herds. 305L takes after his sire in looks and physical makeup with a big hip and large scrotal. Hitch 23H and Kingston 221K both working here at Goodview and Jetson 124J walking the pastures at Royal Western Gelbvieh and Nelson Gelbvieh. Legacy 305L has a very balanced profile to go along with his overall phenotype. I believe he would fall into the birth weight moderator category. You must see this bull get out and move to really appreciate his big hip and massive volume. Homo polled. BW moderator

BLB Lemans 331L had the highest weaning and highest yearling weight in the pen. He is an absolute tank of a bull. Yet another Hitch son from a powerful TTG 68F Dam. This bull will work really well at adding some frame to your herd as well as siring big dollar calves. Homo polled.

BLACK RIDGE ANGUS
Well what a winter!!!! So fortunate so far to have such nice weather. The animals and the feed pile sure appreciate it, especially after the drought summer we experienced. This set of bulls are developing similar to our past bull pens. They have been gaining very well on feed this year since the weather has been exceptional. They are not pushed, and we feel they are in excellent shape to go out and breed. Feel free to call or stop by at anytime. Please also check out our facebook page for pictures, videos and updates.

The heaviest bull calf out of the Jaxon sire at weaning, she really worked hard on this guy. Granddam is ol’ 22X who is still here raising big growthy calves.
A really unique calf, extremely thick and heavy muscled on a moderate frame. This guy was shown in 4H with his dam this year. This pair did very well for Lane. His dam is a daughter of the popular Miller Wilson Maximus bull. Not sure if we should sell this guy.
LFE BA BRAVO 389G
We purchased Bravo, the 2020 lead off high selling Black Angus bull from Lewis Farms. Before they sold him, Lewis Farms drew semen and used him in their own herd. He has a great spread of an 80lb birth weight to 1537lb yearling weight, and is in the top 10% of the breed for growth. He is hairy, stout, moderate but exceptionally thick with large testicles, and he has passed that down to his calves.

A real standout, a favorite all year long by many, and was Shane’s top pick when he was through the pen this year. He has that “look” and a real cool twist to the pedigree, as his mom is an own daughter of Whitestone Widespread. This guy is long, wide, deep, strong foot and bone with great angus character. Quality and depth of pedigree run deep in this bull. His dam was a top end heifer calf, and to raise a bull that posts an 800lb 205 day weight here is excellent. We hope she follows in her mother’s and grandmother’s footsteps and keeps raising good ones.
This fellow is a bigger framed bull that will add frame to his calves. a real eye catcher in the pen, nice front end, excellent hair, well balanced and thick.

A bull that has been noticed all year long. This guy is very wide across the top, long, super hairy, big belly and very quiet too. These Bravo sons are peas in a pod. His pedigree is solid, Banknote, Bravo, Donna, Upward and Predominant.

A twin raised on his dam with his brother. The other twin was injured ended up a steer, but she raised them both. This guy has really come on after weaning and is a top notch bull. Hairy, big middle and butt. Dam has raised bulls that have sold to Marsh Ranches, Dwayne Flaman and James Petrar.

If you are looking for some power and frame this guy has it. Out of a 12 year old cow who raises a big calf every year and shows no signs of slowing down. He has excellent hair, bone and a big foot, just a real solid bull with large testicles. A real ranch bull that will cover ground
When Shane toured the bull pen this year, this was one of his favorites. This bull easily floats to the top of the pen and was a favorite all year. They don’t make them much stouter than this guy, he is deep, thick, and full of muscle in a very attractive package. His young dam is a moderate young female with this being her second calf and he pulled off at a 800lb 205 day weight. We think that is impressive!

MCCRAES DEWALT 428G
Our second set of calves from this bull, he is a moderate beef machine, low to the ground with an excellent foot under him. He has big nuts, small angus head, walks like a cat and for the past two years has been used on a section of rocky pasture with 80 cows and he never loses weight. He sires deep middled heavily muscled bull calves which are impressive.

Out of a favorite 13 year old cow, who has had a few bulls go through this sale. The Dewalt calves are moderate beef machines and will make excellent females. This guy will be no exception, deep moderate with longevity built right in.
BAR EL BANKROLL 31H
These next bulls are out a bull we purchased from BAR EL in partnership with BJ’s Cattle Company. He is a son of the popular Brooking Firebrand and out of one of the top cows at BAR EL. We lost Firebrand but still have some semen in the tank.
A top bull in the pen out of a second calver that has a strong cow family behind her. Excellent hair and thickness to this fellow for a March born calf. Solid pedigree on both sides, and we love the maternal side of this fellow. The Bankroll brothers that sold in December at BJ’s Cattle Company averaged $6800.00 and were the top sellers in the sale.

A top Bankroll bull that is thick from nose to tail, well balanced, excellent hair and out of a good young cow. She is working her way into being a top producer here. Her bull last year was a top weaning weight bull and sold through this sale last year to King Ranches.

TWIN HERITAGE FARMS
Welcome to another bull sale season and thank you for your interest and support of our program throughout the years. The bulls that we have this year are backed by proven genetics and a cow herd built with an emphasis on fertility, sound udder structure, and good feet. We welcome you to check out the herd and mothers of these bulls in person as we are confident that you will be hard pressed to find a bad foot or udder. We take great pride in having developed a herd focussed on these important attributes that are all too often overlooked.
We started the bulls a little later with feed this year but you can be assured, they will be ready to breed when you need them. We continue to pail feed a balanced bull developer ration to ensure responsible development and longevity with access to free choice hay, mineral, and water. The weights provided are actuals with WW taken early in the fall on August 28 and YW taken on February 11.
It’s always good to see you on sale day, but if you are not comfortable attending the sale in person, for whatever reason, please stop by the farm in advance or give one of us a call if you have any questions. We encourage you to check out our website at www.twinheritage.com for viewing of the bull sale videos. Also, head over to DLMS.com if you have not already signed up to view and bid online.

This is the second set of sons to be sold out of our Helix 635H bull. We are extremely impressed with how easy the Helix calves were born and how the bulls have developed. The sons have calving ease appeal with moderate BW, length, and style. Helix’s exceptional dam has been a long-time herd matron and donor cow at Wilbar. It is evident from the first calf heifers, that the Helix 635H daughters will impress with strong maternal traits and tidy even udders. These sons are noted for their balance, length of body, testicle development, and calving ease appeal.
