GOVERNOR’S UPDATE
FROM RACHEL ISELIN
Hello district board! We are now half way through January meaning there are only 2.5 months left in the term before DCON. I have 2 main requests:
!
Your DECs must be held by the first weekend in February. This is very important so that we can make sure each LTG is prepared to attend training. Please work with your regionals and get these in order.
!
If you are planning on running for a position next year and would like to talk through the positions and process, feel free to contact any of the staff. Megan, Matthew, Emily, and I have all been LTGs and been through the process of deciding what to do with your future in Key Club.
#TODCON2016 A post about our District Convention has been published on the website as have several fundraising ideas. Please make sure to be check each week for the updates about DCON on the district website. Please be active in promotion by talking to your clubs about DCON and by telling them about our DCON remind and various social media accounts.
!GET DIRTY EARTH DAY
One of Key Club's Vision Partners is Nickelodeon because they're all about inspiring kids to take action and get involved. One of Nick's Big Help initiatives is called "Get Dirty", because it's all about Earth Day and helping the environment. Sound familiar? Unfortunately, Earth Day this year is April 22nd while we are at DCON. SO, encourage your clubs to plan something early and earthy in advance. Check out the Nickelodeon website for more information on the organizations they work with.
!IHOP NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY
Children's Miracle Network is constantly working to supporting local kids in your local hospitals. One of those most well known fundraisers is the National Pancake Day coming up March 8th. Help support local children and their health by visiting an IHOP on March 8th and donating to CMN.
!MARCH FOR BABIES
One of our Preferred Charities, March of Dimes, sometimes doesn't get talked about enough. Encourage your clubs to get involved this year and maybe do something yourself with the division! Find out about marching events near you: https://www.marchforbabies.org/Registration/Events

SECRETARY UPDATE FROM LILY NGUYEN Hey D-Board!
!
I had a terrific time meeting and getting to know you all at Winter Board! Though the meetings themselves were long, I trust that surrounding yourself with other people with the same goals as your own has fostered a renewed sense of passion for Key Club. I’m counting down the days when we meet again at DCON, and I hope you all are as well!
ASK YOUR CLUBS TO SIGN UP FOR THE…
CLUB SECRETARY REMIND101 TEXT “@tosecr” to 81010
Though DCON may seem far away, it's never too early to tell your club secretaries to consider entering the Tom Duncan Outstanding Secretary Award. This contest is designed to recognize the most proficient secretary of the Texas-Oklahoma district. All rules for this contest can be found in the Code of Contests and Awards. As this contest does have several requirements, it's best to start planning early. If there are any questions concerning this award, please direct them to me and I’d be more than happy to help! You got a sneak peek of the Top 25 Clubs of the 3rd quarter at Winter Board, but the official list will be posted on the District website soon, so keep an eye out for that. There’s still one final quarter left, and it’s anybody’s game! Also a reminder that all clubs in the Top 25 must be paid in order to be recognized at DCON. However, as Ian Sims would say, #Service > #Ranking. Continue to encourage reporting and increasing your division reporting percentage by sharing secretary resources including the Task of the Month with your clubs. Don't forget to emphasize that reports must be physically mailed to me at my home address found under Secretary Resources on the District website, not to Walt or Rachel's address. Once you host your DEC, please remember to send me the contact information from the candidacy forms of your newly elected Lt. Governor, even if that’s just yourself! I need this information to start compiling the new District roster for the 2016-2017 year, so if you could follow through, that would be fantastic. As we enter our last quarter of the Key Club year, keep your head up and try to make the best of these last few months regardless of how your term has been so far. You can do it. We’re all rooting for you!

TREASURER’S UPDATE FROM EMILY ZHAO
Hey Fam! We had an incredibly engaging and exciting Winter Board to start of the New Year. It was nice to spend time with y’all! The next time many of us will meet will be during DCON, so best of luck in school until then!

!! ! ! ! ! !
Dues: Dues are LATE. Please urge your clubs to get their dues in ASAP. It is imperative that cubs submit their dues in order to receive their Key Club benefits and NOT be suspended by February 1! If your club is having trouble with the dues process, please don’t hesitate to contact me! I know there has been some confusion, so I will try my best to help you.
!
MUC: Concerning the MUC, if you have direct MUC website related issues, please contactmemberservices@kiwanis.org or 1-800-KIWANIS x411. Since KCI runs the MUC website, we do not have direct control over it at the district level!
!
As always, please let me know if you ever have any question, comments, or concerns! I would love to help you out in any way that I can. Best of luck in school!

Hey T-O Board!
!
I hope you guys are enjoying your three day weekend! This past weekend, we all met up in Dallas, TX at our annual Winter Board meeting! I am so glad to say that it looks like we’ve gotten a lot accomplished! If you remember my editor’s update at Winbo, you will remember me saying that if you have ever missed an article submission you will have to do a alternate assignment to make up for it. I am about to start sending out emails to everyone who has at some pointed not turned in an article. If you are one of these individuals, you will be expected to send in 3 project submissions for the project booklet to make up for it. With that aside, I hope you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend and get ready for DCON! It is a lot closer than you think! See you then!
