PORTRAIT | FASHION | BEAUTY studio & natural light To catch ones persons beauty in a picture is a pleasant kind of art. The following process of perfection through programs like Photoshop is being seen ambivalently and sometimes considered to distort the original photography and art. We are living in a society, in which a questionable beauty ideal dominates. For sure it is not healthy or even possible for all kinds of persons and bodys to look like this, but it is still our eyes who tell us, what we consider as beautiful and what we don‘t. A healthy mediocrity in retouching and the retaining of
the atmosphere and naturality, is one of the secrets of a good picture. Another big secret in model-, fashion- and beauty photography is teamwork. The atmosphere in the team, the different persons with their individual personalities - even if they do not stand in front of the camera - , are visible in the picture. Teamwork is able to put something personal and individual in the image.

Reality is full of imperfections, which our concept of beauty often revels in. This exhibition draws the viewers gaze away from standardised ideals of beauty towards a more personal discovery. Playing with beauty and its relation to symmetry, working with the geometry of a persons face, through moving cuts, parts of the original photo, to a different, unnatural place, the predeďŹ ned image of stereotypical beauty is being broken up. Reducing, and you could also say destroying, the picture is what takes it to allow for the freedom of the creation of a new ideal.
Every artist seeks to free their mind in order to allow creativity, and so every person can grow and gain from being openminded. In this voyeuristic age of information, the ability to think further is the key to success. This exhibition seeks to encourage the viewer to free their mind as with the right perspective, the founding aim of beauty and aesthetics, the will to inspire delight in people, can be achieved.
