We here at Springhill Farm are honoured and humbled to be invited to the 2023 Mar Mac & Guest Bull Sale. We wish to thank Lois and Blair for their friendship and tremendous support of our program. Although not the bull mecca of the west - there's good cattle here in the Maritimes!

For 3 generations now the Mc Murtrie family has been farming at Springhill in picturesque Fredericton NB. Initially dairy and then pivoting to a commercial beef herd, Springhill Farm has since transitioned to a predominantly registered Red Angus herd.

The Springhill bulls on offer were selected from easy calving, maternally minded females with the ability to raise up a good calf. We need our cattle here in the east to work for a multitude of markets. Sound structure and temperament, reliable genetics, productivity and longevity in an attractive package is what we strive for and works for everybody.

Dynah finally gave us a heifer last year and we liked the cross so much we did it again! Blair spied 1K in the pasture as a calf even before he knew his Mamma was a Mar Mac cow. Both maternal brothers are out working and his maternal sister that Lois picked out of the heifer pen had a stunning bull calf this year. This red stylish bull is going to be an asset on all fronts!

108E is one of our favorites in the herd. Very nice cow we bought as a heifer out of the T Bar K dispersal sale. Lots of SSS breeding behind this cow as well and it shows in her calves. With a moderate birthweight, balanced EPDs and Razor's added performance the 4K bull will be the total package.

The 5F cow and her calves have tremendous temperaments. Maternal brother is doing a great job in the Smith herd and maternal sister did a great job for us with her first calf. Sire Merlin 018A has worked so well for us with great calving ease, birth weights and consistent gains. He has been our go to AI heifer sire. Everyone is in search of new genetics and we bred a couple of Red Angus females to the Six Mile Horizon bull . Horizon was a Black Angus bull we purchased at Six Mile Ranch. We admired his presence, length of body, sound foot and depth of quarter. Horizon sold in our Black Angus dispersal to Leaning Spruce Farm. We hated to part with Horizon so collected some in herd use to try and get some outcross genetics. We ended up with two bull calves one bull we are retaining to use in our program and this 44K we are offering for sale. Good haired, stout made , stylish bull calves , these two are. A Black Red Pedigree with some real interesting potential.
