Bruce Bateman ’77 and Vera wu ’87 — Business Club

Bruce Bateman ’77 and Vera Wu ’87 spoke at two events organized by the Upper School Business Club. Bruce shared valuable insights on the future of Artificial Intelligence. Vera discussed her professional experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries with a group of Business Club members and students from scientific research classes. Her engaging talk focused on the differences between biologics and pharmaceuticals, and job opportunities throughout the biopharma value chain.

He described how he used the design process to create solutions to problems. This is very relevant to TAS students in the Honors Design course who produce designs for potential startups; they respond to an idea and manufacture prototypes or architecture models, learning about design management and strategy as well as entrepreneurship.

michelle Bossard ’84 — international relations Class

Michelle visited Taiwan in September with her TAS friends who were members of the Science Club. She had an opportunity to meet with upper school students learning about complex world issues. She arranged a Skype call with one of her mentees living in Iraq. TAS students asked many questions about the accuracy of news reports and what he did for fun.

kevin Lee ’09 and michael wong ’00 — Film production Class

Kevin Lee ’09 and Michael Wong ’00 won first place for Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay at the 2017 48-hour Film Project in Taipei. They returned to TAS to talk to students in the Film Production class about their experience making films.

Vivian Chiang ’93 — TEDxTAS

Vivian Chiang ’93 was the first alumna to speak at TEDxTAS, an independently organized event by upper school students to allow speakers to share ideas and knowledge with the school community.
