TO CEDARLEA’S

GIRLS OUT NIGHT

Welcome 2024 BIENNIALFEMALESALE

Welcome to Cedarlea Farms and our second edition of the “Girls Night Out” Female Sale. Please accept this as your personal invitation to attend in person or on-line Friday November 15, 2024. We were absolutely thrilled with the acceptance and results of our first female sale in 2022 and as planned we are pleased to offer our successive biennial event.

We’ve held nothing back and are only offering the very best! It has taken us over 50 years to be in a position where we are comfortable offering the very best females from our program. It takes time to build confidence and years of reassurance that you’re on the right track meeting the needs of the industry. The trust and support fellow breeders have shown at our annual bull sale over the past four decades demonstrates the direction we have taken has value and is appreciated; we are very thankful for that.

The Girls Night Out offering this year is an outstanding group of young females, all from the top of their age group. We have always focused on the important basic traits and characteristics that are the foundation of a sound functional Charolais breeding female. Attention to detail has always been to use genetics that offer the best teat/udder shape and size, sound conformation, disposition, proven growth performance all with a little bit of extra eye appeal! From the time tested, dependable Fargo, Authority and Legend genetics to the exciting new Fruition, Ruger and Arctic Wolf sire groups we are confident that they will flat-out work!

Please stop in any time leading up to the sale to go through the sale offering and cowherd or call us or T Bar anytime to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you at Cedarlea Farms November 15.

• From the Junction of Highway #1 and # 19, go South 24 km to Six Mile Road, go East on Six Mile Road for 9.5 km to Range Road 3070

• From Hodgeville, go 9 km North on Highway #19 to Six Mile Road, go East on Six Mile Road for 9.5 km to Range Road 3070

If you are in the livestock industry or want to get in, one of the true pleasures and educational experiences you can have is to ride the rolling, grassy pastures north east of Hodgeville, Saskatchewan, viewing a great herd of Charolais breeding stock. The second-best thing you can do, is join us on November 15th at the ranch to view, evaluate and acquire top cut seed stock from the Cedarlea program at the “Girls Night Out”.

This is your welcome and special invitation to be with us in person or online for this highlight event in the Charolais breed. Seventy-seven lots of exciting bred and open females from one of the nation’s superior cowherds will make the day exciting and a must to attend!

For over half a century, the folks at Cedarlea have been building and supplying the beef cattle industry profit-earning bulls to both breeders and ranchers alike. It takes a very large predictable cow herd base to offer this powerful lineup. To present a quality lineup from the top of the herd takes a great deal of sacrifice hence the event is biennial. Over the fifty or so years, Garner and the team have done things right which is reflected by their highly successful bull sale and the large number of repeat customers.

Traits required at Cedarlea: high maternal traits through udders, teats and milk flow; soundness of foot and limb to walk large pastures, strong fertility in the many cow families and always concerned with testicle size and shape. More importantly, the cow herd is built on performance, consistent in both weaning and yearling weights and the numbers will back that up. Cedarlea has taken the guesswork out of selection.

Charolais cattle are no secret... they lead off every presort throughout the industry. Owning a Charolais female is a blue-chip investment and in many cases with good management, the first calf could well pay the ticket for your purchase of its mother.

Feel free to stop by the ranch and have “BJ” or Garner give you a tour of this outstanding foundation source... it will be worth the stop or give them a call to discuss the unlimited opportunities available on November 15th with the “Girls!”

We at T Bar C are familiar with this exciting lineup... feel free to give any of our team a call and we will be pleased to assist you with your selections in a professional and confidential manner.

HERD HEALTH

Cedarlea Farms Advanced Herd Health program focuses on disease prevention. Our cow herd participates with Boehringer Ingelheim Canada Health’s Express Verified Plus program and receives an annual pre-calving Express Fetal Protection vaccine (5 way viral) which provides the developing calf guaranteed protection against the Bovine Viral Diarrhea virus. The bred females are also given an annual Scour Bos 9, clostridial and Haemophilus somnus vaccine at this time.

At 14 to 21 days of age calves are given Toltrazuril, Pyramid 5 + Presponse SQ and Fermicon 7/Somnugen. The calves are all boosted during the last 10 days of May prior to pasture turnout with Express FP 5/Somnugen, Presponse HM and Covexin Plus. The calves will also receive Longrange for long lasting parasite control. At weaning all calves are boosted again with Express FP 5/Somnugen, Presponse HM and Covexin Plus. The replacement heifers will be given a dose of Express FP 5 pre-breeding to guarantee the resulting progeny will be BVD Persistently Infection free. The sale bulls also carry the Boehringer Ingelheim health guarantee after they are vaccinated with Express FP 5 prior to our bull sale. The entire Cedarlea herd (cows, bred heifers, open replacement heifers and bulls) is treated with Ivomec and Clean-Up II in late fall. The entire herd is on a chelated mineral and trace mineral program. Our calves are raised on milk and grass. They are not creep fed.

You can buy with confidence knowing we have done everything possible to prevent disease and ensure the prudent use of antibiotics.

An update on vaccinations and parasite control will be given at sale time
