Beginning his fifth year as head coach at Mount Tahoma JIM McDONALD hopes it will be the year of the Thunderbird. The past four years have been average years filled with many pitfalls. Coach McDonald graduated from U.P.S. and completed his master degree work at Oregon State University. He has been involved with coaching at Mount Tahoma for 12 years, four years as sophomore coach, 3 as reserve coach and 4 as head coach. Coach McDonald teaches Psychology and History in the regular school curriculum. He is married and he and his wife and two sons live in University Place.
MAX DuBOIS became head basketball coach at Stadium in 1964, after coaching the sophomore and jayvee teams over a period of fourteen seasons. In eight seasons as head coach, his teams have achieved seventy-five victories, tying for the city championship with Wilson in 1970. Stadium lost the playoff game by one point in the final 3 seconds of the game. Two outstanding players of the powerful UPS basketball team, Sam May and Fred Cain, played for coach DuBois. Coach DuBois graduated from Stadium in 1941, lettering for two years in baseball. He graduated from UPS in 1949, lettering in track one year. He is married and has three children, one daughter currently serving in the Peace Corps.
DAN INVEEN is starting his twelfth year as Wilson's head basketball coach having taken over from Marvin Scott in 1961. Wilson's teams under Mr. lnveen have represented Tacoma in the State Meet two times and are c r e d i t e d w i t h f o u r H oop-Go-Round Championships, two City Championships, three second place finishes and six third place spots. The Rams have never fallen below the third slot in the City League standings. His coaching career began with a three year stint at Baker Junior High, then three years as junior varsity mentor at Wilson and now enters his twelfth year as Wilson's head coach. Wilson's record under Coach lnveen is 139-85. Coach lnveen teaches English and PE besides his basketball duties at Wilson. He resides in the Gig Harbor area with his wife and three children.

IN THE PAST continued.... Led by Wendell Jones, Stadium raced into a 17-11 lead in the first quarter, but then the Tigers ran into serious trouble when Jones, ace rebounder Bruce Sanderson and speedy guard Art Frazier, all rode the bench with 3 fouls apiece.
With the absence of these three, Billy Parker and Gary Birchler led the Rams to a 26-25 halftime lead, and kept Wilson in front for the rest of the game.
Dunlap led the Rams with 13 points and Birchler added 12, but Stadium's Bob Sloan took game honors with 15 and Wendell tallied 14 more.
