Most (70%) of accommodated tourists arrived for holidays, most growth in business travel 73% of foreign tourists stay in Tallinn for leisure purposes, 21% for business, 4% for attending a conference and 2% for other purposes. 55% of domestic tourists visit for leisure purposes, 37% for business, 5% for attending conferences and 3% for other purposes. *

Rise in length of stay The average length of stay for tourists was 1.77 nights (+7%). Stays by domestic tourists: 1.43 nights (0%), Foreign tourists: 1.83 nights (+7%). Among primary markets, British tourists spent the longest time in Tallinn (2.51 nights), and Latvians spent the shortest time (1.46 nights).
Room occupancy rates up, but average price of bednights ** decreased 353 accommodation establishments offered accommodation services for tourists. The room occupancy rate was 35%, 4 percentage points higher than in February of the previous year. The average cost of a bednight in an accommodation establishment was 474 kroons, which is 14% (79 kroons) less expensive compared to February 2009.
Decline in passengers in air and sea travel 83,945 passengers passed through Tallinn Airport in February 2010 (-9%). Passengers in Tallinn Old Harbour totalled 434,000 (-3%), of whom 87% were on the Tallinn-Helsinki line and 13% were on the Tallinn-Stockholm line.
Visits of Tallinn Tourist Information Centres and Tallinn tourism portal increased Altogether 7,300 visitors (+4%) visited Tallinn’s two tourism information centres. Tallinn tourism portal received 61,100 visits in February, i.e 12% more than in February 2009.
