At a time when more and more speaker products are being built overseas, we thought you might like to know that JL Audio is doing things differently. Over the past few years, our commitment to in-house loudspeaker production has grown dramatically. Today, all W7’s, W6v2’s, TW5’s, W3v3’s, some of our ZR products and many of our marine speakers are built right here in South Florida. All of our Enclosed Subwoofer Systems and Stealthbox® products are built in-house, as well. To accomplish this in a competitive world market, our production engineering team has created some of the world’s most advanced loudspeaker assembly facilities. State-of-the-art equipment, advanced manufacturing systems and what we believe to be the world’s best trained, most motivated loudspeaker assembly team make this all possible. While it is feasible to build good quality products overseas (and we do build some of our products in Europe and Asia), it is quite challenging to maintain a high quality standard when the product’s technology is unusual or complex. Since most of our premium loudspeakers incorporate proprietary, patented technologies and require specific assembly techniques, I believe it is important that the people who design them have close access to the people manufacturing them. I believe that you will see JL Audio’s commitment to quality in every detail of our products, but most importantly, you will hear it every time you listen to them. Designing a pure SPL speaker, with no regard to sound quality, would have presented a far lesser challenge than the one we chose to undertake with the W7 project. For our finest subwoofer drivers, extreme output and power handling would need to combine with sublime sound quality. The keys to the W7’s dominant performance capabilities lie at the very core of loudspeaker design, where electomagnetic and mechanical behavior combine in fiendishly complex ways. JL Audio’s intense research into these behaviors allowed us to optimize W7 motor and suspension systems to faithfully reproduce every bass detail with unparalleled linear dynamic capability. Eight U.S. Patents have been issued for technologies developed during this research. All W7 subwoofers are built to exacting quality standards in our Miramar, Florida factory. Each of the four models is a completely original design from surround to back-plate (even the bolts and screws used in assembly have been purpose-designed and manufactured to our specifications). A bit obsessive, perhaps... but so is the quest for the ultimate in audio reproduction; a goal that we pursue with passion, through research and without compromise.

TW5 Subwoofer Drivers Creating great sounding bass is not that difficult when the available space in the vehicle is generous and you use high quality drivers. When space is limited (like in stealthy custom installations or behind the seats of a truck or sports car), achieving excellent low frequency performance becomes far more challenging. One way to deal with this is to use small subwoofer drivers, like our 6.5-inch or 8-inch models, but if the goal is higher output bass than the small drivers can comfortably deliver, a more potent solution is needed.

This is precisely where the new TW5 subwoofers slot into the lineup, offering groundbreaking performance in the tightest space applications. The patented thin-line woofer technology compresses the architecture of the woofer to make it all happen. Central to the technology is the “concentric tube” structure that supports the voice coil and suspension attachments. This permits placing the motor of the woofer much further forward in the speaker than with conventional designs, while maintaining excellent linear excursion capability.
Equally important is the fact that the TW5 designs are optimized for extremely small box volume applications. Whereas a typical “small-box” 12-inch driver operates in well over one cubic foot, the 12TW5 needs only 0.63 cubic feet to achieve optimum in-car performance! Outstanding power handling also gives the TW5’s a significant edge over smaller drivers.

W1v2 Subwoofer Drivers The W1v2’s create world-class JL Audio sub-bass performance in moderate power applications that call for compact enclosures and shallow mounting depths. W1v2’s share a lot of technologies with our premium subwoofers. These include our patented VRC™, Elevated Frame-Cooling and Floating Cone Attach Method™ technologies. As with JL Audio’s flagship drivers, development was guided by JL Audio’s proprietary DMA modeling system to deliver superior dynamic stability and low distortion within their intended power envelope. The power of real value. JL Audio G-Series amplifiers are all about real value... the kind that is not only judged on price, but rather by the quality, power and performance you get for your money. Like the flagship HD and “Slash v2” amplifiers, G-Series amplifiers feature differential-balanced inputs, excellent signal processing sections, our unique “never quit” rollback protection circuit, and our super-clean, patented amplifier circuits. The only major difference is that G-Series amplifiers employ a conventional unregulated power supply, instead of the R.I.P.S. power supply employed by HD and “Slash v2” models. Thanks to our Differential-Balanced Input Sections, all you need to connect speaker level signals (including those from factory systems) is a speaker wire to RCA adaptor like the JL Audio XB-CLRAIC2-SW pictured here. Performancedegrading line-output converters (LOC’s) are never needed.

CL-RLC Remote Level Control Yes, it’s a true level control for any of our amplifiers! Unlike the RBC-1, which is an EQ boost controller, Audiophile-grade preamp circuitry means that the CL-RLC can be used as a subwoofer level or full-range volume control wherever you need to adjust the level of a pair of channels. It employs super-clean differential-balanced inputs and provides two sets of line outputs: variable and fixed level (to create a pass-through for channels you don’t want level controlled). Power Connection Blocks & Kits Whether you are installing a small, single amplifier or a multi-kilowatt system, achieving proper power and ground connections is essential to reliable, enjoyable performance. JL Audio ECS power connection products are intelligently designed to be compact, flexible and to offer solid, low-resistance electrical connections. ECS Connection Blocks are able to accept the full range of power wire gauges within one model. A new captured wire connector technology, called OmniSert™, makes this flexibility possible. The first time you clamp a wire down into an OmniSert™ connector, you will know it is the real deal. Clever design features deliver the best installation flexibility and integrity. For example, our universal battery terminal connector can accept any gauge wire from 8 AWG to 1/0 AWG in each of its three connectors and the same model can be used on positive or negative battery posts. Our ANL fuse holder allows you to rotate its input and output connectors in twenty five different combinations to achieve optimal routing of your power wire under the hood.
