GOVERNOR’S UPDATE
FROM RACHEL ISELIN
! Happy New Year, Texas-Oklahoma! It incredible to think that it's already
2016 and there are only 3 months left in my term. This year has been a wild ride, but getting to meet all of you at Fall Rally, Key Leader, and hopefully DCON 2016 has made every single worth it. There are 5 main goals that I set at the beginning of the year and I'd like to update you on my progress:
1. Holding the board to the highest standard. All of the Lt. Governors are aware of what is expected of them and I keep track of their performance through monthly reporting and individual communication. Throughout the year, there have been various situations where Lt. Governors have fallen behind or have failed in their duties. These issues have all been carefully dealt with and resulted either in resignation, loss of privileges, or improvement during future months. Conversely, we've had many outstanding individuals who have gone above the call of duty to do what they can for the divisions. There are so many excellent board members this year and I'm proud to work with them.
!
2. Grow T-O Our current membership is over 15,000, which is absolutely incredible. It's 3.5k short of our goal, but there are still 3 months left to go. Every Wednesday for the next months, District Treasurer Emily and I are going to be checking the club standing updates like Hawks. We want to reach this goal of 18,500 before DCON so that we can celebrate growing our family.
!
3. Strengthening communication Our Executive Officers create bi-monthly newsletters, post updates on the website, and include information in the Tex-O-Key for all the clubs. We have been utilizing the website more and more in order to centralize all our information and make it easier to find what you need. I personally have been sending weekly update to LTGs with information related to our Preferred Charities, Vision Partners, and events within T-O. Lt. Governors have reported good communication with each of you, but if you feel that you are not receiving enough contact please let me know so that we can do more for you. I also have been able to physically visit 1/4 of our district. Within this next month, I'm hoping to make four more visits and get to meet even more of you!
!
4. Encourage Interclub Events I've receiver word of amazing K-Family interactions, especially in the Lawton and Duncan area of Oklahoma. Hearing these stories makes my day. I'm a very strong advocate for K-Family interactions and that's why I made it my Governor's Project this year. This past weekend, both Currently Kiwanis Governor Erby Eikner and Past Kiwanis Governor Colleen attended our board meeting and spent some time sitting in with our Lt. Governors. Interactions like that are what make us stronger in service and I'm hoping each of you have been working to work with your local clubs.
!
5. Focus on Service We've made it a point through graphics and through our projects to turn the focus onto service and physically going out to make a difference. One of the ways we are incorporating more service is through the service activities at DCON. The district board spent hours cutting up strips of material for our service project at DCON and I know that you will all enjoy it greatly!
!
Being District Governor has been the highlight of my life and I'm looking forward to finishing out strong. Please be aware that if you are interested in running for a higher position in Key Club, I am also available to discuss the positions and the process of being elected. My contact information is very easy to find, so reach out to me anytime.

By the way, it's never to late to start planning your entry for the Tom Duncan Outstanding Secretary Award to be presented at DCON! This award does require quite a bit of prepwork including evaluations from your fellow officers, so be sure to check out Code of Contests and Awards for all rules and regulations. I highly encourage you all to enter this prestigious contest as it's a great physical representation of the work you've done throughout the year. The Top 25 Clubs of the 3rd quarter will be posted on the District website soon, so keep a look out for that. However, please remember that your club MUST be paid in order to attend much less be recognized at DCON, so please pay your membership dues as soon as possible if you haven't done so already. If you're looking to improve your ranking on the Top 25 Clubs list, don't forget that you can send in late reports at any point in time. This includes reports dating back from April of last year! Also remember that in addition to being physically mailed to me, reports should also be emailed to your Lt. Governors, regional advisor, and sponsoring Kiwanis club as stated on the Main Page of the monthly report. As always, let me know if you have any questions! I'm only an email away. Enjoy this much deserved three-day weekend!

TREASURER’S UPDATE FROM EMILY ZHAO
Good day TO Key Clubbers! I hope y’all have started off the New Year with a BANG.
Dues: Dues are LATE. Please urge your clubs to get their dues in ASAP. It is imperative that cubs submit their dues in order to receive their Key Club benefits and NOT be suspended by February 1! If your club is having trouble with the dues process, please don’t hesitate to contact me! I know there has been some confusion, so I will try my best to help you.
!
MUC: Concerning the MUC, if you have direct MUC website related issues, please contact memberservices@kiwanis.org or 1-800-KIWANIS x411. Since KCI runs the MUC website, we do not have direct control over it at the district level!
!
As always, please let me know if you ever have any question, comments, or concerns! I would love to help you out in any way that I can. Best of luck in school!
