WESTERN WASHINGTON STATE vs. UNIVERSITY OF PUGET SOUND KEY-INFORMATION-Tonight the Vikings of Western Washington do battle with the Univer sity of Puget Sound Loggers in a non-conference football clash. Coach Boyde Long's Vikings are 2-2 on the year, losing a tough game to Simon Fraser last weeki 7-0, though out-distancing the Clansmen in total yards 438 to 222. Overall Western leads the Evergreen Con ference in both total offense and defense, gain ing an average of 351 yards per game while giving up only 243 per contest. On pass defense the Vikings are ranked 18th in the NAIA with the opposition managing only 85 yards a game through the air. The Big Blue secondary has given up only one touchdown pass. Quarterback Glenn Hadland set three school records last week. Not only did he pass for a game record 251 yards, but in so doing set ca reer passing and total offense records held for merly by quarterback Pat Brewin (1965-67). Hadland's totals to date are 2251 yards passing and 2488 total offense.
Sophomore end Steve Jasmer set yet another school game record, catching passes good for 143 yards. Another top performer on offense has been fullback Tom Wigg. Last week the Issaquah sophomore rushed for l 00 net yards while catching passes for another 73. The offensive line, which has been consis tantly opening large holes is composed of cen ter John Martin, guards Marv Nelson and Jeff Baglio, and tackles Mike Knutsen and Ken Knuckey. Defensively the Vikings have a light but ex tremely tough front line made up of ends Mike Tasker and Rich Nominni and tackles Jeff Mich aelson and Ray Kelley.
