USFQ Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ (informally USFQ) is a liberal-arts, non-profit, private university located in Quito, Ecuador. As an academic institution, it fosters an inclusive community that incorporates all sectors of society, embraces gender equality, and provides equal opportunities to all those who become part of it. Its mission is to form leaders, who are free and independent thinkers, that have a creative drive for innovation and entrepreneurship. USFQ was the first private self-financed university in Ecuador and the first liberal-arts institution in the Andean region. Academically, USFQ ranks as one of the three-top universities (category A) in the ranking of Ecuadorian universities (being the only totally private university to qualify for the highest category), issued by the Ecuadorian Council of Evaluation and Accreditation of High Education. In 2009, it was ranked first in Ecuador in relation to the number of peer-reviewed scientific publications. POSGRADOS: September 2017
What does USFQ offer me? At USFQ you will find opportunities that only a Liberal Arts university offers you: · Choose among 15 professional and research-based master´s degrees. · Most professors are bilingual and over half hold PhDs (the most in all of Ecuador!). · Distinguished academic and professional faculty. · Collaborate in relevant research projects guided by top researchers. · A comfortable and welcoming campus. · First-rate student services. · An international education. · A successful academic record, we are among the top publishing universities in the country. · An institution with 160 international academic partners. · Opportunities to travel to USFQ research stations, including Tiputini (Amazon rainforest). · Only university with a campus in the Galapagos Islands.
Liberal Arts and the Graduate School Liberal Arts is the humanist educational philosophy (that emphasizes the value of the individual over society), that fosters the education of free individuals, who are creative, innovators, and entrepreneurs; similar to the US university philosophy. We educate specialized generalists with courses that are more intense than the Latinamerican norm. For every course, we safeguard a contract between student and professors that speciďŹ es what subject matters will be covered, and how the evaluation will be carried out. USFQ provides several student services. We have a unique compromise with our students to guarantee them a fulďŹ lling education, and help them design the map of their lives, by knowing thyself.
The Graduate School at USFQ is a community of academics, researchers, and professional individuals that strive to offer our students high quality education, as well as to support their professional initiatives that will impact positively their future. Our graduate students are outstanding individuals who seek in their professional development the creation of knowledge, the achievement of innovation through research (applied and fundamental), and the implementation of best practices in a broad range of disciplines. We are a category A university thanks to our students and faculty; our graduate programs lay the foundation to sustain these credentials across time.
