When we launched our first ship, 1972’s TSS Mardi Gras, we knew we were shaking things up. We made cruising a lot less stuffy, a bit less fancy, the kind of fun everybody could enjoy.
We don’t have proof, but evidence suggests that the Caribbean was made for cruising. And in 2021, your clients can experience this magical destination aboard Carnival’s newest ship, Mardi Gras!
Nobody expected this ship to change the cruise world, but… here we are! And if it happened again, it wouldn’t surprise us. In 2021 we’ll be launching a brand-new ship with a familiar name. You guessed it: Mardi Gras. We aren’t just paying homage to our first ship — in cruising circles this name suggests innovation, signals the start of something big and it shouts “fun!” at the top of its lungs. We’re building this new Mardi Gras to live up to that legacy, so start daydreaming now about what’s to come!
The evidence this destination was made for cruising is in the crisp Caribbean air, soft sandy beaches, and clear blue waters. With more than 5,000 islands and cays spread across this amazing region, there’s a lot of paradise your clients can see when they cruise to the Caribbean aboard Mardi Gras. Best of all, the mild climate means it doesn’t even matter what time of year your clients visit. A Carnival Caribbean cruise will take them to some of the coolest hot-spots!

Mardi Gras will be our first ship to introduce themed zones! Each area is uniquely inspired to create a different atmosphere than the next and will allow you to create your own personalized vacation with dining, libation, entertainment, recreation, and relaxation options. On a Carnival cruise, your vacation starts in the atrium, and on Mardi Gras that’s in the Grand Central zone. On this ship, the atrium’s different. There are high ceilings that hint at fun living on the three decks above and floorto-ceiling windows bringing in ocean views. Plus, you’re not far from great dining at Bonsai Sushi and Bonsai Teppanyaki, and good entertainment at Piano Bar 88 and The Punchliner Comedy Club.
EMERIL’S BISTRO 1396™ We couldn’t build a French Quarter on Mardi Gras without an Emeril restaurant!! In 2021, Mardi Gras will sail with Emeril Lagasse’s first-ever restaurant at sea: Emeril’s Bistro 1396™. You’ll now be able to enjoy the authentic bayou flavors New Orleans is known for on your vacation! From fried oysters and duck & sausage gumbo, to po-boy sandwiches, fresh ceviche and more!
THE FRENCH QUARTER What inspired The French Quarter is no less than New Orleans itself! You’ll be pleased to hear that The French Quarter is lined with bars, eateries, and spots serving up everything from small plates to classic Hurricane cocktails straight from the bayou. La Piazza stands for flavor and it starts with Cucina del Capitano, which brings your party together for a night of Italian favorites, while Pizzeria del Capitano makes delizioso happen for you 24 hours a day atop a base of imported Italian flour and fresh mozzarella. Mardi Gras also debuts a new Mediterranean spot where you’ll sip authentic espresso drinks by day and classic Italian cocktails by night.
LIDO Aboard Mardi Gras, Lido, our poolside zone, features delicious and fun ways to spend a day. You can take in a Dive-In Movie at the pool and you’re not far from signature Carnival favorites like Guy’s Burger Joint, Seafood Shack, and BlueIguana Cantina. Lido is also home to fan-favorite Swirls, the free soft-serve spot cranking out the cool 24/7.
THE ULTIMATE PLAYGROUND Don’t let the name fool you, this zone is for ages everybody and up. The Ultimate Playground starts with BOLT™, the first rollercoaster at sea, an all-electric thrill ride that puts the power of speed in your hands. It also has the largest Carnival WaterWorks ever, plus SportSquare featuring an entire mini-golf course, full-court basketball and a ropes course. Ultimate enough for you?
STREET EATS Debuting on Mardi Gras with three ever-changing open-air stations, Street Eats is Carnival’s tribute to the food-truck phenomenon! There’s one station specializing in steamed stuff like bao buns and shumai, one that puts the “skill” in skillet with the likes of kebab and satay, and one that fries up favorites like empanadas and falafel. You may be far from the street, but flavor’s right around the corner.
Summer Landing is the greatest chill spot at sea! Know what goes great with chilling outdoors? BBQ, so we’re building a Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse | Brewhouse into this zone to make sure it always tastes like summer here. You won’t be surprised that the pool isn’t far with our original Parched Pig™ beers brewing just a few feet away!

Family Feud™ has delighted viewers at home for generations, but you’ll now be able to buzz-in on a cruise ship! Family Feud™ Live exclusively hits Mardi Gras in 2021. Hosted by the ship’s cruise director, the show will take place in Mardi Gras’ Grand Central zone. Every sailing will host four unique games where you can choose to participate or join the studio audience for a chance to compete in the “Insta-family” version of the game!
BOLT™: ULTIMATE SEA COASTER™ On Mardi Gras you’ll also meet BOLT™: the fastest and first rollercoaster at sea! Strap in and zoom your motorcycle-style speed machine around an open-air course high above sea level. You’ll get to control how fast you go, so hit the gas and try for the fastest time or choose chill mode and go light on the pedal. This just might be the coaster for you!

A Mardi Gras Ocean Suite offers more space for stretching out indoors, plus a large balcony for kicking back outdoors. In an Ocean Suite, you’ll experience private, luxurious relaxation… which even extends to the large, deluxe bathroom!
This is the kind of room that proves luxury and comfort go hand-inhand. You’ll find a bathroom with a spacious shower, double sink, and lots of room for living and lounging. Plus, you’ll enjoy a dining area and two TVs with extra space for kicking back on your balcony, featuring lounge chairs and a dining table that seats four.
A Captain’s Suite aboard Mardi Gras features tons of indoor space, plus a large wraparound balcony with lounge chairs and a dining table that seats four! Back inside this room, you’ll find a king-size bed, deluxe bathroom, and living room featuring a wet bar.
A Carnival Excel Aft Suite treats you to a wrap-around balcony, private hot tub for two, dining area for four, a daybed, and a sitting area with a rocking chair and loveseat. Wow! Inside the room, enjoy a bathroom with a large shower and double sink, plus a separate room featuring a toilet and extra sink. There’s also two TVs, a walk-in closet, lighted vanity and large sofa.
