oint yourself in any direction of the compass and you’re bound to encounter adventure. The towering
mountains to our west hold hiking, biking and equestrian trails that lead to streams to fish or float, and flower-filled meadows and aspen groves that turn into golden chains each fall. Just beyond that mountain range is Lake Tahoe, ringed by sunny beaches each summer and ski resorts when the white stuff falls. Eastward is a stretch of the Pinenut Mountains, that’s open to the public, a stunning void that’s home to eagles, coyotes, deer and bands of wild horses. Look south, north and any other direction and you’ll find a golf course. Lastly, crane your neck, gaze upward and you just might see a glider silently stitching skies that make this one of the world’s most preeminent soaring destinations.

B China Springs Trail About 17 miles of U.S. Forest Service roads and rocky jeep trails can be found at this OHV area. These are just rocky roads, not motorcycle trails. You will not find any single track, but the scenery makes this a good choice for a slow ATV loop, or ATV camping trip.
C Fay-Luther/Jobs Peak Ranch Trail System The Fay-Luther/Jobs Peak Ranch Trail System offers a family-friendly, 8.8mile network of linear and loop trails, including an interpretive loop with signage highlighting the history, geography, geology, flora and fauna of the Carson Valley region.

F Genoa Vista Trail This paved 1.3 mile trail connects 1862 David Walley’s Resort Hot Springs & Spa to the town of Genoa.
K Pinyon Trail
G Jobs Peak Ranch Trail
The trail wraps around a large hill with continuous views of the Pine Nut and Carson Range. The trail junction offers a round-trip distance of about 5.2 miles.
The trailhead is located on Foothill Road, approximately 4 miles south of SR-207 (Kingsbury Grade), and follows an easement through a private development. The trail is intended for hiking (pedestrian use only). Dogs okay on leash. Distance: 1.5 miles, family friendly, light to moderate, low elevation.
H Johnson Lane OHV Access Miles of sandy, novice-friendly ATV trails as well as several steep hill climbs and play areas. The main staging area is large and flat, with plenty of room for large toy-haulers or RVs. There are no services, primitive camping is permitted, and suitable sites are scattered throughout the area.
I Mount Siegel OHV Trail This area is mainly rolling hills, sand washes, and a variety of ATV trails with mountain views. There is an OHV info box at the main entrance of the staging area. The main staging area is fairly large with some small jumps and plenty of room for young riders to test their skills.
J Old Sheep Road D Clear Creek Trail The Clear Creek Trail is a 10.5-mile trail starting at Jacks Valley Trailhead next to Jacks Valley Elementary School. This trail is a partnership that traverses through U.S. Forest Service land, private lands, Douglas County trail easements and a Nature Conservancy Conservation Easement.
This area offers about 15 miles of fire roads, a few side trails, and a very long sand wash. You won’t find many challenges here (unless it snows!) but if you stay on the main powerline road it will take you to the old sheep ranch, which has a shady spot by the creek and makes a nice resting point.
L River Fork Ranch nature.org There are two trails at River Fork Ranch, the 0.75 mile East Brockliss Loop, and the 2.0 mile West Fork Trail. Both trails are flat, and have relatively easy wheelchair access. The West Fork Trail parallels the West Fork Carson River, connecting Genoa Lane to Muller Lane with panoramic views. There are also interpretive signs at the ranch house about the area.
M Single Tree Access Trail This trail into the Pine Nut Mountains is marked by a large tree in the middle of the parking lot. There is a BLM map on the southern end of the lot showing available trails. This area is for non-motorized use only and is well traveled by mountain bikers.
N Switchback Mountain Switchback Mountain offers a variety of offroad trails. Please stop in Topaz Lodge for more information.
O Tahoe Rim Trail – Lake Tahoe 775-298-4485 tahoerimtrail.org The 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail loops around Lake Tahoe and can be accessed from Spooner Summit and Kingsbury Grade, with spectacular views of Carson Valley between Stagecoach and Monitor Pass. great motorcycle ride in the Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe area might be all pavement, or mostly dirt, or a combination of both. Carson Valley is fortunate to be very close to hundreds of miles of scenic, twisty, uncongested roads. If you are a street rider and new to the area, head out for some of the High Sierra passes. Carson Pass, Ebbetts Pass, and Monitor Pass are all less than an hour’s ride from Carson Valley. Sonora Pass, Tioga Pass, and Donner Pass are all within two hours. And the roads to any of those passes are beautiful in their own right.

A ride over five of these great mountain passes in a single day is completely feasible. To do it, you’ll ride hard, return tired, and won’t have a lot of time to stop and see the sights. But you will have one of the best days of your life. If you’re looking for rides on dirt and gravel roads, some of the best dirt riding you’ll find anywhere is in the Pine Nut Mountains, on the eastern edge of the valley. Wide well maintained main roads with firm dirt and loose gravel surfaces get you into and across the mountains, at any pace. More technical routes will include steep slopes, deep sand, loose rocks, short sight lines, and some water

Signature Events Topaz Lodge Fishing Derby
Music in the Parks
Aviation Roundup Air Show
Topaz Lodge Fishing Derby starts on New Year’s Day and continues through mid-April. Anglers catch tagged fish in Topaz Lake, a popular fishing spot on the California-Nevada border, for cash and prizes.
Throughout the summer, Carson Valley parks feature a slew of music events. Choose your spot, drop your blanket, and take in a concert while the sun dips behind the Sierras.
The Minden-Tahoe Airport hosts the Aviation Roundup Air Show every other fall (October 2017). The Aviation Roundup Air Show is dedicated to veterans to honor and thank the many fine men and women who have served or are serving our Country. This family fun event features multiple national and international performers, including U.S. military jet teams, Warbirds and vintage aircraft on display.
Eagles and Agriculture The Eagles and Agriculture celebration in January, is a chance to observe the raptors that visit Carson Valley during the calving season each winter, including bald eagles! Get exclusive access to ranches for viewing, hear directly from the ranchers, and share experiences with other birders and wildlife lovers.
Wings of Freedom The best way to relive the history of WWII aircraft is to take a once-in-a-lifetime flight on board the B-17, B-24 & P-51. The Collings Foundation is proud to offer our Flight Experiences on our Wings of Freedom Tour in over 110 cities annually.
Carson Valley Days The second weekend of June each year, the community celebrates Carson Valley Days. This five-day event showcases small-town U.S.A. and features a parade, carnival, concerts and a variety of unique activities that have been a tradition for over 100 years.
Genoa Candy Dance The Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Faire is on the last full weekend of September each year. Come to Genoa and enjoy over 300 craft and food vendors with live music, from rock-n-roll, country-western, swing and hop to waltzes for all ages, and of course candy!
Harvest Festival Each October, The Corley Ranch celebrates fall with its Harvest Festival, featuring a corn maze, pig races, miniature horse rides, pick-your-own-pumpkins, and other fun activities.

is proud to be one of Nevada’s only estate distilleries, controlling the entire process from grain to glass. Beginning in 2018 we’ll be open to the public for tours, tastings, and sales of some of the world’s finest craft spirits. It’ll all happen right here in Minden, one of Nevada’s oldest ranching towns. True to the old-world style, we will craft world-class single malt whisky, gin, and spirits using grains and botanicals grown and foraged on our own land. Sustainable winter rye, wheat, and barley will be traditionally processed and malted on our ranch, fermented in a historic flour mill, and locally aged to create luxury spirits that could only be made in one place on the planet: right here in Cason Valley. Our home is in the century-old Minden flour mill and creamery buildings, both of which sit on the National Register of Historic Places. Once the largest operating mill in the region, the flour mill is currently being restored to become a premier tasting room and distillery, and reenvisioned as one of Nevada’s most sustainable buildings. Once again this flour mill will process grain — only this time to create some of the finest spirits in the world. To learn more, visit bentlyheritage.com
