Who?

Tamara Bogle is the main woman behind the brand ‘Tamara.’ As stated on the lip balm packaging, Tamara was ‘founded’ (some people may argue born) in 1997. “Shipped from Jamaica” but “Made in England;” Tamara plays on the fact that her family descends from Jamaica but she was actually born and bred on English land. She has been progressively making waves in the music and fashion industry, from DJ’ing in your local house rave to building 50 fashion connections on LinkedIn. We suspect that Tamara will soon become a household name because her ‘jack of all trade’ qualities as well as her determined attitude. This means that she’s not going to sit on the side lines for much longer.

What?

“The Balm of Tamara” is Tamara’s newest project. Jumping straight into the deep end and launching her own lip balm with little help or promotion, “The Balm of Tamara” is guaranteed to provoke interest. There has been little information about the product except for the press release poster (see left) with red block text about the product over an image from the latest fashion collection Tamara launched. When talking to Tamara about the product she said, “This balm is just lip balm. That’s it. It does the job, visually pleases and will make your life easier. It’s kind of like me, [laughs] straight to the point and works but also tells a story. Everything is minimal because that’s my style but it’s also chaotic and eye-catching to stir up emotion and thought. You do not have to be loud to speak to people, and I feel like someone will get it.” “The Balm of Tamara” will be sold in limited quantities of just 1000 units per release and the balm will retail at £20.

When?

You will be able to buy “The Balm of Tamara” from 10th December 2016 on tamarasupply. com. Like we said, the balm will be sold in small quantities of just 1000 units for every release. As there are no scheduled release dates, we suspect that it will be an instant sell out so if you do not manage to cop one on the day, there are other options. Tamara will be doing many pop-up stores globally, starting with Manchester on 13th December and London on 15th December. To find out if “The Balm of Tamara” will be popping up in a city near you, log into tamarasupply.com to receive exclusive updates.

Why?

If you are a Tamara super fan, you won’t need much convincing to buy this lip balm because you already know that this item will be very rare and hard to get your hands on. Unless you want to buy the balm from a reseller who will charge upwards of £500, we suggest you keep your mornings free for whenever Tamara uploads “The Balm of Tamara” to her online site. However, if you have never heard of Tamara or do not understand the hype behind a simple lip balm then we have written an exclusive review especially for System Magazine readers which may help you understand why this unique lip balm is simply a must have and worth every penny.

What System Thought

Instead of Breaking the Internet, Tamara has been breaking the fashion industry with her latest clothes collection (see right) that has had some rather controversial reviews. Now the creative has ventured into the world of skincare, releasing her very first ‘The Balm of Tamara’ lip balm.

playful sexual undertone to the mix with the words “LICK BUT DON’T SWALLOW.” The basic instructions tell you more but still do not reveal a lot about ‘The Balm of Tamara,’ which may speak for Tamara’s personality as she can be elusive at times. The product and packaging are 100% recyclable and “PLEASE RECYCLE” is also printed largely on the instructional leaflet to promote this eco-friendly message. This may be linked to a reference Tamara made in a previous interview with System magazine in 2014 when she said, “I do not understand why it’s so hard to recycle? They literally tell you what bin to put your plastics in on the bin [shrugs in disbelief].” Who would have thought recycling was such a pressing topic for Tamara?

The packaging takes inspiration from her latest album, ‘The Life of Tamara,’ with its strong colour theme of orange and red that is visually abstract yet pleasing. A dark chocolate tone is used on the tabs and inside the box to break up the intense orange but still fit with the colour scheme that Tamara has used in her past fashion collections. Grainy font type that mimics an old traditional VCR, gives the packaging a very scaled back look. At first, we were a bit hesitant to see The minimalistic approach seems to if this balm was just a fashionable really resonate with Tamara as she gimmick or if it really hydrated and

which mirrors Tamara’s ethos of having an easy going and unbothered lifestyle.

Humble pie, laughter and a smile (with the signature ‘:-)’ symbol that Tamara regularly uses to be sweet or sarcastic) show that Tamara is truly a warm spirit deep down and maybe a bit misunderstood. The mixture of both nice and nasty, happy and sad just shows the whirlwind of emotion that encapsulates the spirit of Tamara. You never know what you will get on which day and the turbulence of life is something that Tamara embraces. The balm’s weight is labelled “#HEALTHISWEALTH.” For those of you that have Tamara on Snapchat, you would know that she has used this phrase regularly when making healthy food now that she is on a diet. The hashtag is fun sarcasm that

“I don’t get why it’s so hard to recycle? They literally tell you what bin to put your plastics in on the bin” moistured the lips enough to challenge actual major companies in the lip balm industry like Carmex. Tamara fans will no doubt buy the product just as memorabilia or to You also get an instruction manual resell for thousands, but here at with the lip balm that features many System Magazine, we wanted to test well-known (and some random) lips it to see if the brand can actually in the industry. These ingredients create a ingested, but Tamara adds a bit of nonchalant ambience to the product keeps the box clean with little instructions except for “Apply generously,” because who wants chapped lips, right?

Tamara squeals before drinking a green smoothie (or as she calls it, ‘warm grass’). From reviewing “The Balm of Tamara,” we can confirm that it is very light, just like a diet version of a lip balm so the weight ‘#HEALTHISWEALTH’ actually fits perfectly.

We love this balm, from the smell to the feel, the look of the packaging to the madness of the instructional leaflet. This mixture of refined mess is somewhat of an oxymoron but yet perfectly describes Tamara. If you get Tamara, you get this balm and that what makes you like it even more. If you don’t, then I am sure the vibrant packaging is enough to make you look at this balm a little longer than the standard own-brand lip balm that occupies any beauty store shelf. The hydration is instant and lasts hours after applying so the product receives the System Magazine seal of approval.

‘The Balm of Tamara’ retails at £20 and is exclusive to Tamara pop-up stores that appear all the globe and her online website tamarasupply.com.
