Ronald D. Love, was born on October 31, 1939, in Hackensack, NJ. He peacefully transitioned at the age of 79, in Wilmington, NC surrounded by his loving family. Ronnie was raised in Hackensack, matriculating through the Hackensack school system, before joining the United States Air Force in 1956. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Hackensack, to care for his ailing grandfather, Jasper Love. In 1966 Ronnie married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Barbara. There love was like no other. Ronnie began his commitment to public service by joining the Hackensack Fire Department. After his time at the fire department, he was selected to become a police officer with the Bergen County Police Department. His distinguished law enforcement career ultimately brought him to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant before his retirement in 1993. Ronnie and his wife retired to Wilmington, NC shortly after his retirement. While there he became active in his community, serving on the boards of numerous organizations including; The Wilmington Civilian Civil Service Commission and at his place of worship, Union Missionary Baptist Church. Ronnie was predeceased by his mother Dorothy; his grandfather Jasper; his mother and father in-law Dorothy and Cephas, as well as his brother Kenneth and sister in-law Ernestine. Ronnie Love will be lovingly remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Barbara; loving children, Jason (Cecilia) and Ronald Jr. (Carolyn). He will also be forever remembered by his four grandchildren, Porsche, Brianna, Jaden and Christian; godchildren, Pastor Holly Brewer, Paul Goode, and Andre Sumler; sister-in-law, Patricia Curtis and brother-in-law, Kenneth Curtis. He was “Uncle Ronnie” to many and will be dearly missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends and his precious dog, Moses. Ronnie was especially grateful to his niece Renee and nephew Kenny Jr. for their support and counsel throughout his illness. Ronnie “Bucks” Love was larger than life and prided himself as being a family man, a public servant and a child of God. His sense of style, ultimate optimism and infectious smile will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Lovingly Submitted, The Family
