PRODUCT DESIGN SCENOGRAPHY

I am Tamas Boldizsar, a Budapest based scenographer and product designer with a wide range of interests in different design areas from concepts to technical design.

I have almost ten years of experience in international brand-related design projects like stages, stand designs, tv studios and exhibition designs. My engineering background allows me to create solutions that are feasible, but at the same time I like to play freely with forms and lights and the feelings they evoke.

Due to many brand-related design experiences, I always strive for a consistent, recognizable concept and a strong visual language.

For me the most important part of the design is creating a consistent concept and a balanced composition regardless of the platform. In my work I have a rational, technical approach with a playful and emotional twist.

This counter is not an ordinary furniture: it is used at events of different sizes and styles, hence the need for a system that is easy to dismantle and transport. The modular elements of the counter can be assembled into multiple sizes.

Removable covers and different worktop modules of the counter are mounted to an aluminum frame. The worktop modules give space to different functions: the various coffee arms, the steam wand, the grinder and other tools necessary to make specialty coffee.

There are more than 250,000 people with profound hearing loss in Hungary, who often face barriers to accessing a cultural programme in addition to the challenges of everyday life. Vodafone's new campaign aims to make the experience of theatre accessible to hearing-impaired audiences.

The viewer places their phone in an adjustable holder on the seats, sets it at eye level, connects to Vodafone's dedicated theatre wifi network and the real-time, performance-timed subtitling begins.

A system which could assist regular users to create their own furniture by an easy to use software.

The modular elements are made of plywood and the custom corners are 3D printed. These printers are using thermoplastics so you can remelt and reprint this material which means you can redesign your furnitures without new materials.

2in1 chair for children. I have designed a chair for kindergarten with two different sitting height which could be turn manually by children in a playful way thanks to the soft corner elements.

SCENOGRAPHY

The stand is a reference to the education of the future and gamification. The concept was inspired by wooden building blocks and the famous hungarian invention: Rubik’s cube. The aim was to create something colourful that stands out and presents a welcoming and cheerful image of Hungary and the imagined ideal future of education.

The concept of the studio backdrop was inspired by the key visual of Emirates Loto brand. The idea was to create a huge, dynamic-shaped screen made of pipes with circular ends and the main attraction would be the animated appearance of numbers during the draw.

This house was inspired by scenes of Blade Runner 2049. The concept and visualization was completed within 24 hours from scratch, based on an unfinished, roughly hand-drawn floor plan. I decided to create an easily recognizable visual character in mood and lighting because I had no time to work on details due to the short deadline. At the same time, my goal was to create a strong atmosphere and spaces I would love to live in as well.
