Alpana Vij Alpana is a contemporary artist based in Singapore. Her practice employs painting, found objects, photography and video to explore themes of perception and what constitutes ‘objective reality’. She is inspired by the Buddhist concept ´¯ ¯ or emptiness that focuses on the transitory and of sunyata ephemeral nature and interconnectedness of all phenomena. She seeks to use her ritualized and meditative art making as a reflexive process to question and understand these teachings and to create immersive experiences that poetically engage the viewer in a dialogue.

Bryan Tan Bryan graduated with a Diploma and BA (Hons) in Fine Arts at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, in partnership with Goldsmiths University of London. Through his paintings and installations, his works examine hidden energy in forms and space. He seeks to examine how these forms can merge with the space as a singular work, in both a physical and emotional dimension, bringing the viewer into a continuous reflection on space and the interaction of the material and our self with it.

Jamie Tan Jamie Tan is interested in the relativity of colour as visual perception and subjective experience shaped by cultural preferences and interpretations. In his works, he explores the formal possibilities of colour as a sensation – an evershifting physical stimuli, a phantom-like force and an aspect of interaction one can have with painting. He uses colour as a vehicle to provoke self-awareness of how the directness of colour may not be as simple as it seems to be.

Joanne Pang The works of Joanne Pang explores the concepts of memory in relation to time and place. Her paintings captures the states between forgetting and remembering as she explores a dialogue between nature and force. She paints between alternating states of dryness and wetness, combining and working with the poetics and materiality of water, ink and acrylic to echo the fluidity of the mind. In this mix, spontaneous stains, soft sweeps and bold fragmented forms are spewed across the surface, conjuring moments between movements and pauses, open and close. The process also involves her working with 2 layers of painting, one stretched over another, alluding to the concept of past and present, body and shadow. Her paintings stretches across time, evoking the changing dimensions of thought and being.

JOE A dynamic duo, JOE, was birthed through poking, mocking, injecting an array of visual languages in their art processes. We asked them to describe a little bit more about their work and all they have left us with, was this: “In order to form an immaculate member of a flock of sheep one must, above all, be a sheep.’’

Keith Teo Keith’s practice involves the exploration of surface materiality in painting. His works examines process as painting. By taking an intuitive process-driven approach with painting, he has no preconceived image of the final composition. He employs deconstruction to construct forms with methods like erasure, smearing and disfiguring to obscure elements in the paintings. His current work places more engagement with the viewer to read into the process and sometimes construct the image themselves. He graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts with a diploma in Fine Arts in 2015 and has participated in several group exhibitions locally. He was one of the finalists in Clifton Art Prize 2017.

Rifqi Amirul Rosli Rifqi Amirul (b. 1994) is a multi-disciplinary artist interested in exploring ideas relating to ‘transitional spaces’ and especially, issues dealing with migration, cultural displacements and suburban/intercultural politics. He probes into the construction of personal boundaries that defines one’s purpose and sentimentality towards a place. He describes the personal connection one has to a place, which may not necessarily be a typical home, but could relate to a sense of familiarity, a tradition or a regular activity that becomes a part of one’s identity.
