Who are you? We are ‘Practitioners’. We create quarterly anthologies, culminating in an annual publication compiled of various upcoming artists working in the Northern Region of England (with the scope to expand if necessary). “The Anon-thology” Our goal is to create a collective of practitioners all working closer together to create a creative network based in the north of England. We eventually aim to launch this with anthologies that will be sellable products that can be distributed within the creative industry. Each annual publication will be accompanied by a launch event where the collaborators are invited to attend to promote themselves and their creative practice.
Our Business Our goal is to produces a self sustaining zine/anthology run. The money made from the limited quarterly zine runs will help finance the annual high quality annual. In the first year we will culminate all of the efforts with a launch event similar to that of Leeds Zine Fair. Whilst the first year will be predominantly about making ourselves known and acquiring interest/artists to participate, the second year will be about expanding on these areas. The first year will take a lot of work as we’d have to find a suitable location at an affordable cost as well as making sure we are financially sustainable. The second year will about deciding whether our following has grown enough to warrant a larger event location. There may also be the option to invite a guest editor into the second year to help decide on themes, entries and planning etc. This would be a reoccurring thing from that point forward. Within five years, we would aim to be the biggest artist/illustrative anthology book in the north of England acting as a gateway publication for up and coming illustrators to get their work produced. Potentially there is the option to open our own store, selling the works of participants, guest editors and other work deemed applicable.
Structure The structure of the business would be a very basic design at first. This would largely be due to the fact that less people employed would mean less outgoing expenditure. A maximum of 5 people in the first year all acting as overall editors of the piece, with the option to hire a guest editor in the second year to relieve the stress from the five existing employees proving financial viable.
