DELIVERY: We will assist in making transportation arrangements outside MB and SK. All costs are the responsibility of the buyer. You may be asked to take your bull early if the truck is in your area. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Welcome to the 20th Annual “Best of the Breeds” Bull Sale on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Heartland Livestock, Yorkton, Saskatchewan. It has taken twenty years...but well worth the “weight!”
2024 is the largest and strongest lineup ever presented by the Best of the Breed consignors. In the past twenty years this sale has been a “onestop” shopping center in supplying value added sires for both commercial and purebred sectors alike. These breeds, the Whites, the Sims, the Gups and the Red and Black Angus compliment themselves in producing the ideal feeder calf and replacement heifers.
The Charolais offering is exciting...the Harcourts offer sons of Summit, Badge, and Patriot...homo polled, full of muscle and capacity. Dog Patch introduces a new outcross in Ruger, and the big weaning sire Highlight as well as a large lineup of sons by the predictable Houston. A great set of bulls with breeder potential. The folks at Fairview bring the strongest set of bulls since inception. What a Fleck/Fullblood offering they present. Mainly polled, and homo polled, this is one of the largest offerings of Fullbloods in the country. What a great time to be in the beef business. Long overdue we all say! With all projections saying this will last for 3 years or more it pays to invest in good bulls. Bulls with calving ease, performance and fertility. Our bulls offer all three traits in one athletic package. Char cross calves bring a premium because feed lots love them for how they perform and yield. Bonus is they don’t need a tag to tell you the breed of the sire. Renegade is a great young Summit son that will throw calves that will have extra hair and big tops. Sound from the ground up, this herd bull will work on any type of cow. Longevity is built in as his mother is still producing top calves at the age of 11 years old. His sire was our high seller to Sonderup Charolais in Nebraska a few years ago. His calves are consistent in their fertility and soundness as well as phenotype.
Foundation is a deep sided correct son of the Summit bull. HBC Summit topped our sale at $32,000 to Sonderup Charolais and this herdsire is a typical son. Hairy, correct with a big scrotal. Fertility is high on the Summit sons as is the docility that you can’t beat. He will add hair depth and shape. His mother is made as good as you can make them. Moderate, sound, a heavy milker, with a perfect udder and teat size.

Rocket has the most shape and overall completeness of the whole pen. He is super attractive and very sound from the ground up. For those of you that are looking for an option to run with some heifers, this guy fits the bill perfectly. You can use him on any type of cow. He will add hair and correct faults. Moderate and quiet. Just take a look at his genetic profile. His mother is a tank of a female that produces a good one every year. She is also in the top 2% for weaning, 3% yearling and top 2% for scrotal.

Riptide is one of the longest and smoothest bulls we have this year. He has a great foot under him and a big set of red nuts. Riptide was shown successfully at Prince Albert Fair this past summer where he was named Grand Champion Charolais bull. His dam 252H is fast becoming one of the best cows on the place. She was high selling bred heifer 3 years ago from the Steppler program. Consistently producing top dollar offspring is what we strive to have in our herd and 252H is one of those cows.
307L is right at the top of the pen for performance combined with calving ease. He is long sided and very correct with a nice big foot. He has a great haircoat and that herd bull skull. The dam of 307L is 9 years old and still has a perfect udder and great feet. She is also one of our top producing cows. She is the dam of our last 2 entries in the Superstar Sale. Check him out. He is a can’t miss herd sire.
3RD GEN POLLED
308L is the biggest topped stoutest bull in the pen. He has incredible muscle expression he is sure to pass to his calves. Deep bodied, long spined, good haired, correct and quiet are a few of the words I would use to describe him. He is a maternal brother to our donor cow HBC Temptation 802F. Cow family behind this sire is top end.

a bull with a good square hip and a strong top that shows his natural thickness throughout his moderate frame. Sired by HRJ Maverick, who has been used successfully on heifers and cows alike. We are excited to offer another Gillette calf for sale this year. Gillette was our high selling bull in the 2018 sale and was the senior herd sire for HEJ Charolais in Alberta for years. His mother was a top pick in the Springside dispersal and raised a $ 10,000 bull bought by VAL Charolais in Oregon, USA. last year. CHAR-LEWS HUXLEY 150H
Lieutenant is a deep sided, great haired young sire with a big square hip. He will make an excellent cross on any female helping to produce those calves with extra volume, hair coats and lean red meat that pays the bills. Crossing on blacks or reds will result in the hairy polled calves that will make the buyers come alive. A very attractive birth weight just adds to this package.
With an appealing birth weight of 97 lbs., you can send Limestone out with confidence knowing the calving ease is built in, not to mention his fleshing ability. Long, smooth, sound and polled are some great features of Limestone. He walks out like he is on the runway and is ready to go. A calving ease and performance based pedigree back up this package. Eager to get to work, Limestone will sire some great offspring as he contributes to your bottom line.
Longevity built in. Luther is a bigger framed bull with lots of stretch, but doesn’t give up thickness. He will reach the mature cows this spring and add length and pounds to your calf crop. Koho is long as a freight train and just as wide. A tidy front end to ensure calving ease is followed by a long spine and big pants. He moves like a cat, and will be able to cover a lot of pasture regardless of the terrain. An abundant hair coat, as well as being well equipped to do the job with a big scrotal measurement. Koho was unable to attend the sale last year so we used him as clean-up in our heifer pen. We have a few calves off him with birth weights in the 80’s and tons of hair. With high calving ease and yearling weight numbers, Koho is ready to work for you in your heifer pen or cow herd! Top 10% for milk, top 20% birth weight, top 25% calving ease.
Keystone is a 2 year old bull that would be safe to throw in a pen of heifers. With just an 80 pound birth weight and high calving ease EPD, you can be confident when turning him out with any breed of heifers. His pedigree goes back to one of the breed’s legendary calving ease sires, Lt Wyoming Wind, who was a staple in terms of AI breeding for heifers. With smooth shoulders and a small head, the calves will come easily. A real sleep easy bull! Top 25% birth weight, top 30% calving ease, top 35 % weaning weight.

If you are in need of a moderate framed 2 year old that will cover some cows and provide stress free calving, Klancy is just the ticket. Just by looking at his EPDs you notice his high calving ease and low birth weight numbers followed by some good growth numbers. Good feet and legs will allow Klancy to cover the big pastures in any terrain. Top 20% birth weight, top 25 % for calving ease.
Kilowatt is a well muscled bull with nice shape. Sound with a good running platform, and a great birth weight out of an older cow. He too has the same thick hair coat we see on all the Houston calves. Kilowatt’s strong top and good hip flows deep down into his quarter. Welcome to our 20th Annual Bull Sale. It is great to look back and see where this sale has come from to now be one of the most diverse bull sales around, by breed, quality and quantity. We have been in the Simmental business since the mid 70’s and are soon approaching out 50th year in the breed. This year’s group of bulls is the most diverse we have ever offered with new AI and walking sires plus our largest selection of ET bulls. We have been building our polled fleckvieh program for over 20 years, long before it was popular. We also have a good selection of red and black bulls, providing the full spectrum available within the breed. All bulls are DNA tested for colour, dilutor and polled or are known by pedigree. This is an investment we make each year offering you more certainty in your breeding program. We moved to a TMR ration for the bulls this year, consisting of barley & alfalfa silage, hay, super oats and a protein pellet. The bulls are on a full herd health program and will be double vaccinated with fusogard to reduce the chances of foot rot.

It is very rewarding when your heifers can wean bull calves at nearly 850 lbs. Vito’s dam is a beautiful uddered FGAF Passport daughter who did a bang up job raising this fella. Another good pair of Manhattan sons coming from a powerful, nice uddered, heavy milking daughter from our Sering cow family. Las Vegas was raised on their dam and Cairo was moved to another cow that did a nice job on him. These twin bulls are long-spined with a well-rounded rear quarter and heavy hair coat. We have been very impressed with Manhattan’s consistency of birth weight and calving ease his first two seasons. His average birth weight has been 95 lbs over the two years and the calves come easy and are vigorous at birth. Here is another Jeremiah son out of a good Payroll female. We don’t get many calves marked like Odyssey, but is he ever good. He is thick, deep and loaded with muscle. Often times polled fullblood bulls with one horned parent will have scurs to some extent. Most times they are small loose scurs and hardly noticeable without clipping. These bulls will sire as many polled calves as a smooth polled bull and his daughters will rarely show scurs based on how the genetics work. Gelbvieh is a continental breed that has very strong maternal traits such as docility and rich milk that is produced in tight, correct udders. Gelbvieh will add that extra muscle to give your calves the extra pounds you’re looking for at sale time. Gelbvieh calves are born with vigor, which is one of the reasons Gelbvieh influenced females wean more pounds of calf per cow exposed. Use Gelbvieh bulls in your crossbreeding program to get early maturing, long lasting females, as well as sale topping steer calves.
We continue to use a high fiber developer program. We wean the bulls off on oats then after 60 days they are pail fed a bull developer ration along with barley silage and grass alfalfa hay. This diet develops a healthy rumen, while maintaining good long-term health. We target a 3.5 lb. average gain to develop good footed, long lasting bulls that will last for their new owners.

A real standout, a favorite all year long by many, and was Shane’s top pick when he was through the pen this year. He has that “look” and a real cool twist to the pedigree, as his mom is an own daughter of Whitestone Widespread. This guy is long, wide, deep, strong foot and bone with great angus character. Quality and depth of pedigree run deep in this bull. His dam was a top end heifer calf, and to raise a bull that posts an 800lb 205 day weight here is excellent. Out of a favorite 13 year old cow, who has had a few bulls go through this sale. The Dewalt calves are moderate beef machines and will make excellent females. This guy will be no exception, deep moderate with longevity built right in.

Terms:
The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.
Bidding:
Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. In the case of a dispute, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.
Announcements:
All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.
Breeder’s Guarantee:
Should any bull fourteen (14) months of age or over fail to prove a breeder after being used on females known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six (6) months following the date of purchase or six (6) months after the bull has reached fourteen (14) months of age. The seller will have the right and privilege of six (6) months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.
Exception Guarantee:
In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.
Certificate of Registration:
Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais, Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh Associations.
A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.
Pedigree Estimates
Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.
Health:
All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.
Liabilities:
All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.
It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made here under.
Rights & Obligations:
The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
Phone, Mail, Wire Bids:
Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.
Delivery:
We will assist in making transportation arrangements outside MB and SK. All costs are the responsibility of the buyer. You may be asked to take your bull early if the truck is in your area. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
Insurance:
Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.
Errors:
All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.
