Stockholm's tourism industry April 2009
Weak month for hotels, hostels and vacation villages April was a very weak month for hotels, hostels and vacation villages in Stockholm. The number of overnight stays was 93,000 fewer than in April 2008, a 14 percent decline. It is worth noting, however, that Easter fell in March in 2008, while it fell in April this year. If we combine March and April, the decline is 2.7 percent. The rest of the county, excluding the city of Stockholm, was hit harder in April than more centrally located lodging establishments. The decline can be explained by the lower number of overnight stays by Swedish visitors and the slight increase in the number of overnight stays by foreigners. Camping is not included in these accommodation figures. It is only reported on an annual basis The number of overnight stays in hotels, hostels and vacation villages in Stockholm County 1 200 000 1 000 000 800 000 600 000
