Muriel C. Barnett

Muriel Cerise Barnett was born to Muriel C. Bailey Creamer and Lorenzo Creamer on March 20, 1945 in Charlestown, West Virginia. Muriel was called home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2019. Muriel attended Charlestown Senior High School and after graduating in 1963, she relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey. She then started working for Metropolitan Life in New York, then went on to work for Bamberger’s in Newark, NJ. In 1981 Citadel of Hope Academy was born and Muriel shared her time and knowledge to developing the students of Citadel Academy as a devoted teacher. Muriel gave her life to the Lord and joined Deliverance Evangelistic Center under the leadership of Apostle Arturo Skinner. It was at Deliverance where she met and fell in Love with William J Barnett Jr. They were later joined in Holy Matrimony on January 29, 1966 at Deliverance Evangelistic Center. She and her husband went on to join Full Gospel in Jersey City, NJ under the leadership of her uncle, Bishop Scotland Bailey. Muriel and her husband Bill obeyed the call of the Lord and assisted their mother, Mother Geraldine Powell in opening the church, Citadel of Hope Mission first located in their home at 176 Springdale Ave in East Orange NJ. During her service to the Lord she was a singer with the Deliverance Mass Choir. During her time at Citadel of Hope Mission she loved teaching Sunday School to the Me too’s class and also lead a high-spirited devotional service where she loved to sing and shout! She then became a licensed Evangelist and Bible Teacher. After the passing of Mother Powell in 1999, she became First Lady of Citadel of Hope Mission, where she continued the work of the Lord. Muriel and Bill were the examples of TRUE LOVE. From their union came their children, five sons, Kevin J Barnett Sr. (Sharon), Derick Barnett, Anthony J Barnett Sr. (Elle), William J Barnett III (Marie), Wade M Barnett (Artheria) and one daughter Sharon C Barnett (Romonia). She was also a devoted and Loving Grandmother to Kevin Jr, Samantha, Isaiah, Patrice, Charles, Darrius, Brandon (deceased), Darrielle, Anthony Jr, Andrew, Alecia, AJ, Taj, Aaliyah, Sawyer, Celine, Adrianna, Latoya, Wade Jr, Tyler, Kayla, and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her Brothers, John Creamer (Mamie), Charles Creamer (Renee), Steven Creamer (Annette) and Sisters, Veronica, Charlene (Brian) and her very special sister in law Audrey Wolfe (Charles), a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, who she loved with all of her heart.
