We would like to welcome everyone to our annual bred female sale at 1:00 PM on December 10 on the farm just 3 miles south of Peebles SK.
This year we will have on offer 507 bred heifers. This is a loaded offering with what we believe to be the very best set we have ever raised and put together. A sire group consisting of 46 heifers all sired by the industry changing Deer Valley Growth Fund is one of the highlights that you won’t want to miss. 461 bred females sired by HF Alcatraz, D and N Rainfall, SAV Rainfall, SAV Magnitude, JL Prefer, JL Preseason along with the D&N herd bulls that should not be taken lightly in quality and performance.
In addition to this year’s offering there will be Sim/Angus bred’s as well as Hereford/Angus bred’s on offer. The Sim/Angus females come out of D&N cows that Jay Charison purchased a few years back off of our annual bred heifer sale. These females on offer go back to Wheatland bull 1108J and Maple Lake Swagger 0399. These females are special and will go onto put in a long career where ever they end up. The Hereford/Angus cross females go back to Square-D Tortuga 953T.
When selecting the service sire’s, we put a lot of emphasis on the dam and bull behind the sire. He needs to come from a proven cow family as well as from a bull that has proven progeny on the ground that are working. We strive to ensure there is no guess work when it comes to the mating’s of these females, and how they will perform no matter which environment they find themselves in. All of the females were serviced to Musgrave 316 Colossal 137, Millar Duke 816, D and N Rainfall and SAV Magnitude.
The main cow herd of 1500 cows graze year-round. We run a registered herd of roughly 200 head along with our commercial herd comprising of 1300 mother cows. They begin calving April 20th, at which time they graze stock piled grass and bale graze. Moving into the tame pasture around June 1, where they will rotationally graze until they come home for a 21-day AI period in July. Once the calves are weaned at the end of September, the cows will go out to stubble graze until the end of December weather permitting. They will then move into corn grazing until Calving in the spring.
We will buy back heifer calves out of the females that are purchased off of the sale, and will continue to buy them back in the years to come if Angus bulls are used. We also will buy back the bull calves out of the AI Sired females that are serviced to our AI sires. We will pay a $250 premium for the bull calves on top of market value. The groups that qualify for this program are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32.
All the Females are on a full herd health program. If you attend the sale, you will receive a $1000 discount on your first 10 head. $100 off per animal up to 10 animals. Lunch is served at noon, and we look forward to seeing you all sale day!

Take D and N Rainfall for example, who is living proof that the D&N program works. 23H, sired by the now deceased calving ease bull S A V Rainfall, demanded an impressive $27,000 at the 2022 D&N Bull Sale. He produces daughters that calve easily, with low birthweights and explosive weaning weights.
And take a close look at Deer Valley Growth Fund, who has both daughters and services on offer. Combined with the services they carry to bulls like Rainfall, Magnitude, Musgrave Colossal, and Millars Duke, his daughters will surely turn heads. Growth Fund himself is one of, if not the most popular Angus bull in America, leading the AAA’s registrations for all of 2023. Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.
PREGNANCY INFORMATION:
All serviceable age females have been pregnancy examined by an accredited veterinarian, giving an estimated length of gestation. This estimated gestation period shall be used only as a guideline to calving and is not a guarantee of actual service.
DELIVERY:
D&N Livestock will deliver if 40 or more head are purchased. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
