Mildred Williams was born on September 25, 1948, in Henderson, NC, to the late William Henry Davis and Fannie Brown. She was raised in North Carolina, where at an early age her past times were playing jax, jumping rope, horseshoes, and riding wagons on Water Street. She grew up very close to her nieces Jean, Glenda, and Anna Rose. After meeting the love of her life Samuel Williams, they would embark upon a new chapter in life, relocating to Newark, NJ in 1965. It was not longafter, in 1970, Samuel and Mildred were united in Holy Matrimony, soon after starting a family. While in New Jersey she worked several jobs throughout the years, including; librarian for the Newark Board of Education, store clerk at Bradley’s, dental office assistant and several positions at White Castle Corporation, to share in the responsibility of providing for her family. Mildred obtained her education from Essex County College, where she received an Associates Degree in Business. She also attended Bethesda Bible College. Mildred continuously instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of loving your family enough to sacrifice and press forward through every obstacle, with the help of Jesus Christ. As a Newark resident Mildred became a faithful charter member of Full Gospel Monument of Faith. She devoted her time in ministries such as the Sunday School dept., Missionary dept., Nurse’s Board, Street Evangelism Team, Prayer Team and anywhere there was a need. As Mildred’s love for God grew, she would go out into the hedges and highways to spread the good news, passing out tracks, going to shelters and hospitals. She had a lifestyle of worship and believed in “holiness or hell”. Her favorite song was “I’m Just a Nobody” by the William Brothers. Mildred made it her mission to live the words of this song telling everybody she met about the love of Jesus. Upon meeting her you could feel the love she had for God and her family. Mildred was a prayer warrior and intercessor. She faithfully conducted prayer calls inter- ceding for her family and community. She was a strong woman who believed that “God can do anything but fail”. She believed God had the last say so in any situation, usually stamping that belief by saying “IT IS SO”. She loved listening to gospel music from some of her favorites including Shirley Caesar, the Williams Brothers and Luther Barnes, just to name a few. She loved to eat snacks, such as Twizzlers, Swedish Fish, Chico Sticks and food from her favorite restaurants Don’s Diner, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster. On October 24, 2019, at the age of 71, Mildred Williams completed her assignment and transtioned from this Earth leaving her legacy of love, family, and prayer.
