MOTEL FOR RAPHAEL In this studio, we were asked to design a motel for a specific client. And get a design that would fit the client’s requirements, and have the design characteristics that I came up with. The design comes from the idea of placing an array of masses along a branching path, the random hight and irregular placement create the multiple pathes and multiple experiences.
Raphael is a person who loves nature, and the connection to the mountains, and grows his own food. He enjoys the times when people gather around him, chat, and do activities together. Also he prefers farm life over city life; he loves the peace of nature, and the smell of fresh air. He loves other
4
cultures and com- experience munities. But in- farm life. stead of traveling to those communities, he wants the world to come to him. He wants people to visit his property and experience the farm life that he can offer to the visitor. Raphael wants a big property in a good site to create an experience where people can get together and

The site around Federal Blvd and I-70 is a great to build Raphael’s property. There is enough space and a huge lake that will give a great natural view. Moreover, it faces the Rocky Mountain Park, which encourages social interaction between visitors of the park and the residents of the motel. The motel designed for Raphael has some specific requirements. First, Raphael needs spaces where people can interact with each other, that requirement can be achieved by creating
shared hallways, or have space where people can sit quietly, and interact with people who pass by them. Also, Raphael wants to encourage gathering and grouping instead of separation of visitors. To achieve that, we can have a space that can be accessed from most of the rooms and be the center of the property. Moreover, Raphael wants nature and peace in his property. And to create a natural feeling in his property, we can create many outdoor spaces within the
boundaries of the property. In conclusion, Raphael is a nature lover, who wants to create a farm experience for his visitors. And to encourage people to meet and get to know each other. To open their minds and learn about other cultures. And to calm their minds and have a deep breath of fresh air. This nature friendly motel can be crated around a centralized space and a network of connecting pathways which encourage interaction

LIBRARY BUILDING The design elaborates a project of a library which focuses on the study of flora, a design of a terraced garden that has a flow of a natural stream while correlating with sloped hills of the site. Additionally, the design is influenced by the characteristics that can be found in traditional villages like, heavy structures, flowing paths, breeze, and “hidden gems”.

03 ECO-FAB
RECYCLED MATERIALS WITH NEW LIFE In this lab, we were supposed to recycle materials that were salvaged from old objects and make new furniture.
I decided to make a coffee brewing stand. I used few scraps of metal, and big wood bar to create my piece. The instructor wanted us to sketch our
16
ideas first, and then pick the best idea and work on it.
