Traffic EVS Worksheet for Class 2 – CBSE/ICSE This worksheet is for class 2 EVS, comprising the topic of Traffic. It will help students develop a better understanding of traffic, traffic rules and how they should behave while out on the road.
Students can easily understand the following after finishing this worksheet:
1. What are the safety rules? 2. What is a zebra line (or pedestrian crossing)? 3. What do the traffic lights say? 4. What are the means of transport?
1. What are the safety rules?
Safety rules are rules that help us stay safe while we are out on the road with so many vehicles around us. If we don’t follow safety rules, we might get hurt. Therefore, we should always follow safety rules. Some main safety rules are as follows –
Always walk on the footpath – The pavement on the side of the road is called a footpath. Footpaths are made for pedestrians to walk on so they don’t come in the way of vehicles. That helps people walking stay safe.
Always keep left while walking – Having a specific side for pedestrians keeps pedestrians out of vehicles’ way which also helps them stay safe.
Don’t play on the road – Playing on the road is never a good idea because when we play, we tend to ignore the things around us as we enjoy the games we play. However, when we are out on the road, we should always stay cautious. Therefore, we should not play on the road.
2. What is a zebra line (or pedestrian crossing)?

The black and white strips on the road are known as pedestrian crossing (or zebra-line). The zebra line is made for pedestrians to cross roads safely.
3. What do the traffic lights say?
A traffic light is a yellow coloured pole that reflects lights of different colours. Each of the colours on the traffic light means a different thing. Let us understand the meaning of those different colours –
The RED light tells us to stop. Whenever the traffic lights turn red, all vehicles on the road must stop behind the pedestrian crossing. The red traffic lights allow pedestrians to cross roads using the zebra line.
The YELLOW light tells us to wait and look till it gets GREEN. The yellow traffic lights signal us to get our vehicles ready to move instantly as the lights turn GREEN.
The GREEN light says us to go. As soon as the traffic lights turn green, vehicles start moving further which is when pedestrians must not cross the road for their safety.
4. What are the means of transport?
Generally, there are three means of transport, i.e. land, water and air. railways, roadways and airways.
Land – Cars, buses and trains are examples of land transportation.
Water – Ships, boats, cruises and submarines are examples of water transportation.
Air – Airplanes are an example of air transportation.
All these different types of transportation can be used to travel long-distance from one city to another, or from one state to another.
