It’s bull sale season! We receive dozens if not hundreds of bull sale catalogs each year; I’m sure you can relate! Picking up the first ones of the season from the post office feels a bit like Christmas. The excitement of seeing what other programs have to offer that year. What direction are they headed? What’s their catalog layout look like? What’s eye catching? What’s new with their families? Who added members to their family? Who lost someone they loved? Everyone has social media to update others, but there’s something so much more personable about a bull sale catalog! It’s a way to annually “check in” with other cattle producers. We thank you for taking the time to “check in” on us!

If you’re “checking in” with us for the first time, we’re a first-generation ranch. We’ve both been in the cattle industry our whole lives but moved to Kisbey in 2010 for better opportunities. With the support from our families far away, we’ve been here 14 years now, this will be our 13th Annual Bull Sale! Time has flown by. We’ve added 3 fantastic kids, Morgan (9), Quinn (7), and Cole (4). We enjoy watching them become active members of the ranch! They ride horses, chase cows, drive skid steers, run hydraulic squeezes, and live and breathe this industry as much as we do. To us, this is what it’s all about. So, what’s new with our family? In 2023, the girls were able to hit the road and attend some horse shows. There’s lots of preparation, planning, work, and memorization that goes into these! Anyone that shows, cattle or horses, knows how rewarding the day can be! This is Cole’s last year here with us before he heads to Kindergarten in the fall of 2024. Things are sure to be quiet without him here throughout the day! In February, Sarah started her stockdog journey. She’s forever grateful to her friend Michelle, for giving her and her dog a much-needed push towards becoming a working team. Joe is now a crucial part of the ranch, and we didn’t even know he was missing months ago! Lastly, Jim keeps busy with ranching and representing TEAM. He enjoys hitting the road, chatting with other producers, and helping them market their cattle.

We love Right Cross Ranch and are proud of what we’ve created. We enjoy our community, the industry, and providing seedstock for other cattle producers to base their herds around! As you can probably relate, extra labour is one of our biggest challenges though. We don’t have alot of time to spend with each cow. Cows must calve on their own, get their calf up and sucking, and not require a ton of maintenance once they’re out on grass. Cattle with bad udders, questionable feet, or crappy dispositions must go. When we sift through the piles of catalogs looking for our next herd sire, these things are always at the forefront of our brains. We search for a bull with a strong foundation, depth, muscle, good feet, realistic birthweight, backed by a cow with an impressive track record and beautiful udder. We also consider how a bull will adjust to our operation. It’s nice when they arrive and continually strive forward! It’s a great feeling when we find a bull that checks all those boxes! It’s an even better feeling when we raise bulls that meet those needs for our customers as well! In all those catalogs, all those bulls, there’s lots of quality out there. What makes the Right Cross catalog different from the rest? To us, it’s more about the program and the people than the actual bulls themselves. We provide our customers with a product that we’re honest about and stand behind! In last year’s sale, 82% of the bulls went to repeat buyers! Don’t get me wrong, we appreciate new faces in the crowd, but we know they most likely got there from word of mouth from past customers. Thank you for your continued support, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do with you!

RIGHT CROSS RANCH NUTRITION

Right Cross Ranch has a strong focus on nutrition and management for their growing bulls and entire cow herd. Each ration is balanced based on feed analysis and goals for each set of cattle. The bull rations are formulated with 20% coarse chopped hay to encourage cud chewing, a healthy rumen and longevity. Whole oats provides energy to optimize growth. Silage and a custom formulated bull supplement rounds out the bull rations. Slow and steady growth is the goal for Right Cross bulls. It would be great if you have the opportunity to stop by the ranch to check out the bulls and the growing rations prior to the sale.

Welcome to the 13th Annual Right Cross Ranch Red and Black Angus Bull Sale on April 5, 2024, at the ranch, Kisbey, Saskatchewan. Throughout the past decade or so, we have had the privilege of working with and watching this progressive couple build a prolific and productive breeding herd while raising a young family.

The Andersons have built their herd and ranch in a “cowboy way,” producing breeding stock for their many repeat customers. It has been a big job, but everyone has had their chores... even the dogs... their efforts have bred and built a wonderful cow herd base.

The strength of the cow herd is reflected in the solid and uniform offering of bulls both Red and Black. The Right Cross bulls are not pampered... but grown on a high roughage ration designed for soundness and longevity. Calving ease at the forefront and the bulls display extra body length, lots of hair, bone, and hip. The twos are rugged and designed to cover more cows, bigger cows, and bigger pastures. A dark, thick, clean-made Desperado son to start off the catalog. 5L reminds me of his maternal grandfather, Seneca 51G. He’s deep made and wide as a truck. The maternal side of his pedigree are all long bodied, hardworking cows.

Every bull sold has passed a semen test prior to delivery. If your bull fails to be a satisfactory breeder, we will provide you with a replacement bull or a sale credit. The Right Cross Ranch Bull Warranty Program covers your bull for injury or death.

If there is a concern regarding your bull, please notify Right Cross Ranch immediately. We ask that you contact a licensed veterinarian to diagnose and assist you with treating your bull. We will be in contact with your vet and if the animal dies a postmortem will be required (at your cost).

Terms:

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Each animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

Certificate of Registration:

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Angus Association, unless otherwise specified. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Pedigree Estimates

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

Health:

All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Guarantee:

Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

Liabilities:

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co.(2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may, in extreme cases, be taken must be between buyer and seller. T Bar C Cattle Co.(2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility of any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

Phone, Mail & Wire Bids:

Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, wire or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Insurance:

We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value. The buyer assumes all risk if insurance is declined.

Errors:

All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue.

Trucking Policy:

Please insure your bull if you are looking to have him delivered, no exceptions! Free delivery will be available for any bulls selling for more than $3,500. Bulls selling for less will be delivered at cost. If more than one lot is purchased we will still deliver for free. We will begin deliveries after the sale. We will do our best to work with you to get you your bull. We would also appreciate if you would work with us! If we are near your farm, your bull will be delivered at our convenience. Thanks for your cooperation!
