Spend the day exploring all the wonders of the city, like Sacsayhuamán—the Incan ceremonial fortress dedicated to “Inti” (the Sun)—and the San Pedro market, home to colorful stands of fruits, vegetables, spices, and local products.

PERUVIAN RIVERS & RAINFOREST DISCOVERY

Stargazing on Enchanted Lake. Deep in the Amazon, guests will experience some of the darkest, clearest skies in the world—a black sky illuminated by thousands of stars. As travelers float on Enchanted Lake, guides will point out constellations and planets. San Jose de Sarapanga Forest. Spend the afternoon surrounded by the dense San Jose de Sarapanga Forest. As trekkers get close to the basin of the river, giant water lilies will appear. The lily leaves can grow up to 18 inches and hold nearly 300 pounds. Kayak Yanayacu-Pucate River. Kayak, canoe, and swim the famous black waters of the Yanayacu-Pucate River, located in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, the second largest protected area in Peru. If you’re lucky, you may see the legendary pink dolphin, native to the Amazon River.
