Apple may be forced to stop using the iPhone name in Brazil Apple is facing a good potentially very costly and frustrating trademark battle in Brazil over use of the name iPhone As it currently stands, Apple does not hold the trademark on iPhone in Brazil, and has just had its request to register it rejected. The reason for the rejection is another company having previously registered the name as a trademark. IGB Electronica applied for the iPhone trademark in the year 2000. It was granted in 2008. In Brazil, whoever applies for a trademark first gets it, but then has to use it within 5 years. Apple plans to contest that since 2008 IGB has not used the iPhone trademark. However, the 5 year deadline ended with 2012, and IGB states it launched the iPhone Neo One Android smartphone in December. If you want one, you have to purchase it directly from the company through its website or from a single shopping location in Sao Paulo at a cost of $304. This price is high enough for the buyers.

And while iPhone 5 battery life reviews have been mostly positive, there are always ways to improve battery life with the iPhone and we wanted to share some tips about how to get better battery life with the iPhone 5.

geeks Politics Politics: Just for geeks? In a misogynistic, posh sort of way. And worryingly in an uncool government, that's all he needs. Campaign finance is a touchy subject. The 2010 decision by the Supreme court was a massive failure in my opinion. With the huge amounts of money being given the
CANDIDATES BE HAVIOUR Candidates can't help but support their causes. Now, this isn't quite as bad as it sounds, because the reason they are giving is likely that the candidate already supports their cause. That being said, it gives the candidates a conflict of interest. If the facts change they might still.
and his Super Pacs have gotten big money from the likes of Michael Bloomberg and George Soros while Mitt Romney and his Super Pacs from Sheldon Adelson and the Koch brothers. This can't help but be a problem. That being said, to put it in perspective we will spend more on Halloween candy this year than on the presidential election. I think this makes a good argument for public financing of elections. It's hard to decide who gets the money then, but if we can do that, a billion or 2 is a tiny drop in the bucket every 4 years compared to our budget. Wouldn't a fair election not boug for that.
NEXT MONTHS Over the next few months, my friends' eyes started glazing over as I fumed over the latest scandal, or made witty comments about Nick Clegg's falling poll ratings.
It became clear, as I added up ballot papers and worked out turnouts in my break, that I was a committed election geek, but worse, no-one else cared, and worse still, no-one actually in politics gets that no-one cares. The 301 people who turned up to vote that day wouldn't have been able to pick the members of the shadow cabinet out of a line up. Things happen that politicians think will be the end of them (Jeremy Hunt, are you listening?) and nothing happenss because most people haven't even noticed. Let's face it, they are all (both sides) a bunch of middle aged, white be-suited men who can't get a stir of excitement out of their wives, let alone the public. Ed Miliband, bless him, doesn't look.
a select group of middle class white people. In fact, at times British politics bears a striking similarity to Dungeons and Dragons; arcane traditions played out according to strict rules, many involving silly outfits. This isn't how it works in France, or Greece, where politics means the left converging on Bastille, or anti-austerity riots in the streets. The French left had a massive party on a Sunday (a school night!) when Hollande got into power last week. In Europe, politics is (or can be) cool. Why isn't it here?. I realised this in 2010. It had taken so long for anyone to make up their mind that year that even the ultimate geeks had torn themselves away from the TV/computer screen and into the real world. When action finally happened, and Cameron went to the Queen, I was in a pub. We actually asked for them to turn the TV over from football to endless shots from the BBC.
THE X-FACTOR In the X-Factor of the London mayoral election, the public chose Boris because they liked the way he looked, the way he swore, the way he occasionally resembles Stephen Fry. Make no mistake, Boris, incredible as it might seem, is cool. In a misogynistic, posh sort of way. And worryingly in an uncool government, that's all he needs. Ed Miliband. Picture the scene, a group of people, lit only by the glow of the TV screen, sit around watching the stats come in. A flurry of excitement is caused by some numbers going up and down on a flashy graphic. This is politics in Britain today, people, and it's not cool. Tiny turnouts and general apathy point to a society that doesn' t care about politics. Those who do have an increasingly niche interest, concerned with the strange behaviour of a select group of
GEEK MANIFESTO What is sad about this is not so much Tredinnick's views there are always likely to be eccentric MPs like this. It is that he has been elected by his Tory colleagues to represent them on the main parliamentary scrutiny committee for science. I'm sure few of his MPs agree with him on astrology and alternative medicine. Yet they've betrayed a worrying indifference to science in supporting his candidacy. It's this indifference to science, not Tredinnick's (rare) hostility to science, that is the chief.

When it comes to the rights that we have as citizens in the United States it is a given that there are some things we have at birth. We have the right to free speech, we have the right to own firearms, we have the right to have freedom of the press, and we have the right to not have unlawful search and seizure, among other things. The trouble is, this list seems to be somewhat changing and it would appear that as time goes on we are becoming more and more under the watchful eye and control of the U.S. government.
The name alone conjures up an image of privilege and of an enclave for the wealthiest families in the nation. Those who attend and graduate from Harvard belong to a small and elite club

Jim Gilliam started out on the other side of the cultural-political spectrum. A homeschooled evangelical Christian, he was born again at age 8 and went on to attend Jerry Falwell's Liberty University. After his politics turned leftward during the Bush administration, he teamed up with the activist director Robert Greenwald to co-found Brave New Films, the progressive movie-production company behind such features as Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism and Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price. n person, Green and Gilliam make an odd pair. Green is short and stubby, with bushy, chin-length brown hair and a blazer-and-jeans look.
Although this may sound a little paranoid it is important to know that there is reason to be concerned. This is not about political affiliation or party lines, it is about the fact that we are loosing our say, and there doesn't seem to be much we can do about it.
When you begin a war one of the first things that you have to do is to establish the victory conditions. This is essentially plotting out a destination on a road map so that you know what it will take to get there, and what it will look like once you do. What are the victory conditions on a war on terror? What will it look like once we win? Can we win a war on terror? Make no mistake; we can go a long ways for a long time and kill a whole lot of bad guys but at the end of the day what will it mean to.
This is in no way an attempt to undermine what the United States is doing, but if we are going to use a war to continuously strip away our rights as citizens we need to have a clearly defined goal. This again is not something even being talked about. It may not ever be the case that you will have people literally taking guns from your gun safes, but as we are faced with more limitations to our rights there is real reason to be concerned that some day we may not be as free as we once were. Isn't that what we are supposed to be fighting for?. One of the most challenging topics to get presidential candidates to talk about is war.

His interest in politics goes back to high school, when he ran successfully for local school board in California at age 17; he later worked as a field organizer on John Kerry's presidential campaign and started the Facebook activism app Causes.
celebrated honors in the legal profession. Both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney belong to this group. That fact alone guarantees that they have more in common with each other than they do with most of the people who plan on voting for them. But peel back a layer, and there's a difference -- the fundamental difference, in fact, between how Democrats and Republicans use technology. Obama's site was custom-built starting in 2008 by the consulting firm Blue State Digital. It's a fully integrated platform for everything from fundraising to social networking -- the Rolls-Royce of campaign tech, complete with price tag. Romney's interface, on the other hand, didn't even originate with the campaign; it was based on a

While Blue State's software was designed to be the highest-end professional tool in the market, NationBuilder is more like the GarageBand of community organizing, opening up the possibility of a world where just about anyone is empowered to campaign like a presidential candidate, he said. In person, Green and Gilliam make an odd pair. Green is short and stubby, with bushy, chin-length brown hair and a blazer-and-jeans look, while Gilliam is a bald, pale, lanky six-foot-nine and favors tees and hoodies. They found each other when Green saw Gilliam's moving talk at the 2011 Personal Democracy Forum, "The Internet Is My Religion." It tells the story of how Gilliam, his life hanging by a thread after a recurrence of cancer, mobilized the Internet to help him get the double lung transplant he needed -- and, in the process, rediscovered his faith. "God is just what happens when humanity is connected," he said in the talk. "Humanity connected is God." Humanity connected is also politics, in the community-organizing-based mindset of social-networking evangelists.
gotten when evaluating both men. Another important fact is that both Obama and Romney did well academically while at the school. This is another shared element of both men's stories. The academic drive and eagerness that they possessed may have been due to the influence of their fathers, both of whom were high achievers; Romney's father in business and politics and Obama's father in the field of economics. Willard Mitt Romney would graduate from both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School. He was in the top five percent of his class in business school and graduat
In short, Team Obama has home-grown its tools, while Team Romney has bought commercial products and taped them together. But both approaches are labor-intensive and hugely expensive, and neither approach is really optimal. One requires devoting a big chunk of the campaign's energy to essentially functioning as a tech start-up; the other requires settling for off-the-shelf tools.

geeks environment The history behind Apple’s environmental footprint In its official website, Apple has given a report so it can be seen by everyone as the brand has sought to reduce the impact the
company that generates the mood. Apple has been heavily criticized in the past for their industrial processes and working conditions. Some activists denounced the excessive water waste involved in creating one of their products.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Product Use
A significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions Apple accounts for are produced when you plug in our products and start using them. That's why we design our products to be as energy efficient as possible. Because we design both the hardware and the operating system, we are able to make sure they work together to conserve power. Take Mac mini, for example. Through innovations both big and small, it uses as little as one-fifth the power consumed by a typical lightbulb.4 Mac mini uses even less power than a single 13-watt CFL lightbulb, mak ing it the most energy-efficient desktop computer in the world.
The use of our products generates 30 percent of Apple's total greenhouse gas emissions

ucts that are ENERGY STAR qualified, every single Apple product not only meets but exceeds the United States Environmental Protection Agency' s strict ENERGY STAR guidelines for efficiency. Apple is the only company in the industry that can make this claim. Through innovations both big and small, it uses as little as one-fifth the power consumed by a typical lightbulb.4 Mac mini uses even less power than a single 13-watt CFL lightbulb, mak ing it the most energy-efficient
Over the past decade, Apple's designers and engineers have pioneered the development of smaller, thinner, and lighter products. As our products become more powerful, they require less material to produce and generate fewer carbon emissions. For example, although today's 21.5-inch iMac is more powerful and has a much larger screen than the first-generation 15-inch iMac.
Designing greener products means considering the environmental impact of the materials used to make them. From the glass, plastic, and metal in our products to the paper and ink in our packaging, our goal is to continue leading the industry in reducing or eliminating environmentally harmful substances. Apple reduces energy use in our facilities in a number of ways. Currently, the needs of our facilities in Austin, Texas; Sacramento, California; Munich, Germany; and Cork, Ireland, are 100 percent met by renewable energ eliminating 30,000 metric tons of CO2e emissions. In addition, Apple continues to install state-ofthe-art digital controls, high-efficiency mechanical equipment, and monitoring technology. Of course, we use energy-efficient Apple computers in all our facilities. Apple reduces energy use in our facilities in a number of ways. Currently, the needs of our facilities in Austin, Texas; Sacramento, For example, although todays 21.5-inch iMac is more powerful and has a much larger screen than the first-generation 15-inch iMac..
We know that the most important thing we can do to reduce our impact on the environment is to improve our products environmental performance. That's why we design them to use less material, ship with smaller packaging, be free of toxic substances, and be as energy efficient and recyclable as possible.
Once an Apple product reaches the end of its useful life, we will help you recycle it responsibly. Apple has instituted recycling programs in cities and college campuses in 95 percent of the countries where our products are sold, diverting more than 115,504 metric tons of equipment from landfills since 1994. Our goal in 2010 was to achieve a worldwide recycling rate of 70 percent. The weight of the materials we recycle each year is compared to the total weight of the products Apple sold seven years earlier.) We met and exceeded that goal in 2010. This far surpasses the last reported numbers from Dell and HP, which were each lower than 20 percent. In 2011, Apple global recycling once again exceeded our 70 percent goal, and we are confident that we will maintain this level through 2015.

To accurately measure a company's environmental footprint, it's important to look at the impact that company's products have on the planet. For the past three years, Apple has used a comprehensive life cycle analysis to determine where our greenhouse gas emissions come from. That means adding up the emissions generated from the manufacturing, transportation, use, and recycling of our products, as well as the emissions generated by our facilities. We've learned that about 98 percent of

geeks economics Geeks cash out in the experience economy
When someone mentions the word geek we immediately think they're talking about someone who is crazy about technology, gadgets, science, math, games or engineering. As the world has evolved, the term geek is now used to describe people from every walk of life. We now have art geeks, film geeks, sports geeks, coffee geeks and cooking geeks. Anyone who is passionate in a subject, devoted to learning everything about it, and furthering their knowledge in that field, is a geek. Having devotion to your field and wanting to "recruit" more people to your cause are two other attributes of being a true geek. This used to be hard. You had to wait for expos, events and join groups and forums where you had to persuade people to follow you. Things have now changed. Thanks to experience platforms, geeks have an array of ways to do this and make a money on the side.
The "experience economy" is a new economy that has grown rapidly over the past year and allows people to share their passion and make some money out of it. Since you're already spending all your free time with your passion, why not share it with everyone? For the person attending one of these experiences, it's like taking a peek into a geek's life. Being centralised and technology driven is what makes the
experience economy work. If you're a geek you have two choices, either spend your time doing what you love or promoting and talking about what you love. Although you might be ok doing the latter, in reality you want to spend as much time as possible geeking out. This is why these platforms rock, the audience is ready and waiting. All you have to do is create the experience and then let the good people of
the service promote you. Life couldn't be easier. Now all you have to do is work on what you love and from time to time let others take a peek. I've looked at what platforms are available and here is a list of the most popular sites (in alphabetical order, just to be fair), along with my own geeky view on them.
From geeks to foodies, 12 tribes that make Austin’s economy tick Last week, on the heels of Austin being dubbed the best U.S. city for small business in a recent study, I made the point that the biggest asset to our economy is our network of helpers and entrepreneurial support systems. Over the weekend I stumbled upon a great blog post that can help entrepreneurs and small-business managers navigate what I dubbed the Austin matrix. Hall Martin, director of the Texas Entrepreneur Network, points out 12 tribes of the Austin entrepreneur community. From geeks to gamers, entrepreneurs to independent business owners, Martin lays out the landscape in this blog and does something I value a lot - he offers up some names of the tribe chieftains. I put Martin on my inaugural 20 Austinites to Know list because of business intelligence such as this. Of course, he has his own blog, but he also contributes exclusive tips for entrepreneurs via the pages of the Austin Business Journal as a guest columnist for our ABJ-E section.
Blink Collective started as an idea in August 2011 that was submitted for the Ignite100 Startup Accelerator program. In just a few months, it has gone from idea to product and is now available for geeks to share their passion. With a focus in the UK market, it's targeting people passionate about food and drinks. Offered on the platform are the usual cooking classes (meh), in contrast to the stuff that really interest us like learning what bugs you can eat (yummm) and knife skills (I'm a bit of a food-geek and I really envy those crazy ninja-like chef cutting skills). If you are a geek chef then this is one of the places to be. Excursionist is the most commercial offer from this bunch. Experiences hosted by real people are coupled with cool accommodation and travel services to give you the ultimate experience when travelling abroad. Unfortunately hosting events is not open to every geek with an idea. You need to connect with them and get chosen by their curators. I'm sure that any geek that sets their mind to it, can get their experience on the site. Founded by a coffee geek, a design geek and a tech geek, Gidsy is spreading like wildfire. When I first came across the site it was only offering experiences in Berlin and it has now grown to cover Berlin, London, New York, Amsterdam, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The benefit of Gidsy compared to the above is that it allows you to host any kind of experience.
When Geeks Took Over Poker Chris "Jesus" Ferguson applied game theory to poker and won. Big time. He became a star, albeit a geek star "whose idea of a trick was to throw a card in a way that sliced through vegetables, whose idea of fun was swing dancing and who even in his forties as a millionaire lived with his mum and dad". But, as Ferguson would find out, there's always a bigger game.

Why aren’t geeks doing more for the economy? Cosplayer Victoria Schmidt has media attention during this
been getting a great deal of Comic-Con season.
She was recently feature in a Yahoo! video interview, and today a lot of my Facebook friends have been sharing this interview she did for RT America. Victoria has pretty much become the ambassador for costumers of America. This latest video interview has pissed off a lot of people in the geek community, not because of Victoria, but the overall tone of the interview left a sour taste in the mouths of many. The reporter is basically criticizing the con-goers for saving up their money, just to go to San Diego Comic Con. This reporter wants to know why people save up all this money to spend at Comic-Con instead of giving it to charity, or using their money to make a difference in the world. Wow! Seriously lady?So her concern is that thousands of people are spending lots of money for an event that happens once a year? Big deal! Why don't we ask all those families who spend money taking their kids to Disney World, or fans who spend hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on Super Bowl tickets to use that money for a better cause. Why are just us geeks getting lectured about what we use our hard earned money for? If anything, large events like San Diego Comic Con help boost the local economy. Victoria Schmidt made an excellent point when she stated that many costumers actually use their costumes to participate in charity events, raise money for medical research, or visit sick children in hospitals. It sucks that the interview gets cut off right when Victoria was making valid points about how costumers contribute to the community. But, I don't think it's fair to target a group of people and tell them how they should be spending their money. Kudos to Victoria for rockin' her Starfleet uniform for the interview also. She did an excellent job standing her ground towards a somewhat bias reporter.
Analyze the economy with app now Data huggers An innovative charity rallies geeks for a good cause available for Android To learn how our economy is performing, you have some options. Listening to the talking-heads on T.V. is one, for example, or maybe you'd prefer delving through virtual stacks of statistics on government websites. But to make the process easier, a better option might be to use Cascade Software's Economy app. The Seattle-based startup just released the app for Android devices -only on Samsung phones/tablets for nowto help users easily understand how various sectors of the U.S. economy are performing. The $1.99 app lets you analyze everything from housing data to unemployment rates to corporate profits after taxes. It provides graphs that track the history of these indicators across the past few months, years and decades and across Democratic and Republican presidencies and recession periods. The data comes from information published by the Federal Reserve and can be broken down on a state-bystate basis. The Economy app first debuted for iOS three years ago and was once the No. 1-ranked app on Apple's Top Charts for the Finance category. It was also featured in Wiley Publishing's book on Incredible iPhone apps. Cascade Software has experienced some other success with iPhone app development in the civic software category. CEO and former Microsoftie Rammanohar Arumugam helped develop a 99 cent app called Government Spending, which like the name suggests allows users to research government spending by department (Education, Defense, Energy, etc.) and year. It also has released the Global Warming Personal Calculator and Election, which was designed for the 2008 presidential election and showed final election numbers.
BUSINESSES avidly mine data to improve their efficiency. Non-profit groups have plenty of information, too. But they can rarely afford to hire number-crunchers. Now a bunch of philanthropic geeks at DataKind, a New York-based charity, are helping other do-gooders work more productively and quantify their achievements for donors, who like to see that their money is well spent. A typical DataKind two-day "hackathon" last month in London attracted 50 people who worked in three teams. One pored over the records of Place2Be, which offers counselling to troubled schoolchildren. Crunching the data showed that boys tend to respond better than girls, though girls who lived with only their fathers showed the biggest improvements of all. The charity did not know that. The expertise is far beyond what is available to a typical charity. The small-talk among the volunteers was of dizzyingly complex statistical and artificial-intelligence techniques. Volunteers included an analyst at Teradata, a
data-analytics firm. Around 20 employees attended from Aimia, a firm that mines data from consumer-loyalty programs. In a previous hackathon in San Francisco, DataKind volunteers analysed the data from Mobilising Health, a non-profit group that connects rural patients in India with doctors in cities that are usually many hours away. Volunteers record symptoms and relay them by cellphones. The doctors then may prescribe drugs or recommend a hospital visit. The charity wanted to use the many months' worth of accumulated text messages to evaluate the medics' performance. Thanks to DataKind the charity was able to rejig the system to take more account of urgency and to direct requests to the most responsive doctors. Thomas Levine, a data scientist at ScraperWiki, a provider of data-processing services, says he has attended DataKind events out of altruism but also for education. Would anyone care to measure that benefit?

IRON MAN 3 - Iron Patriot Character Review: Poster “The Dark Knight Rises. Disney has released a new character poster for Iron Man 3 featuring Don Cheadle as James Rhodes wearing his red, white, and blue Iron Patriot style armor, and he looks like a badass! I imagine this is the first of many awesome character posters that will be released for the highly anticipated Marvel film.
"Marvel Studios Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemys hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?"
No, it turns out that The Dark Knight Rises is not a porno featuring Anne Hathaway in a fetish costume. Dammit. But it is the latest, and probably last, installment in a series of Batman movies that sucked way less than the ones we got back in the nineties. Oh, and to anyone who thinks Jack Nicholson was a better Joker than Heath Ledger, please stop talking to me. My faith in humanity has been challenged enough without that crap on my mind. Seriously, dont make me destroy you.
The Shane Black directed film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, and Ben Kingsley. It's set to open in 3D and 2D theaters on May 3rd, 2013. Marvel released a few new official photos from Iron Man 3 recently which are basically just screenshots from the most recent Super Bowl trailer. So I thought I'd just take a bunch of other screenshots from the trailer and add them to the post for your viewing enjoyment. I really like that Super Bowl trailer, it teased what looks to be one hell of a good action sequence. I'm excited to see what the outcome of that insane aerial rescue is! The first four photos below are the official ones.
So was the The Dark Knight Rises any good? Whats up with that Bane guy? Did Jim Carrey appear as the Riddler and ruin the whole film with a closeup of his batch? And most importantly, did Anne Hathaway get nude? (Spoiler alert: Disappointed!!!!) http://geektyrant.com/news/2013/2/13/iron-man-3-iron-patriot-character-poster.html
New Image from the LONE RANGER with Johnny Deep as Tonto
Disney has released this new photo from Gore Verbinskis fun looking western The Lone Ranger. It features Johnny Depp as Tonto having a little conversation with his horse. Armie Hammer is in the background wondering what the hell is going on. Stay tuned for a new trailer which is supposed to be released on Sunday during the Superbowl! As a fan of westerns, Im rooting for this movie, and I hope to hell its good! Weather its good or not, I think its one of those movies that is destined to bomb at the box office. I hope Im wrong. The Lone Ranger hits theaters on July 3rd, 2013, and it also stars Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter. Here's the synopsis...
"From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films. The Lone Ranger, a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes."

All about the new console and its possible launchv dates New releases: GTA V and GT5
While the PlayStation 3 is just now hitting its stride, and has its best days still ahead of it, Sony is not one to rest on its laurels, and with the intense competition in the video game world at present, plans for the PlayStation 4's future release are already being put into motion. In fact not only is the PlayStation 4 getting this treatment, but even the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 6 are in the early stages of planning and conceptualization at Sony's R&D labs.
Fan builds working Iron Man gauntlet stuffed full of lasers
When is the PS4 coming out? The Question Everyone Wants the Answer To...
Hiroshi Sakamoto, president of Sony.
Although we've yet to see what the PS3 can fully do when really put through its paces (in fact Sony states that games currently on the market are not even close to pushing the system to its full potential), the thought of an even more powerful console looming on the horizon has gamers worried about the holes it will leave burning in their pockets, but giddy at the possibilities of what this new behemoth of a console will be able to pull off. Just imagine the advanced hardware on this thing, it will be insane!
As a result, the question on everyone mind is, when will the PlayStation 4 see the light of day? While Sony has not released any official information concerning the systems future launch, the generally accepted release date is pegged as late 2013, which would follow the trend of Sonys previous console generations. The PlayStation 1 was first released in late 1994 in Japan and 1995 throughout the rest of the world. The PlayStation 2 hit stores in 2000, giving the PS1 a retail shelf life of 6 years from its Japanese launch. Likewise, the PlayStation 3 came out in 2006, 6 years after the release of the PS2. Following this trend that Sony has established would give us a PS4 release date sometime after late 2012.
Back in time... Those are the latest versions of PS´s. PlayStation (December 1994)
PSone (July 2000)
PlayStation 2 PS2 (2000)
PS2 Slim (2004)
PlayStation 3 PS3 (Nov 2006)
The last edition of E3 (2012), Sony announced a interesting list of new products.
It's possible that how the PlayStation 3 fares in the current console war may also determine the release date of the PS4, for a couple of reasons. If the system struggles in the console wars, failing to generate the revenue which was initially expected of it, Sony may be far more eager to cut their losses and rush the PS4 to market sooner rather than later. Lately however the Sony Playstation has been doing well so.
Most of the PS4 intel we have seen points to a 2013 release. Keep an eye out for big PS4 news in February 2013 or at E3 in June 2013. The official PlayStation Twitter posted a tweet linking to a teaser video for what appears to be an upcoming PlayStation event on February 20, 2013. In the tweet, Sony invites the viewers to come "see the future" at 6pm EST with the video showcasing the symbols on the PlayStation's controller bristling with energy.
The conference call at Take Two Interactive today had potential to include information on Grand Theft Auto 5. However Take Two Interactive did not include Grand Theft Auto V in the release schedule. The schedule shows all releases up to March 2013. Explained Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. "We're blessed to be working with Rockstar," professed the CEO. Rockstar did not have anything to say about Grand Theft Auto V.
If theres anything cooler than a laser, its putting four of them in a gauntlet modeled after your favorite superhero. Patrick Priebe is a fan of both weaponry and Iron Man, so, for him, stuffing an Iron Man gauntlet full of lasers was an obvious idea. The gauntlet is made from aluminum, and once a laser enthusiast sticks his or her hand and forearm into the unit, the body tightens by clamping down, thanks to a springand-lever combination. Once its clamped down, an LED panel lights up on the side, informing the user that it is now safe to shoot things with lasers. Within the body, a mount gives the user access to the lasers button controls. The lasers dont simply shoot out of an opening in the aluminum body, though they rise up out of the body with the help of a servo.

On January 31 2013, Sony posted a video to their YouTube page, and posted "See the future" on their Facebook and Twitter pages. Journalists have been invited to a meeting on the subject of PlayStation, taking place on February 20.[41] There is currently no indication on what this meeting is for, but when contacted about the meeting, Sony replied with The PlayStation Meeting will be about the future of the PlayStation business.
Gran Turismo 5 has been in stores for awhile now, and creator Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed that Gran Turismo 6 is on the way. There may not be Gran Turismo 6 until the PS4 however. Yamauchi was speaking at a China Joy event on Thursday and hinted that the next series would be on Sonys next generation console. The statement is vague, however, it shows that a next generation console could be in the works.

NASA prototypes Moon-bound surface-mining robot, the RASSOR As NASA points out, most of its robots come equipped with expensive, fancy machinery and instruments. However, with its sights set on interplanetary mining, NASA has decided to dispense with the expensive scientific equipment, and equip a robot with sturdy digging tools. Dubbed the RASSOR (pronounced "razor"), the prototype cant be put up into space just yet, but NASA engineers already tackled the problem of the robots weight and stability. The unit needs to be light enough to fit on the vessel traveling through space, but heavy enough to remain operational once it is on a potentially lower gravity environment. So, the engineers gave the robot two digging drums on either end of the body that rotate in opposite directions; while one is digging, the other is rotating in the opposite direction, providing stability for the crawler. The diggers operate not by scooping up large amounts of soil at once like a big shovel, but by scraping little bits of soil at a time, which also helps with the machines stability.
Overview: Robotic Lander
The RASSOR is projected to weigh around 100 pounds, and be about the size of the Phoenix lander NASA sent to Mars.
In order to test the diggers, the engineers built a harness that mitigated some of the units weight in order to simulate the lower gravity of the Moon. Because of the two digger arms, the RASSOR is capable of complex maneuvers, such as pulling itself up over an obstacle or flipping itself over. The RASSOR is projected to weigh around 100 pounds, and be about the size of the Phoenix lander NASA sent to Mars. When the diggers are raised, the entire unit measures in at about 2.5 feet tall.
As for the RASSORs destiny, NASA envisions the robot skimming soil and putting it into a separate device that would extract ice and water, and use the chemicals within to produce fuel or breathable air. However, in order to gather enough resources to feed the machine that creates sustaining materials, RASSOR would need to be operational for 16 hours a day for five years straight. Almost amusingly, after figuring out the weight issue and creating satisfactory diggers, the tracks of the robot are
pebbles, and sand sometimes get caught in between the tracks and makes the rubber grips slip off. At the moment, engineers are debating that.
NASAs Marshall Space Flight Center and the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL) are creating a new generation of small, smart, versatile robotic landers to achieve scientific and exploration goals on the surface of the moon and other airless celestial bodies, including nearEarth asteroids. Directed by NASA's Planetary Science Division, Headquarters Science Mission Directorate (SMD), the lander capability being developed will pave the way for many exciting robotic scientific missions. NASA's robotic Lander Test Bed conducts test activities to prove the design of this new generation of robotic landers.
The new NASAs prototypes are made for improve the stability at the surface of the moon.

Smaller Apple TV hits the FCC
Its far from their most successful piece of hardware, but there are plenty of reasons for Apple fans to love the Apple TV. Now it seems the set top boxes are right around the corner from an update, if the recently revealed FCC documents are any indicator, bringing with it a smaller chassis and more efficient hardware inside. The Apple TV is a shiny little box that sits on your entertainment center until you want to push content to a television via AirPlay. There’s no one currently making a wireless playback and gaming service for TVs that comes close to matching the quality of AirPlay, though Intel and Google have certainly figured out that there’s a market for it.
People can make pretty much anything with Lego nowadays from an enormous working NES controller, to a machine that automatically sorts Lego pieces itself so its not really a surprise when someone builds something awesome with the plastic blocks. However, that doesnt make impressive builds any less awesome you simply saw it coming. Lego mastermind Jason Allemann proves this notion, and though he didnt surprise us with this Lego clock that tells time through the use of balls, he sure has us impressed. The clock featured in the video, powered by a Lego 9V motor, doesnt use a timing motor and controller to keep accurate time, but rather is set to position Bionicle Zamor Spheres every 55 seconds. Each sphere dropped on the bottom rail represents one hour, each one on the middle rail represents 10 minutes, while each on the top rail represents one minute. So, the time is read from bottomto-top, and requires a bit of counting unless the machine uses alternate rails Allemann built that have visualized numbers. When time rolls over and the number of balls need to reset on any row, a ball drops from the top and lands on the rail in
http://www.geek.com/articles/gadgeets/thisawesomelegocloctelltimewithballs2013022/
such a way where it tips the rail over, draining the spheres into a reservoir where the conveyor belt can grab and reuse them. Cleverly, a motor is employed in the reservoir that powers a small piston which pokes at the pooled balls, making sure there isnt any clogging.
Toward the end of the video, Allemann shows how the machine handles time rolling over to midnight a Zamor sphere simply hits the tipping point of all three rails, which dump their cache of balls into the reservoir in descending order.

History Segway polo is similar to horse polo, except that instead of playing on horseback, each player rides a Segway PT on the field. The rules have been adapted from bicycle polo and horse polo. Two teams of five players each hit a ball with their mallets, trying to get the ball into the other team's goal. A goal can not be scored off of any part of a player's body or Segway unless it occurs accidentally. The regulation field size is 200 feet (61 meters) by 128 feet (39 meters), and the goal is 8 feet (2.4 meters) wide by 5 feet (1.5 meters) high. A regulation match consists of four 8 minute quarters, known in polo as "chukkers." The Segway Polo world championship is the Woz Challenge Cup, which was established in 2006 when the Silicon Valley Aftershocks played the New Zealand Pole Blacks in Auckland, New Zealand. World of Warcraft (often abbreviated as WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994. World of Warcraft takes place within the Warcraft world of Azeroth, approximately four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard's
previous Warcraft release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001. The game was released on November 23, 2004, on the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise. The first expansion set of the game, The Burning Crusade, was released on January 16, 2007. The second expansion set, Wrath of the Lich King, was released on November 13, 2008. The third expan-
sion set, Cataclysm, was released on December 7, 2010. The fourth expansion set, Mists of Pandaria, was announced at BlizzCon 2011 by Chris Metzen on October 21, 2011, and released on September 25, 2012. With over 10 million subscribers as of October 2012, World of Warcraft is currently the world's most-subscribed MMORPG, and holds the Guinness World Record for the most popular MMORPG by subscribers.
Development World of Warcraft was first announced by Blizzard at the ECTS trade show in September 2001. Development of the game started in 1999 and took roughly 4-5 years, including extensive testing. The 3D graphics in World of Warcraft use elements of the proprietary graphics engine originally used in Warcraft III. The game was designed to be an open environment where players are allowed to do what they please. Quests are optional and were designed to help guide players, allow character development, and to spread characters across different zones to try to avoid what developers called player collision. The game interface allows players to customize appearance and controls, and to install addons and other modifications. World of Warcraft runs natively on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. Long hours of playing can get uncomfortable, so the first aspect you should look when you buy a gaming chair is how comfortable you are with that chair. If you're playing all day long at the computer, it's pretty obvious that a gaming chair has to support your body for long periods of sitting time. But the best gaming chairs will also enhance your overall gaming experience.
There are lots of things that must be taken into consideration before buying a chair for gaming such as material (leather, plastic, polyurethane), ergonomic issues, the adjustments you can make, the size which should fit to your body. Besides being comfortable, the best gaming chairs should respect all Consumer Product Safety Commission standards because there is a lot time spent on it. A recent study discovered that 30-second bursts of cycling (4 to 6 times per session with 4 minute rests in between) was just as effective as traditional endurance exercise, but involved 90 percent fewer miles. 3. Eat Eat food that's grown or pastured locally. Find a local farm, and become one of their good
Stewardship As Christians, we frequently hear the term "stewardship," usually in reference to money. I can't count the number of times I've heard a sermon on stewardship where the gist was the acknowledgment that everything we have is ultimately God's and that we should take care to use it wisely and for His glory -- and also always tithe to return a small portion back to Him. On a few occasions I have heard a preacher use the term stewardship when referring to our Christian responsibility for showing some care and respect for the We are indeed "fearfully and wonderfully made." (Psalm 139:14) Personally, I cannot see how anyone can deny the handiwork of our Creator and choose instead to believe that humans and all of the vast array of living things on this planet came about through happenstance. It is because I have such awe and reverence for His highest creation (human beings), that I believe it is our duty to care for the bodies He has made for us. In addition, I believe He has provided for us everything we need to nourish and maintain these amazing bodies.

times per week (such as fasting overnight and extending it to about 15 hours) can help with blood-glucose metabolism and reduce inflammation.
4. Fast Fast once in a while (This advice is only for adults, not for growing kids). Consider narrowing the window of eating to around 8 to 12 hours per day. An intermittent fast a couple
5. Challenge Do something once in a while that represents an acute challenge. (Meaning, it scares the crap out of you then makes you laugh and/or tell stories about it afterward). The reason wilderness treks, for example, are so gratifying and exciting is because they seem to stimulate built-in instinctive pathways, according to the author Laurence Gonzales’ Deep Survival. Although unproven, maybe they represent hormesis or “good stress.” For even more fun, bring along self-tracking apps such as Endomondo.
beautiful planet God created for us. Never once, however, have I heard a preacher talk about stewardship in regards to how we care for our own bodies. Maybe it's because very few of the preachers I have ever known actually take good care of themselves. (I suppose, it would seem a tad bit hypocritical for a man of rather substantial girth to be touting the virtues of nutritious food and regular exercise...) It is not my intention is to be critical or judgmental of others who do not take their health as seriously as I do. It's just that if we are called to serve
God and our fellow man, doesn't it make sense that we should take care of ourselves so that we are strong, healthy and able to fulfill His calling? While I have yet to find Scriptural foundation for it, I can't help but think that the Jewish food laws were intended to protect the health of God's chosen people. And yes, I know we are not required to adhere to those laws now, but I do believe they had a purpose. I believe God created amazingly beautiful and complex bodies for us that are composed of many interdependent and intricate systems.
