WELCOME!
Welcome to our 29th Annual Southwest Bull Developement Centre sale. A little over 28 years ago a group of progressive breeders gathered at Melita one evening and discussed the idea of starting this development centre. Some of those breeders have moved on, both with their own sales or dispersed their herds. But one thing that has not changed is that the Development Centre is still located at Oak Lake. The bulls are fed in a large area allowing lots of exercise to grow and develop. The ration of 50% Grass/alfalfa hay, 47.5% oats, 2.5% Supplement in a self-feeder, and is designed for a gain of 3lbs./day.
All the bulls have passed a semen evaluation before the sale. The carcass data has been collected and will be available on sale day.
The sale is at Batho Farms Ltd. and online at DLMS.ca. The bulls have been videoed in mid March and clips of each bull will be presented during the sale. We encourage everyone to come at anytime to view bulls at the development centre before the sale.

The dam is smaller framed but she milks hard and brings home a dandy each fall. She has raised two sons who have sold in this sale in the past and a daughter retained in herd. Recommended for larger framed heifers or cows.
This hairy fella has lots of shape and middle. He’s sure to add pounds to his calf crop. The dam is moderate in size and doesn’t seem to miss. Two daughters are retained in herd as well as raising three sons for the bull pen.

RATION: The Southwest Bulls have been fed a complete ration that has been prepared and processed at Batho Farms Ltd. It consists of the following ingredients:
• Roughage (grass/alfalfa hay) 50%
• Oats 47.5%
• Supplements 2.5%
The ingredients in the TMR ration are all added by weight and this ration is self fed to the bulls. The ration is designed for the bulls to gain 3 lbs/head/day.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
TERMS:
The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable in Canadian funds. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks before any cattle are released.
PURCHASER’S RISK:
Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
INSURANCE:
Will be available on sale day from Keystone Livestock Services, Lois McRae: 204-728-3058
BIDS:
All animals sell to the highest bidder.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Any errors or changes in information contained in the catalogue will be announced from the auction block and such announcements take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue.
BREEDER’S GUARANTEE:
Each bull becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and reproductive and genetic soundness.
LIABILITIES:
Southwest Development Centre and its members, Batho Farms Ltd, Sales staff accept no liability for accidents that may occur. Mishaps at cattle sales are rare, but all attending must do so at their own risk.
DELIVERY:
Delivery is $50.00 per bull. Maximum of $100.00 per buyer, within a radius of 200 km. Over 200 km delivery is at cost to buyer. Delivery within one week after the sale at seller’s convenience.
AFTER SALE MANAGEMENT:
Any of the Southwest bulls that remain at Batho Farms Ltd at Oak Lake will be maintained on the same ration as they have been on so they will continue to grow and develop. Cost of this is $4.00 per head per day. The bulls staying at Batho Farms on this program must be insured. Batho Farms Ltd or SWBDC are not responsible for any loss or injury.
SEMEN TEST & ULTRA SOUND:
All bulls will be semen evaluated and have passed semen evaluation. All bulls will have been Ultra Sounded. Semen and Ultra Sound Information will be on an added sheet on sale day or can be requested earlier.
