Welcome!
Welcome to summer at Tahoe Donner! We have been busy making plans for a fun and exciting season. As usual in our wonderful mountain community, recreational options abound. Whether you enjoy being on or in the water, or prefer to keep your feet on the ground, you and your family will have many choices this summer. This golf season will be off the charts after such a mild winter, so you won’t want to miss a minute of it. From our popular aquatics programs at both Trout Creek Recreation Pool or Northwoods Pool to our many lessons and events at the Beach Club Marina, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to cool down this summer, either in the pool, at the lake or at our signature wacky Waterpalooza events. Kids daycamps provide an awesome summer adventure, not only for little ones, but older kids up to age 14. Don’t miss your chance to check out Tahoe Donner’s extensive and scenic trail system either on a high-tech full suspension Giant mountain bike from Bikeworks or on your own two feet as you explore our hiking trails. And, as usual, Tahoe Donner Tennis Center will be buzzing with activity, offering clinics, prestigious tournaments and classic annual summer events. So grab your calendar and map out your summer of fun. If you have any questions or need assistance of any kind, just call, chat, or stop by the Member Services office at the Northwoods Clubhouse. And above all, enjoy! Member Services Office Hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., daily, 530-587-9400 or info@tahoedonner.com Online chat is available during office hours at tahoedonner.com.

We have a full array of options for families, including bikes for kids, trail-a-bikes and trailers for little ones. We sell and replace more than a third of our fleet each season, and this season’s new bikes are highlighted by Giant’s brand new Trance X 27.5-inch full suspension mountain bikes and Talon 27.5-inch front suspension mountain bikes. Our experienced bike mechanics are also on hand and willing to help get your own personal bike tuned up and ready for your next ride.
Strava Competition For this summer, we have created new Strava segments on trails commonly ridden from TD Bikeworks. Strava is an independent website which allows users to compare their times on certain segments of roads or trails to others who have ridden that particular segment. We will have a season-long competition to see who can ride each segment the fastest. Remember to stay in control, share the trail, and ride responsibly. You can use any iPhone, Android or Garmin device. Call or stop by for more information.

SUMMER TRAIL SYSTEM T
Explore, Refresh and be Inspired
he Tahoe Donner summer trail system is an expansive 40-mile system comprised of singletrack and multi-use fire roads which take you through high alpine meadows and aspen groves and over craggy ridge tops affording breathtaking vistas of Castle Peak, Donner Lake and the Sierra Crest ridgeline. Whether you are an experienced equestrian, a new mountain biker or an avid trail runner, the Tahoe Donner summer trail system has a piece of trail just for you. Join us this summer to explore your backyard, refresh in the serenity of the mountains and be inspired by nature in Tahoe Donner. Contact us at 530-582-9672 or email us with any questions at trails@tahoedonner.com.
Trail Etiquette & Safety Hiking, biking or horseback riding on Tahoe Donner’s trails is a wonderful way to enjoy the great outdoors. With the increasing popularity of these outdoor activities, the number of encounters with other trail enthusiasts is also increasing, so we all need to do our best to be respectful, patient and courteous to others. By following the guidelines below, we can all have a more safe and enjoyable outdoor experience.
Advice for All Trail Users RESPECT: It's a simple concept: if you offer respect, you are more likely to receive it. We’re all out there to have a good time. Friendly respect will diminish negative encounters on the trail for all users. COMMUNICATION: Let folks know you’re there — before you’re there. Do your best to let your fellow trail users know you’re coming. A friendly greeting is a good method. YIELD APPROPRIATELY: Anticipate other trail users as you ride around corners. Bicyclists should yield to hikers and equestrians. Step downhill and off trail to let them pass. Bicyclists traveling downhill should yield to ones headed uphill. In general, strive to make each pass a safe and courteous one. BE INFORMED: It’s YOUR responsibility to be in the know. Questions about where to ride, trail conditions, outdoor ethics and association regulations are important to know before you head out on the trails. If you have further questions, please contact the trails manager

Advice for Hikers & Bikers When hikers or mountain bikers encounter horses on the trail, they should step off the trail on the downhill side, and talk to the rider and the animal (this lets the horse know you are a person). Keep talking in a calm voice as the animal passes. If you approach a horse from behind it’s critical that you announce yourself loudly but calmly so you do not scare the animal. Let the rider know you’d like to pass at the next safe location. Do NOT ride up quickly on stock. It’s dangerous for you and the rider.
Hikers - yield to equestrians, allow equestrians and bicyclists to pass. Don't cut switchbacks. BICYCLISTS - RIDE ON OPEN TRAILS ONLY. LEAVE NO TRACE. CONTROL YOUR BICYCLE. ALWAYS YIELD TRAIL, NEVER SCARE ANIMALS. PLAN AHEAD. EQUESTRIANS - CONTROL YOUR HORSE. AVOID CROSS-COUNTRY RIDING. ALL USERS
Advice for Horse Riders Though most hikers and bikers will yield the right of way to horses, remember that some folks do not have experience with stock and may not react as expected. These encounters are great opportunities to inform and educate other users with a friendly approach. As a horse rider, you have a responsibility to manage your animal on the trail; it is not advised to bring horses unaccustomed to high-traffic or multi-use trails until they are more familiar with them. Also, remember to keep an eye out for other users in front of you, behind you and joining you at trail junctions.
Help Protect Our Trails AND Open Spaces Don’t Play in the Mud: When trails are muddy or otherwise saturated with water,

please refrain from using them until they have had a chance to dry out. This will allow the trail tread to remain narrow and stable and will also reduce erosion. Do Not Cut Switchbacks or Take Shortcuts: Enjoy where our trails take you; you won’t be disappointed. Cutting switchbacks and creating shortcuts damages plants and disturbs soil, and contributes to erosion. Pick Up After Your Pet: Dog waste along our trails is not only unsightly but can also hurt water quality and spread disease. Please grab a few of the dog litter bags found at

2014 Clinic and Fitness Program This summer will be an exciting one as we look to upgrade our existing programs to include fitness classes, extended instructional clinics and also continue our ever popular Cardio Tennis and Ladies Drill and Play. Be on the lookout for some of these exciting options. All pricing and schedules for the 2014 clinic and fitness programs will be posted at least two weeks prior to the start of each month and will include a month view calendar that will be posted online at www.tahoedonner.com/ tennis/ or available in printed form at the Tennis Center.
Tennis Fitness Classes Yoga for Tennis, TRX and Zumba are some of the classes on the list for the summer of 2014. These outdoor classes will get you ready for lots of extra tennis as we look to bring fitness fun outside here at the Tennis Center. This program will start in June and run through August.
Cardio, TRX Cardio, Themed Instruction, Mini-Camps, and Evening Clinics The 2014 tennis program will have all of your favorites on the schedule in addition to a number of new classes. Cardio Tennis will return as the mainstay of our cardio program but watch for the new TRX Cardio Tennis class that offers a fitness component to go along with the Cardio Tennis action. Themed clinics will also return with minicamp options as we look to extend our popular themed classes to 1.5 or 2 hours. Evening tennis programs will make a much-requested return to the 2014 summer schedule as well. These evening classes will include cardio, themed and mini-camps as well. This program will run from May through October.
